SCHEME OF EXAMINATION FOR NON–FACULTY POSTS


ON DIRECT RECRUITMENT

The scheme of examinations (written & skill tests) and interviews for various non-faculty
positions advertised vide the notification mentioned above shall be as follows:

I. For the post of Assistant Registrar


Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) on (i) General Awareness, with
a focus on current affairs, including familiarity with working in
A. Paper–I Higher Education Institutions and General Administration, etc. (ii)
Mental Ability and Reasoning, (iii) Quantitative Ability (iv) General
English and Computer Awareness, etc.
Descriptive Test on Essay Writing, Noting and Drafting, Data
Analysis and Presentation, Domain knowledge of establishment,
B. Paper–II
accounts and academic practices & procedures in the University
System, General Administration, Basic administrative practices, etc.
C. Interview Personal Interaction with the Selection Committee

II. For the posts of Section Officer and Senior Assistant


Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) Type (i) General Awareness,
with a focus on current affairs, including familiarity with working in
A. Paper–I Higher Education Institutions and General Administration, etc (ii)

IV. For the posts of Assistant Engineer (Civil / Electrical)

or General Engineering (Electrical), etc. depending upon the post.

(Civil) Valuation, Concrete Technology, RCC Designs (RCC Beams and
steel Design), Transportation Engineering

Junior operations, markings, etc.), Environmental Engineering (water &
Engineer sewerage systems, solid waste management, pollution control, etc.)
(Civil) Contract management/quality control /Project management,

Knowledge of ICT with special reference to Library Software

Assistant audio/video tapes/cassettes identification, arrangements,
classification & cataloguing, library books stack management, and
preservation of digital audio/video files identification and

Junior website development and maintenance, cloud storage and server,

resources including e-resources, technical processing, procedures,
rules & regulations, various library operations, and services,
classification, cataloguing, stack management, etc.

Assistant Information Communication Technology (ICT), and recent
developments in the field of ICT with special reference to library
automation software, open-source software, word processing
software, etc. Knowledge of the National Digital Library, the role
of INFLIBNET, Institutional Repository, plagiarism, Information
Retrieval, stock verification, etc.

VII. For the post of Laboratory Attendant
Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) on Physical and Biological
A. Paper–I Sciences, General Awareness, Quantitative Ability, and Basic
English.
Skill Test: to test the candidate's ability to identify and handle
B. Paper–II laboratory equipment & tools, protocols & procedures, and safety
measures, etc.

VIII. For the posts of Security Officer and Assistant Security


Officer
A. Paper–I Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) on Security Management,
Emergency response procedures, General Awareness, Reasoning
Ability, Quantitative Ability and General English, etc.
B. Paper–II Descriptive Test on the following matters:
Security enforcement and Management: Physical protection systems
and measures Intrusion protection systems, monitoring, and
Security communication, emergency response procedures, Cybersecurity
Officer procedures & law, Personal, material and vehicle access control
systems and management. Firefighting and crisis management.
Departmental Security instructions, risk assessment & management,
crisis management & response, surveillance systems, perimeter
security measures, General administration, etc.

Assistant Surveillance systems, perimeter protection, patrolling & computerized


Security pass systems, employee training & awareness, incident reporting &
Officer documentation, knowledge of security laws, privacy laws & data
protection, code of conduct for security professionals, handling
sensitive information, etc.
(Skill Test) – Qualifying in nature (minimum 40% of maximum
marks)
(i) Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
For male candidates a) 100 meters race in 16 seconds b) 1.6
Km race in 6.5 minutes c) Long Jump: 3.65 meters in 3 chances
d) High Jump: 1.2 meters in 3 chances.
C. Paper–III For female candidates: a) 100 metres race in 18 seconds b)
800 metres race in 4 minutes c) Long Jump: 2.7 metres (9 feet)
in 3 chances. d) High Jump: 0.9 metres (3 feet) in 3 chances.
(ii) Command in the conduct of Drill.
(iii) Computer Operations.

Medical Standards:
• The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes
without correction i.e., without wearing glasses.
• The candidate must not have a knock-knee, flat foot, varicose vein
or squint in eyes, or night blindness and they should possess high
colour vision.
• They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any
physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of
the duties.

Note:
1. There shall be no minimum requirement of chest measurement
for Female candidates.
2. Relaxation in height and chest (as the case may be) as mentioned
above will be permissible only on the production of a certificate in
the prescribed proforma from the competent authorities of the
district where they ordinarily reside.
3. PET will not carry any marks but will be of a qualifying nature.
4. The candidature of female candidates who are pregnant at the
time of PET will be rejected as they cannot undergo PET.
5. The candidates who qualify for the PET will be medically
examined by the Medical Officer of the University and/or any
other recognized Medical Officer as decided by the University for
this purpose.
IX. For the post of Statistical Assistant
Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) on Data management &
A. Paper–I interpretation, Basic Statistical tools, General Awareness, Reasoning
and Quantity Ability, and General English, etc.
Descriptive Test on– Introduction to Statistics, Measures of Central
Tendency, Measures of Dispersion, Measures of Association and
Contingency, Probability Theory, data collection and sampling theory
and techniques, data analysis techniques, inferential Statistics,
regression analysis, analysis of variance (ANOVA), Chi-square tests,
B. Paper–II time series analysis(time series components, trend analysis & seasonal
decomposition), multivariate analysis(factor analysis, cluster analysis
& principal component), statistical software proficiency(introduction
to statistical software, overview of statistical software like R, Python,
SPSS, etc, basics of data import and manipulation), sampling theory,
statistical inference, index Numbers, time series Analysis, statistical
inference ( hypothesis testing, confidence intervals,
type I and II errors), etc.
Computer Applications – Algorithm and flow chart, basics of
spreadsheet (MS-Excel): Manipulation of Cells, Formulae, and
C. Skill Test Functions of Spread Sheet, Printing of Spread Sheet, Creation and
Editing of Text in MS Word.

Note:

1. The skill test shall be of a qualifying nature and no additional credits


for the same shall be allocated.
2. The skill test shall be conducted in a manner to check the practical
knowledge of the candidate in the use of Computer systems,
Application Software, and data-based statistical calculations.
3. The candidate may be tested for skills in word processing,
spreadsheet (MS Excel) with statistical analysis of given data, and
PowerPoint presentation.

Important Note: The topics of the syllabus mentioned above for all the posts are only
illustrative and not exhaustive.

Important instructions, qualifying marks, tie-breaker rules, etc.

1. The question papers shall be in English medium only and the answers in the descriptive papers
must also be written in ‘English’ only. The objective (MCQ) & descriptive tests for the post of
Hindi Typist will, however, be in the medium of ‘Hindi’.

2. The questions in the tests will be of the level of qualifying examination, which is prescribed as the
minimum eligibility criterion for each post.

3. The minimum qualifying marks for Paper-I (MCQ)shall be 45% for the unreserved, 40% for
OBC, and 35% for SC/ST/PwBD.

4. The answer scripts of Paper II (Descriptive) of a candidate would be evaluated, only if the
candidate qualifies in Paper I (attains the minimum qualifying marks).

5. The select list for appointment shall be drawn based on the aggregate score in both Paper I and
Paper II combined, where there is no interview component. Where the interview component also
exists, the select list shall be drawn up based on aggregate marks secured in all the tests and
interviews, in the order of merit.

6. Rules for Tie-break:

In the case of two more candidates securing the same aggregate marks,
Rule (1) The candidate who secured more marks in the aggregate qualifying
examination prescribed as the minimum eligibility criterion in the
Notification for the respective post will be given preference.

Rule (2) If two or more candidates are still tied with the same marks after applying
Rule (1), the candidate/s senior in age will be given preference.

Rule (3) If the tie is not broken after applying the above two Rules, it will be decided
through the draw of lots.
