3.0 Literature Review
3.1 Key Issues and Challenges
In tackling technological terrain, organizations are often faced by a hurdle of challenges
that make the adoption and incorporation of the Internet of Things (IoT) murkier and hence
slow. In the course of exhaustive literature review, it is found that there is a big array of
complex challenges that businesses have to face in order to effectively implement IoT.
Data Security and Privacy
While the benefits of the rapid development and implementation of AI technologies in
education are numerous, there are also significant concerns regarding data security and
privacy. To begin with, you can't forget about the major risk of data leakage, which can result in
both privacy and security issues. Online infrastructure now has a different scenario for an
organization with the widespread web of devices and explosive growth of data streams. This
often results in data leaks, unauthorized access, and privacy violations. Securing transmitted
information through IoT networks is crucial ensuring the use of effective encryption protocol,
rigorous access control, and thorough data governance. Consequently, it becomes possible to
administrator sensibly against potential hazards and frustrate the work of malicious users.
Interoperability Issues.
Another concerning point for Tesla is the issue of interoperability – the ability of
different hardware and software devices to interact in a seamless, easy-to-understand manner
without manual interference. The heterogeneous IoT ecosystem, where a variety of
technologies with differing specifications, protocols, and standards are present, operates as a
major barrier to interoperability. Dealing with the heterogeneity of legacy systems, addressing
interoperability across different devices, and finding a way to transfer data formats horizontally
between vertical networks will require everybody's participation and standardized
methodologies to overcome the obstacles and to gain the benefits that come with IoT
integration.
Scalability Constraints
As scalability turns out to be a major aspect of deploying the IoT solutions, Tesla finds it
a considerably significant aspect. With the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, the
company starts to struggle with the scalability problem as data volumes keep accumulating and
there is a rapid increase in the number of devices exploited and in the expanded range of
competences. Composing an IoT environment which will be clever and multi-scale, will be
cheaper and economic may be provided with appropriate planning, with a flexible adaptation
with an organizational development requirements.
Human Labor Challenges
Moreover, Tesla encounters the problem of missing the necessary capability to deal
with such implementation and maintenance of IoT devices properly. The highly composite
nature of IoT implementations needs a polyvalent skill set combining within them the industry
insights/domain expertise, data analytics skills, cybersecurity information, and systems
integration acumen. The talent acquisition needs to hire workers with the task-specific IoT
talents, upskilling the existing labourers, and a culture of continuous learning and innovation
among the workers are a must for the organizations to face the problems associated with IoT
implementation and make the long-term IoT strategy a possibility.
They are the illustrations of the multi faced nature of the digital age and the interactive
themes that companies must deal with as they proceed with the process of investment in
emerging technologies that can catapult the organization to the era of the digital age. However,
by tackling these challenges tactically through strategic planning, alliances development, and
systemic IoT deployment, organizations can get the most from the connected world and
achieve sustainable development and growth.
3.2 Analysis and Design Solutions
In the case study conducted on Tesla, the IoT deployment served as a gas to resolve the
existing organizational challenges, and the fruit of performance improvements. Upon the
application of a detailed functional review to the current operational structure, there were
identified particular issues which showed from ineffectiveness in resources utilization to the
lack of fresh information and wrong decision making processes. However, working out which
exact challenges be customized depend on and works with the established technologically
based on IoT are introduced as part of the comprehensive revenue transformation and
enhanced efficiency.
Optimizing Resource Allocation
Restructuring of assets to be responsive to market demand and resource confinement
that could improve productivity was a considerable problem facing the production firm. By
employing the technology for connecting to the internet, where sensors and actuators are
implanted on manufacturing machinery and production line, different data streams of
performance of equipment, utilization of resources, and the making of products were
generated and analyzed in real-time. This detailed view of operational processes enabled a
system-based approach to predictive maintenance, proactive allocation of resources, and the
dynamic optimization of production schedules to prevent the instances of plant downtime,
waste, and the fuller potential of resources release.
Augmenting Data-Driven Decision-Making
Also, lack of "data that is real time" prevented managers from making decisions
regarding information which was up to date and hindered the company to rapidly adapt to fast
changing market trends. The IoT-enabled sensors and edge computing functionalities allowed
us to obtain any sensor data in a massive amounts, which was then analysed in real-time.
Efforts to harness analytics, including utilizing data, algorithms, and machine learning, were
used to create actionable knowledge from this information enabling stakeholders to make
decisions based on accurate, current information in an informed manner. This information
technology revolutionized how the manufacturing company predicted trends and mitigated
risks through applications of data-driven decision-making, thus, making the manufacturing
company to be proactive all the time.
