ACTIVITY 1:
PHILIPPINE CUISINE
I enjoyed cooking Philippine cuisine since it's my country and those dishes we had prepared
are very familiar to me and I got to experience cooking those dishes that I'm not familiar with. We
know that here in the Philippines, everyone loves to eat different kinds of foods and it's more
enjoyable when a group of people are eating at one table. As I explored traditional recipes, I
discovered the ingenious ways in which these ingredients are utilized to create dishes that are
both flavorful and visually appealing. The use of ingredients like soy sauce, and native citrus fruits
imparts a distinctive and unforgettable taste to Filipino dishes, making them truly unique in the
culinary world. Also I found that the delicate balance of sweet, sour, and savory flavors, as well
as the use of ingredients like fish sauce and shrimp paste, contribute to the complex and satisfying
taste profile that defines Filipino dishes. With that, as I continue to explore and experiment with
Filipino recipes, I am reminded of the importance of celebrating and preserving the rich culinary
heritage that defines the Philippines and its delectable cuisine. The photo shown below is our
dishes that we had prepared and cooked in Philippine cuisine. And I like inutak, this was my first
time hearing about this kind of food. That's why I got curious about it. It has a good taste as one
of the desserts that every Filipino prepare
THAI CUISINE
For me, preparing Thai food has been a wonderful experience. I've learned so much about
Thai culture and cuisine from it, and it has increased my respect for the variety of culinary
traditions around the world. Thai food is renowned for its strong, vivid flavors, fragrant herbs and
spices, and precisely balanced sensations of sour, sweet, salty, and spicy. These characteristics
set it apart from other cuisines and make it among the most intriguing and distinctive worldwide.
My exploration of Thai cuisine has shown me how important it is to achieve harmony between
flavors. Finding balance between all the many flavors is more important than merely adding heat
and spice. Every meal has a balance of flavors, whether it is sweet or spicy. Thai food can be
distinguished from other cuisines primarily by the use of fresh herbs and aromatics. Thai cooking
is definitely distinctive when it comes to the aromatic sensation created by fragrant herbs like
lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and Thai basil. Thai cuisine is unique due to its reliance on herbs
and aromatics, which has also greatly influenced the development of its distinctive flavors. And
the photo shown below are the dishes we had prepared in Thai cuisine. My chosen dish among
those recipes is Thai red curry. Though I'm not into the taste of curry, this one helps me eat those
kinds of curry dishes.
SINGAPOREAN CUISINE
For me, learning to cook Singaporean food has been enlightening and rewarding.
Singapore's multiracial population is reflected in its varied culinary heritage, which combines
Chinese, Malay, and Indian flavors. As I learned more about Singaporean cooking, I noticed that
it is distinguished from other cuisines by a special mix of flavors, cooking methods, and
ingredients. Another defining feature of Singaporean cooking is the emphasis on fresh and
flavorful ingredients. The use of condiments and sauces also sets Singaporean cuisine apart.
From the tangy and spicy sambal to the rich and savory soy-based sauces, these condiments are
essential in adding layers of flavor to the dishes. Also I learned that the balance of sweet, sour,
salty, and spicy flavors is crucial in achieving the authentic taste of Singaporean cuisine. And I
found that the careful balance of heat and timing was essential in achieving the perfect texture
and flavor profile in dishes like Hainanese chicken rice. The photo shown below is our recipes
and my chosen dish among those recipes we cooked and prepared in Singaporean cuisine which
is hainanese chicken. It's different from other chicken, has a wonderful taste and it's good when
you dip it with those three sauces.
