Success Mantra
from JEE (Advanced) 2023 Topper
• Spread out learning over me rather than rote memoriza on
before prac ce exams. It is best to try and memorize concepts or at
least understand a concept thoroughly while it is being taught,
which also allows you to invest more me in learning the concept
in depth.
• Ensure you devote enough me to studies everyday while
balancing your hobbies as an off-ramp to burnout. Stay consistent
in your studies throughout the years you devote to your
prepara on, and revise concepts regularly.
• Use the prac ce tests to test out different strategies of tackling a
paper, to iden fy an order of tackling the three subjects that works
best for you.
• Do not stress out about the JEE examina ons. Write all prac ce
tests and the final test calmly and without trying to rush through
calcula ons. Don’t let the pressure of wan ng a good result
preclude a good performance in the exam.
• I ensured that I had adequate sleep and that health would not be a
burden on my daily ac vi es and prep.
• I was consistent over the course of my prep and revisited older
topics to ensure I had understood them well.
• A emp ng mul ple prac ce ques ons and PYQs from compe ve
exams helped priori ze the topics and formulas I needed to focus
on and iden fy inconspicuous pa erns in ques ons that could then
be tackled with similar problem-solving strategies.
• Maintain a mo va onal peer group, and maintain construc ve
compe on with your peers and with your own previous Aditya Neeraje
performances, to constantly improve your own performance. JEE (Adv.) AIR–27
Success Mantra
from JEE (Advanced) 2023 Topper
• Exams like JEE Advanced requires deep learning and clear cut
conceptual clarity throughout the syllabus. It goes on without
saying that if you are quite clear with the concepts then you are
super ready for any type of ques on.
• Prepara on does not happen within few days or last month. You
have to con nuously put the efforts, dedica on and hard work.
• Smart work plays a major role in your prepara on. There are
millions of books available in the market that you cannot read even
through your whole life. So choose the material wisely as suggested
by your mentors. Remember less is more.
• The D-Day plays major role in deciding your result of years of hard
work. Learn to stay calm and composed and increase your common
sense and calcula on skills via a lot of prac ce.
• Mo va on comes from you only! If you really want to achieve your
dream career then nobody can stop you and that fire will keep
burning ll last moment.
SOME POINTERS ABOUT MY JOURNEY:
• I started my journey in class 11 with a strong founda on I have created in my
junior classes and con nued this ll my last moment with consistency and hard
work.
• I had completed my syllabus ll October 2022 with the great help of my mentors
and then in last few months I revised mul ple mes, gave a lot of mock test to
increase my si ng me of 6 hours without being red, done pyqs in detail to
understand pa ern and revisited my doubts and silly mistakes.
• I had prac ced mathema cs a lot. This helped me doing ques ons fast and
smartly.
• I have been very honest with my parents, teachers and indeed to myself.
Aakash Gupta
• Low phases keep coming in my Olympiad and JEE journey but I never give up.
Instead of being sha ered, I emerged even more stronger me ready to chase my JEE (Adv.) AIR–28
aim with all dedica on.
Success Mantra
from JEE (Advanced) 2022 Topper
• I kept a somewhat regular sleep cycle, and made sure to eat well.
• I didn’t count the number of hours I studied; instead, I measured
my produc vity by se ng a quota for a day (Pending assignments,
prepara on for upcoming tests etc.)
• It can be hard to stay mo vated for 2 years, but it’s easy to be
mo vated for a test in 2 days. Regular tes ng helped keep me up to
date with studies along with some harsh reality checks.
• I was interested in olympiads like NSEs, PRMO, KVPY and preparing
for them was a welcome break from JEE, while crea ng checkpoints
along the way to judge na onal level compe on.
• My peer group was quite compe ve and our class discussions
helped strengthen my concepts.
• I made sure to do error analysis a er the tests, and discuss with
teachers/classmates about any conceptual doubts or alternate
solu ons.
• When in doubt about which books are useful and which topics are
relevant, archive is god.
• I stayed away from social media during my JEE prepara on to avoid
distrac ons.
• It is important to talk to your parents regularly. Your teachers will
help you academically, but parents help you emo onally and will
be your best support system.
• Always be aware of your reality. Dreams mo vate us, delusions
blind us.
• JEE is not the end of life. There is a lot to life outside of this exam, Tanishka Kabra

UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS: JEE Advanced
exam is focused on the understanding and
application of the concepts. By solving more
and more numerical problems you will have a
be er understanding of the concepts.
Eventually, you will be able to apply these
concepts learned in solving complex problems.

USE THE RIGHT RESOURCES: NCERT books are

the backbone of JEE Advanced. However, these
alone won't be enough for the exam
preparation. Therefore, along with NCERT, you
must practice from various other resources
such as modules, mock tests, sample papers
and practice tests. Align your learning style
with the suitable study material in order to get a
successful result.

EVALUATE YOUR PREPARATION: Knowing how

much you have learned, helps you get a reality
check of your preparation. Evaluate your

Subject-wise Preparation Strategy
Physics
Physics is concept based subject. So it requires in-depth understanding of
natural laws and their applications. It is more interesting than other subjects.

• Fundamentals of physics must be understood

first from NCERT and HCV books.
• Concept must be developed to solve numerical.
• Try to solve problems with the help of diagrams.
Put data on diagram and then analyze to get it
done in minimum steps.
• Practice past years questions. They are most
relevant for the exam.
• Modern physics is high scoring and easy too.
• Solve HCV first, then go for Irodov’s problems.
• Develop analytical skills for solving problem. Do
not try to remember.
• Olympiad exposure is beneficial for JEE
Advanced. So appear for Physics Olympiad
exams.
• Pathfinder’s Physics and 200 Puzzling problems
can be solved for top 100 ranks in JEE.
• Electrodynamics, Optics, Modern Physics are
important units.
Subject-wise Preparation Strategy
Chemistry
JEE (Advanced) chemistry, traditionally considered as the easiest of the three
subjects, may be easily nailed by a comprehensive study of NCERT Chemistry
and solving previous years questions.

• Practice rapid multiplications and divisions while

answering physical chemistry questions. This
will save your time during the exam.
• Practice makes a man perfect, so practice
similar JEE (Advanced) papers.
• Solve previous years questions.
• For organic chemistry, concentrate on
mechanism.
• Practice the reactions by writing them several
times so that they get ingrained in your mind.
• Periodic revisions are required to excel in
Chemistry.
• A empt variety of questions.
• Time management plays an important role in
JEE Advanced.
Subject-wise Preparation Strategy
Mathematics
Solving Mathematics problems in JEE Advanced requires extreme clarity
about concepts and a very good hold on the fundamentals along with excellent
problem solving skills. Most of the questions posed in JEE Advanced involve
application of multiple concepts in a single question.

• Vectors and Three Dimensional Geometry are interrelated

topics and can be mastered with relative ease. Questions
involving these have regularly been appearing in the exam.
• Matrices and determinant forms another set of interrelated
topics which have very li le content but questions from these
chapters are regular feature of JEE (Adv.) Papers.
• Probability, Permutations and Combinations, and Binomial
Theorem is another bunch which can be mastered in a single
go.
• Calculus contributes to significant part of papers hence must
be kept on priority while preparing for JEE (Adv.) as it needs
time to develop understanding of the ideas involved.
• It is very rare to frame a question from coordinate geometry
which can’t be solved easily. What ma ers is the time
required to solve it, which can be shortened considerably if
the correct approach is chosen. Coordinate Geometry is all
about right approach and hold on basic geometry.
• From Complex Numbers and Progressions, one question
each, can be expected in the exam and both can be studied
independently.
• Quadratic Equations and Trigonometry form the basics of
mathematics, so any student can’t a ord to avoid these
chapters. These topics are directly or indirectly involved in
some questions in the JEE paper on regular basis.
• Don’t forget the recently added topics like Statistics and
Relations, these are very easy to master and some easy
questions from these topics can be expected.
The D-Day Strategy
Preparing for the JEE (Advanced) exam, which is one of the most competitive engineering
entrance exams in India, requires a well-thought-out strategy. Here are some key
strategies for the D-Day, based on the experiences of JEE Advanced toppers:
Stay Calm and Confident: Toppers emphasize the importance of staying calm during the
exam. Confidence in your preparation is crucial. Keep a positive a itude and don’t let
anxiety overwhelm you.
Time Management: Allocate a fixed time to each section or question. If you get stuck on a
particular problem, move on and come back to it later. Toppers advise not spending too
much time on a single question.
Easy Questions First: Start with the questions you find easiest. This helps build your
confidence and ensures you secure those marks early on. If your first hour is productive it
will surely bring a lot of confidence in your second and third hours also.
Read Questions Carefully: Before you begin, read the instructions and question papers
carefully. Understand the marking scheme, negative marking and any special
instructions. This is so because JEE Advanced changes its pa ern each year and it
became very important for a student to focus on the changed marking scheme and
pa ern.
Problem Solving Approach: Toppers often recommend first reading the entire question
to understand what is required. Break down complex problems into smaller, manageable
steps.
The D-Day Strategy
Guess Wisely: If you are unsure about an answer, use the elimination method to make an
educated guess. Toppers suggest guessing only if you can eliminate at least one or two
options.
Time for Revision: Reserve some time for revising your answers. Check for any careless
mistakes or omissions. Revising can help you improve your score.
Prioritize Strong Subjects: If you have a clear preference for one subject, prioritize it.
Toppers often start with their strongest subject to maximize scores.
Don’t Panic: If you encounter a di icult question or a section that seems tough, don’t panic.
Stay composed and tackle it with a clear mind.
Healthy Breaks: Take short, refreshing breaks if needed. This can help you recharge and
maintain focus.
Reporting Time: Ensure you reach the examination center well ahead of time. Being rushed
or late can add unnecessary stress.
