Teferi Mokonnen(Entoto) compressive and Haile Sillase (kiekie Thebah) secondary schools. It
was introduced by physical education teachers who come Canada. Addis Ababa basketball
federation was established in the year 1950-1951.beginning from this year the federation has

Ethiopian basketball federation has been exerting persistent effort to make basketball more
popular and favorable game for Ethiopians (Sahile Michael Bizuneh 2001).

2.4.1 Facilities and equipment
According to David Levinson and Karen christens 2005 availability of basketball facility and
equipment has tremendous effective on development of basketball. If the facilities and
equipment are available in sufficient manner it is too easy to produce a number of outstanding
athletes who can show highest performance level. Administration and club officials must provide
facility and equipment for the development of basketball.(David Levinson 2005).
Different pieces of equipment are needed during basketball training.in line with this idea
Dewitt’s.(2002) state that you may find if convenient to own equipment. Regardless of your
situation basic sources, equipment makes teaching and coaching easier. Therefore to make the
trainings session effective through the application of different technical and tactical skills.it is
mandatory to consider the training equipment’s such as basketball, shoes, shin guards, shifts,
shorts, basket ring and the like.
Then facilities equipment’s bas negative effects on the development of basketball if they are not
properly. (Dewitt’s 2001)
2.4.2 Media and basketball coverage
Nicholson m (2007) studied that the media hence forth confederation has tool to product,
reproduce and amplify many of discourse associated with basketball in the modern world. The
coverage of basketball has created a product to consume by audiences sold by club and league.
Bought sold by media organization and manipulated by advertisers. The link between basketball
media is so strong and indelible that is now called. (Nicholson m.2007).
Basketball and media is not two separated industries that have been juxtaposed coincidentally
rather than evaluation in the number of specialists, newspaper, and the number of pages given
over basketball in conventional newspaper, television sport channels, and radio program
audiences. (Frod Kin 2010).
Modern stories about good and bad, success and failure, luck and misfortune, victory and defeat,
things native and foreign, group identity and emotion are all recounted in their most popular of
expression. But if there is no media coverage there is no development of basketball and also
other sport (Saligard t.2008)
2.4.3 Effect of physical fitness
Physical fitness is not one of the most important keys to a healthy body.it is the basis of dynamic
and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness of body and the
activities of the mind is sable bad complex also basketball needs individual athletes with long,
healthy, skilled and physically fit. (Sharkey 2002).
2.4.4 Proper coaching styles
In modern world athletes is exposed to wider views and hide vocabulary has expended to include
term why? A coach should do everything possible to tap his or her player’s potential in training
whose ultimate aims to win in competition. Coach’s play vital role for the involving technical
skills and achieving the final result, his or her function and is development of personality, social
functions and sports training function work. (Sahile Michael 2010).
A good leader ship style comes from your coaching philosophy and your personality athletes.in
simple terms identify three distinct coaching styles, authoritarian, cooperative and causal.
Generally those three coaching styles are important and play vital role for development of
basketball and other sport activities.(Eyerusalem Yacob 2011).
2.4.5 Parental support
Parents appear to be important as financial supporters, as organizers, improving moral supports,
as supportive in terms time of problems such as injuries and in their presence at practice and
games.(Abebew Kuku 2010)

2.4.6 Attitude of participants

The attitude that towards Basketball play vital role determining the support that sport program of
baseball game in the development of different countries. Generally the negative attitude about
the basketball is one of the most factors that affect the development and it’s challenges.(Garden
David).
