A single phase 50Hz transformer has cross-sectional area 36cm2 and the maximum flux
density in the core is 6wb/m2. Calculate the number of turns per limb on the high and low
voltage sides for 2200/250V ratio.

2. An ideal 25kVA transformer has 500 turns on the primary winding and 40 turns on the
secondary winding. The primary is connected to 3000V,50Hz supply. Calculate
(i)primary and secondary currents on full load (ii) secondary e.m.f. and (iii) the maximum
core flux.

3. A Single phase 100 KVA, 2200V/440V transformer has R1=0.3Ω; X1=1.1 Ω; R2=0.01Ω
and X2 = 0.035Ω calculate (i) the equivalent impedance of the transformer referred to the
primary and (ii) total copper losses.

4. A 20 KVA single phase transformer with voltages of 3000V/440V has the following test
results:

O.C test 500 V 1.1 A 67 W

S. C test 15 V 4A 28.6 W

Find the parameters of the exact equivalent circuit

5. The results of O.C and S.C test on a 25 KVA, 440/220V, 50HZ transformer are as
follows:
O.C test 220 V 9.6 A 710 W L.V Side
S. C test 42 V 57 A 1030 W H.V Side
Obtain the parameters of the exact equivalent circuit referred to the H.V Side.

6. The instrument readings obtained from O.C test and S.C test on a 10 KVA,
4450/120V,50HZ single phase AC transformer are as follows:
O.C Test (L.V Side) VO =120V IO=4.2A WO=80W
S.C Test (H.V Side) VSC =9.65V ISC=22.2A WSC=120W
Compute the following: (i) Equivalent circuit constant (ii) Draw the equivalent circuit
(iii) Efficiency and Voltage regulation at 80% lagging pf load (iv) Efficiency at full load
at 80% lagging pf load (v) The maximum efficiency at 0.8 pf lagging.
