I think too many people shy away from bold colors, but it seems like every time one of my customers
takes the risk and goes for it, it pays off. These third-party doors take IKEA cabinets to the next
level, giving that custom designer look at a fraction of the price. We just built it into the recessed
space between the shower and the outside wall. In this kitchen, adding the warm, natural wood
doors gives a perfect balance to the stark, modern Abstrakt white. Because this is an apartment, there
were restrictions on the type of flooring we could use. To get the space we needed to make things
right, we decided to steal a little space from the ample master bedroom. All in all it truly was a fun
and challenging project for us, and it certainly stands out as one of the most dramatic
transformations we’ve done. That’s right, behind these classy doors, you will find good old IKEA
frames and hardware. IKEA is a registered trademark of Inter-IKEA Systems B.V. and is not
affiliated with NW homeworks. We think it all came out great, but more importantly, our customers
love it. Vinyl floor, brass hardware, and oak cabinets: yup, that's a 90s bathroom. Both bathrooms
were really small, and since knocking out walls and enlarging the space wasn’t an option, we had to
plan everything down to the inch to get the most out of the space. The customer wanted a modern
kitchen with clean lines, and chose IKEA cabinets to get the look they were after. IKEA is a

the great things about custom doors is that all the doors are grain matched, meaning the wood grain
flows from one door to the next, giving the cabinets a much more refined look. The cutting edge
design and amazing array of products can inspire and overwhelm. It’s the perfect way to make your
cabinets look like a million bucks without actually spending a million bucks. Cork is a soft product so
it’s comfortable under foot, but also fairly durable and should hold up very nicely for this small
family. While the existing bathroom was in good shape, it was really small, and very poorly designed.
I found it was best to start with a piece of cardboard, cutting and trimming it until I had it dialed in
to the shape of the logs before cutting the shape into the actual panel. They were already vaulted in
the master bedroom, but the existing bathroom ceilings weren’t. IKEA is a registered trademark of
Inter-IKEA Systems B.V. and is not affiliated with NW homeworks. The end result is this beautiful
kitchen which combines IKEA’s Gnosjo cabinets with their Abstrakt White line. To my regular
readers and subscribers, I apologize. The modern styling of the cabinets and the quartz countertops
create a striking contrast against the rustic logs. IKEA is a registered trademark of Inter-IKEA
Systems B.V. and is not affiliated with NW homeworks. For the accent doors, the customers chose
our flat-sawn walnut. Then adding the little pop of color in the backsplash ties it all together. IKEA is

also swapped out the traditional door for a pocket door.
The thoughtful use of open shelving keeps things from getting too cabinet heavy, and counter-to-
ceiling subway tile completes the classic look for this classy kitchen. But it's not for lack of anything
interesting to post, I assure you. The custom walnut doors and shelves, and the beautiful, hand
glazed tile backsplash make this kitchen stand out without spending a ton of money. Here we used
the same mosaic as we did for the floor to create an accent. IKEA is a registered trademark of Inter-
IKEA Systems B.V. and is not affiliated with NW homeworks. OK, so it’s just two doors and some
floating shelves, but hey it’s a start, and we already have orders for more, so look for those kitchens
in future posts. I found it was best to start with a piece of cardboard, cutting and trimming it until I
had it dialed in to the shape of the logs before cutting the shape into the actual panel. So on newer
log homes, it’s best to just secure the cabinets to the floor and not to the wall. This kitchen isn’t just
a showpiece though, this is someone who loves to cook, and we’re sure there will be some amazing
food and memories made here. The cutting edge design and amazing array of products can inspire
and overwhelm. For comparison, here is a project with our doors in the same material. In fact, they
hadn’t even moved in yet, but they were super excited to make some changes (especially to the
kitchen) and make the house feel more like their own. Thanks for stopping by to leave such a nice
comment. It fits perfectly in this kitchen, and it’s a sustainable product. They had some great ideas in
mind, but asked us to help them solidify their vision with a design. We had our doubts at first, but it
all came together, when those awesome light fixtures went in. To my regular readers and subscribers,
I apologize. Everyone had a great time working there, and we’re all really proud of how it turned
out. Tim you and your crew is exceptional and very hard working. Reply. As a crowning touch we
added in a skylight which just pours light into the bathroom. One of the great things about custom
doors is that all the doors are grain matched, meaning the wood grain flows from one door to the

Pin. What the customer really wanted for their new kitchen was a Mid-Century modern look that
would remain faithful to the houses original architecture but bring a current modern feel. Adding in a
nice big mirror, and some recessed can lights really brightened up the room and made it seem much
bigger and more inviting. To avoid the need for bullnose or exposed edges, our tile guy, Eugene,
meticulously mitered the outside corners of the niche for a really sleek look. In the old kitchen,
Andrei would have been standing behind a wall, and in the middle of the peninsula. And now that
the toilet is out of the way, we were able to put in a beautiful frame-less glass door, which again
contributes to the open spacious feel. That’s right, behind these classy doors, you will find good old
IKEA frames and hardware. I think too many people shy away from bold colors, but it seems like
every time one of my customers takes the risk and goes for it, it pays off.
This is just the guest bathroom, so they didn’t want to sink a whole lot of money into it, but,
outdated and cramped as it was, the bathroom was well overdue for an update. If the cabin is fairly
new, you can’t actually fasten the cabinets to the logs, because the logs are expected to shrink
dramatically in the first couple of years, and if the cabinets are securely fastened to them, they can
warp and actually come apart from the stress. The new master bath is a beautiful oasis, full of light
and space. Here we used the same mosaic as we did for the floor to create an accent. Seriously, what
a transformation, and I’m sure nobody’s missing those pink countertops right now. This kitchen is a
great example of how spending just a little extra on some accent pieces can turn a kitchen into a real
showpiece. It fits perfectly in this kitchen, and it’s a sustainable product. Another nice feature we
added is the heated tile floor. This along with the beautiful custom doors totally nailed the look our
customers were after. While the existing bathroom was in good shape, it was really small, and very
poorly designed. So we drew up some plans and after a few minor revisions we set to work. I think

expensive to tile all the way to the ceiling, but look at the dramatic difference it makes. In this

got in there, but fortunately it was still in great shape and just needed minimal repairs. But it's not for
lack of anything interesting to post, I assure you. This was a simple addition using matching panels
from the same material. For the accent doors, the customers chose our flat-sawn walnut. After calling
in specialists to clean up the smoke residue, they were able to assess the damage: the countertop and
cabinets around the dishwasher were damaged and because of all the smoke, the electronics in their
range were ruined, so by the time I came on the scene, their kitchen was somewhat functional,
except they were reduced to cooking their meals on a hot-plate. It was extra special for us because
this is the first kitchen to feature our new custom doors. All combined, the results are jaw-dropping
when compared to the original, cramped bathroom. The modern styling of the cabinets and the
quartz countertops create a striking contrast against the rustic logs. The lighter colored walls really
helped to brightened up the room.

To my regular readers and subscribers, I apologize. The new master bath is a beautiful oasis, full of
light and space. So we incorporated elements like Marmoleum tile flooring, traditional style
moldings, and a marble tile backsplash. Overall it was a fun and challenging installation, and as a
bonus, at the end of the day we were visited by a couple of elk who were surprisingly unfazed by the
construction noise we were making. It was extra special for us because this is the first kitchen to
feature our new custom doors. The modern styling of the cabinets and the quartz countertops create
a striking contrast against the rustic logs. May I ask where the cabinet fronts were purchased from.
So the biggest challenge I had was scribing the panels to the logs. This may seem like a luxury, but
it’s an efficient way to heat the room, and oh-so-nice on those cold, late-night, barefoot trips to the
bathroom. This along with the beautiful custom doors totally nailed the look our customers were
after. Inspired by transitional design, it features shaker style cabinet faces made by our very own
Unhinged Custom Doors. But it's not for lack of anything interesting to post, I assure you. It’s not
every day that we get the opportunity to work in such a peaceful story-book setting, so when we
were asked to come back and remodel the bathrooms, we jumped at the opportunity. Another cool
touch was the use of the white quartz on the island, and grey on the perimeter. In later stages of the
design Breanne and the customer agreed to refinish the floors and get back to the natural color of the
original wood, which was a great choice, and really lightened up the space. Vinyl floor, brass
hardware, and oak cabinets: yup, that's a 90s bathroom. They had been wanting to remodel their
kitchen for some time, but were finally pushed into it when their dishwasher caught fire, and ruined
their kitchen. IKEA is a registered trademark of Inter-IKEA Systems B.V. and is not affiliated with
