Determinants of The Triangle Theory of Fraud Financial Reporting
with Managerial Ownership as a Moderation Variable

1Student Doctor at Sultan Ageng Tiratayasa University, Banten, Indonesia,
2 University Teknologi Muhammadiyah

2The Faculty of Economics and Business at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University,

The purpose of this study is to identify fraudulent financial reporting utilizing Triangle theory
analysis with managerial ownership moderation. This study’s sample use the M-Score to assess false
financial reporting and corporate governance, with management ownership serving as a moderating
variable. This study’s sample consisted of 17 companies listed on the Sri Kehati stock exchange
between 2018 and 2021. External Pressure has a negative and severe impact on false financial
statements. Ineffective monitoring, rationalization, and managerial ownership have a favorable and
considerable impact on fraudulent financial reporting. The effects of external pressure, ineffective
monitoring, and rationalization on false financial statements cannot be mitigated by managerial
ownership. Regulators are urged to provide enabling regulations that can act as checks on all parties
involved in corporate financial reporting. Practical implications: Regulators are asked to provide
enabling rules that might serve as a check on everyone involved in a company’s financial data
reporting. The triangle theory of fraudulent financial reporting using a sample of Sri Kehati stock-
indexed enterprises and managerial ownership as a moderating variable.

Keywords: Pressure, fraud financial reporting, opportunity, managerial ownership, rationalization

The Effect Of Right Issue on Stock Return with Market Value Added
(MVA) as a Moderation Variable (Study of the Service Industry Sector Listed on
the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2018-2022 Period)
Kiki Saputri1 and Martinus Budiantara2
1 Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta

This study aims to test whether there is an effect of rights issue on stock returns with Market
Value Added (MVA) as a moderating variable. This study uses the event study research method with
a population of all companies that issue rights issue policies and have gone public. The sample
selection in this study used a purposive sampling method and for the data analysis method used was
a simple linear regression method using the Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) test as a
hypothesis test. The results of this study indicate that rights issues have a negative and significant
effect on stock returns of service industry companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the
2018-2022 period and MVA is able to moderate the relationship between rights issues on stock returns
negatively and significantly. Based on the test results of the MRA analysis tool, the MVA variable is
able to strengthen the relationship between rights issues and stock returns. The results of this study
are used as input for investors before deciding to invest in stocks, they should refer to the rights issue
and MVA. Based on the results of the above research, further research is expected not only to examine
for 5 years and is expected to increase the number of research samples.

Conflict of Interest in Dividend Policy
Ida Ayu Ary Putri Adnyani1 and Ni Ketut Rasmini1
1,2 Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University, Bali, Indonesia

Dividends are a kind of income given to shareholders by a corporation. Shares of a corporation

may be held by national organizations, international organizations, and the general public. In order to
better understand how debt policy, foreign institutions, public ownership, and national institutional
ownership affect dividend policy, this study will gather empirical data. From 2015 to 2019, there were
37 sample businesses on the Indonesia Stock Exchange with 130 observation samples from 77
manufacturing firms in the consumer products industrial sector. The sampling technique utilized is
called purposeful sampling. The results of the data's multiple regression analysis show that both local
and international institutional ownership have a negative effect on dividend policy. These results do
not support the "bird in hand" theory, but they do support the "customer effect hypothesis" and the
"tax preference theory." Public ownership or debt management techniques have no impact on
dividend policy.

Corporate Governance As A Predictor Of Financial Statement Fraud:
Systematic Literature Review
Putu Vidya Shania Devi1
1 Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University, Denpasar City

The purpose of this study is to identify and understand the role of corporate governance in
detecting fraudulent financial reporting. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and the
study population includes Scopus indexed articles from 2013 to 2022. We found that the corporate
governance structure consists of 5 components, namely auditors, board of directors, internal control,
shareholders, and performance. Our study do not indicate that each section can work together to
detect possible fraudulent financial statements, so collaboration from all components is required.
Future research can use e-resource such as Elsevier, Springer, Emerald Insight, and Wiley, as well as
the Scimago Country Rank (SJR) to determine article quality.

Investor Overreaction in Indonesian Stock Market After the Announcement
of First COVID-19 Case in Indonesia
I Gede Prabawa Adi Saputra1
1Faculty of Economics and Bussiness

This study aims to obtain empirical evidence regarding price overreaction by IDX investors
after the announcement of first COVID-19 case in Indonesia. Overreaction analysis was carried out in
11 IDX-IC sectors. Winner and loser shares were selected from the one third stock with the highest
CAR and lowest CAR from each sector. Dependent Paired Sample t-Test used by comparing the AAR
values of winner or loser stocks on the first 30 trading days with the next 30 trading days The results
showed that there was investor overreaction of loser stocks in the Infrastructure sector, the Financial
sector and the Technology sector. Overreaction of winner stocks occurred in the Consumer Non-
Cyclicals sector, the Energy sector, the Basic Materials sector, the Consumer Cyclicals sector and the
Property & Real Estate sector. These results support the overreaction hypothesis which states that
investors overreact to dramatic information and that will lead to corrections in the next period. Thus
investors can implement a contrarian strategy in investing by buying loser stocks and selling winner
stocks. The originality of this research is the analysis period after announcement of COVID-19 and
testing carried out in each sector.

Company Size on Audit Quality
Nawang Kalbuana1, Muhamad Taqi1, Lia Uzliawati1, Munawar Muchlish1
1Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University Politeknik Penerbangan Indonesia

Assess the effect of profitability, audit report lag, audit tenure, and company size on audit
quality in LQ 45 companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Employing an explanatory approach,
this study harnessed the power of panel data analysis. The analytical arsenal included the venerable
Ordinary Least Square (OLS) Regression method alongside the robust Robustness method. The
empirical data, sourced from the annual reports of LQ 45 constituents, spanned the dynamic period
of 2017 to 2021. Expected findings are profitability, audit report lag, and company size positively and
significantly affect audit quality. However, tenure audits do not have a significant impact on audit
quality. Research is limited to LQ 45 companies and the 2017-2021 time period. Results can assist
companies in managing their profitability strategies and audit policies to improve the quality of
financial statements. This study offers audit fees as a new measurement of audit quality variables, and
uses the perspective of agency theory in explaining the relationship between the variables studied.

Determinant of Tax Compliance Intention as Taxable Entrepreneur in Bali
I Putu Artha Satria Wibawa1
1Departement of Magister Accounting Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University

This study aims to examine the determinant of tax compliance intention as taxable entrepreneur
in Bali. This study develops three components of intention in Theory of Planned Behavior by raising
seven determinants to analyze the compliance intention of taxable entrepreneurs; attitudes (tax
morale, taxpayer awareness), subjective norms (tax fairness, trust in government), perceived
behavioral control (tax authority power, tax complexity, and tax information). The survey was
conducted by distributing questionnaires directly and indirectly to 100 registered taxable
entrepreneurs at all tax service offices in Bali using the proportional stratified random sampling
method, and analyzed using Smart - PLS. Based on the obtained findings tax morale, taxpayer
awareness, tax fairness, trust in the government, tax authority power, tax complexity, and tax
information were significant determinant of the Taxable Entrepreneur's Compliance Intentions. The
results of this study support and develop the theory of planned behavior in terms of value added tax.
The practical implications provide advice to each tax service office in Bali regarding the determinants
of the intention to comply with taxable entrepreneurs. This research examines the value added tax
compliance intention

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in Cloud Based Accounting Systems for Fraud
Prevention
Anak Agung Dwi Kristiyanthi1
1 Udayana University

The presence of cloud-based accounting is widespread for various businesses because there are
many improvisations from conventional systems, such as easy accessibility, which can cover large-
scale and real-time data that can be obtained. But there are still security challenges that arise because
the infrastructure of this system is remote. Artificial intelligence (AI) appears for those challenges.
With its algorithm, AI can process large amounts of data quickly and precisely, making it suitable for
detecting fraud in the scope of creating financial reports. AI empowers cloud accounting platforms to
proactively identify suspicious activity. This research is a qualitative method and was conducted in a
holding company that has various types. Interview techniques were conducted, and obtained the
result that the integration of AI in cloud accounting has good benefits for fraud prevention within the
company. Further research must focus on the development of AI, such as collaborative data sharing
for stronger defenses against fraud and blockchain integration to improve data integrity.

I Wayan Kurniawan Sadukari1
1Universitas Udayana

This study tried to now the influence of financial statement interventions on Mile Coffee's
business model adjustments during the pandemic. Employing a qualitative approach with a case
study methodology, the research involves data reduction, presentation, analysis, and conclusion. Data
is sourced from observations and literature reviews. The highest total income recorded by Mile Coffee
falls within the October 16 – November 15, 2019 period, exhibiting a substantial 19% growth,
equivalent to Rp. 44,740,000.00. Examination of the business model canvas underscores a noteworthy
transformation in Mile Coffee's strategy and business model. The pandemic prompted Mile Coffee to
diversify its product range beyond coffee, introducing food items such as toast, catering to a broader
audience. This shift deviates from solely targeting coffee enthusiasts. The business has also expanded
its scope to cater to individuals seeking relaxation, offering drinks and snacks for various purposes,
whether for work or leisure. Despite these adaptations, Mile Coffee maintains its identity as a brand
that embodies thriftiness, enjoyment, and a people-centric approach. However, the distinguishing
factor lies in its ability to deliver not only quality coffee but also a welcoming ambiance and customer-
oriented service. In the face of pandemic-induced challenges, Millennial's Es Kopi demonstrates
resilience by upholding its reputation for delivering pleasurable experiences to customers. Adapting
to evolving circumstances, they successfully attract patrons in search of a relaxed environment,
securing their sustainability and growth. The study contributes insights into the interplay between
financial reports, business model transformations, and overall business strategies, particularly within
rapidly evolving and uncertain environments, as seen during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Technology Organization Environment Factors on Cloud Accounting Adoption:
Quantitative And Qualitative Study Among Denpasar Small and Medium
Enterprises
Anak Agung Widya Adi Iswari1

Empirically testing and delving into knowledge regarding the relationship between external
factors (Technological, Organizational, and Environmental) and the utilization of cloud accounting in
the performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Denpasar. We approach this study using
qualitative and quantitative methods, wherein the qualitative aspect involves conducting interviews
with several owners. For the quantitative aspect, we distributed 100 questionnaires to SMEs in
Denpasar and processed the data using SmartLPS 3.0. The results show that relative advantage,
compatibility, owner support, organizational readiness, and competitive pressure have a significant
positive influence on the usage of cloud accounting. Similarly, the use of cloud accounting
significantly affects SMEs performance. This study is based on a few SMEs within the Denpasar
industry, with a relatively small sample size to depict the researched model. Interviews were
conducted with three informants, thus not fully exploring a broader range of perspectives. This paper
offers noteworthy practical implications and serves as a source of information for the research
community, vendors, and SME owners. It contributes to the development of improved strategies for
the adoption of cloud accounting by SMEs. This is the first known study to investigate the TOE model
in cloud accounting usage using both qualitative and quantitative methods, without limiting it to a
specific industry, as well as providing new insights into the factors influencing cloud accounting
usage.

Tax Avoidance Analysis
Anak Agung Sagung DewiLaksmi1
1Udayana University.

This study seeks to review research on tax avoidance so that it can provide a conceptual and
practical contribution that can explain the mechanism of tax avoidance. Mechanism of this study by
reviewing the research on tax avoidance through mapping theories, variables, and research findings
using the literature review method. Based on the findings of this study, several theories used by
previous researchers to explain tax avoidance practices, including Agency Theories, Compliance
Theories, Signaling Theories, Stakeholder Theories, and Rational Theories. Agency theory is the most
common theory explaining tax avoidance through agency problems. In measuring the performance of
agents in relation to their efforts to maximize firm performance, it tends to be measured in terms of
financial performance such as profitability, sales growth, and financial distress. The depth and
sharpness of analysis are challenges and limitations in research using the literature review method.
This study seeks to provide an overview of the factors that cause tax avoidance. This research raises
the issue of tax avoidance, which is a contemporary issue that must always be relevant to the current
situation, by using compliance theory according to Allingham & Sandmo (1972) which describes the
increasing dynamics of non-compliance based on the economic side.

The purpose of this study is to obtain empirical evidence of the influence of the determinants of
taxpayer compliance. This study used a qualitative approach with the literature review method. The
results of this study indicate that service quality and taxpayer awareness affect taxpayer compliance.

1 Politeknik Pariwisata Bali

This study investigates how innovation impacts tourism MSMEs during the Covid-19 pandemic
and the moderating role of entrepreneurial skills. This research adopts an explanatory positivist
approach and employs probability-based simple random sampling. It surveys 200 owners or
managers representing MSMEs in Bali's tourism sector, encompassing restaurants, hotels, lodges, bars,
water sports, and travel agencies. To assess hypotheses and construct an appropriate model, a
variance-based or component-based approach with Partial Least Squares (PLS) is utilized. The
research underscores the significant, positive impact of product and market innovation on MSME
performance, with entrepreneurial skills amplifying their influence. Surprisingly, no substantial
correlation was observed between process innovation and performance, suggesting that
entrepreneurial skills may not effectively moderate the relationship between them. The study's scope
remains constrained to specific MSME sectors within the expansive tourism industry, thus limiting its
generalizability. This study anticipates yielding insights into the impact of innovation on enhancing
MSME performance, with entrepreneurial skills serving as a moderating factor. This research
represents a pioneering approach by incorporating entrepreneurial skills as a moderating factor in
examining the impact of innovation on performance, an area relatively unexplored in prior studies.

Pharmaceutical distribution companies or also known as PBF (Pharmaceutical Drug

Wholesalers) play an important role in the distribution of pharmaceutical products in Indonesia.
Without the role of PBF, the drug will not reach the patients from the manufacturer. The PBF
appointed by the manufacturer to distribute the product, has operational performance targets that
must be achieved. However, like other businesses, PBF operational performance is also affected by
external factors, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, government regulations and competition intensity.
The impact of internal factor such as limited company resources is also investigated on in this
research. This current study tries to explore the impact of external factors, those are: the pandemic of
COVID-19, government regulations, competition intensity and internal factor that is company’s
limited resources to PBF operational performance. Sales strategy is also used as mediating variable
from external and internal factors to operational performance, thus operational control as moderating
variable from sales strategy to operational performance respectively. Data collection was obtained by
questionnaires and interviews with 44 PBF operational leaders in Bali, Indonesia. The data collected
processed using Smart PLS 3.0. The result shows that the COVID-19 pandemic, government
regulations, competition intensity and company’s limited resources have negative impact to
company’s operational performance. Sales strategy serves as mediating variable from external and
internal factors to operational performance. Operational control plays a significant role in moderating
sales strategy and operational performance. The theoretical implication of this research is to
strengthen The Contingency Theory which states that the business environment, strategy, and control
are three important contingency factors that have a correlation between them. The results of this study
also strengthen the concept of Transaction Cost Theory which states that the relationship between the
parties in a transaction is not only limited to a buying and selling dichotomy, but is also associated
with rights and obligations which is poured into a very detail agreement. The operational
performance required by the principal to PBF is also included in the agreement and PBF should strive
to achieve that operational performance.

Poverty Trap
Andi Ahmad Haidir1
1Udayana University

This research aims to examine the role of access to basic education in alleviating poverty trap
in Indonesia with the social progress perspective. This research is based on the Amartya Sen approach
of capability deprivation. We used educational data from the BPS (Badan Pusat Statistik) in 2022 from
34 provinces in Indonesia. The data was used to construct a social progress index. The index of access
to basic education then regressed with other variables that relevant to capability deprivation. Access to
basic education, happiness, and democracy positively reduce poverty, while health inequality and
crime rate increase it. Basic education has the strongest impact, emphasizing its crucial role in breaking
the poverty cycle. Limited single-time data hampers generalizability. Replicating across years is needed
to verify relationships' robustness and consistency. Analysis confirms access to basic education has
significant impact on poverty. Enhancing access is vital for policymakers to prioritize poverty
reduction. Research emphasizes Social Progress Index's value for comprehensive development
assessment, beyond GDP. Policymakers should use its indicators to guide poverty and education
policies in Indonesia and similar nations.

emissions produced. The partial test results show that only the human development index has a
significant positive relationship to CO2 emissions in 2000-2020 in ASEAN, even after using population
size as a control variable, the effect is still strong. This means that increasing the quality of human
resources and development carried out does not guarantee that environmental pollution will decrease,
in other words, concern for sustainable development in most ASEAN countries is still low. Thus, in
developing countries, the government's role is needed in making regulations and incentives that can
lead to sustainable development.

This paper aims to determine the possibility of using stock market as a leading indicator to
forecast recessions. The study using a literature review approach to gather and analyze relevant
research articles. A thorough examination of the methodologies, findings, and limitations of these
studies will be conducted to assess the effectiveness of using the stock exchange as a predictor of
economic downturns. The study anticipates uncovering a range of research endeavors that have
explored the correlation between stock market performance and recessions. It is expected that there
will be varying degrees of support for the use of the stock exchange as a leading indicator. Given the
dependence on existing literature, potential limitations include data inconsistencies, variations in
methodologies, and the scope of available research. The study's outcomes could provide policymakers,
investors, and financial analysts with recessions warning signals in decision-making. This study
contributes to existing knowledge by reviewing available literature on using stock exchanges as leading
indicators for recession forecasting.

The impact of government regulation on the mining industry is captivating to explore,

specifically the newly reformed Coal Royalty Tariff. This present research captures the market’s
response to two tariff policy reforms, namely the Indonesian Government Regulation Number 25 of
2021 and Government Regulation Number 15 of 2022 building upon the semi strong form market
efficiency. T-Test analysis is used to test the hypothesis in which the abnormal returns from sample
companies in the mining sector on the Indonesia Stock Exchange surround the enactment of
government regulation. There is no abnormal return that occurred around the enactment of
Government Regulation Number 25 of 2023, while the enactment of Government Regulation Number
15 of 2022 do generate abnormal return. Results imply a solid relationship between changes in risk and
the investors expected future profitability as investors expectations are depicted in the stock price
movements. This concludes that uncertainty following changes in governments regulation constitutes
an additional premium required by the investors. Our findings provide empirical evidence to the
literature regarding market response to the implementation of policies, especially the government
should give proper attention to the issue of determining tariffs and investors should evaluate their
required premium based on the impact of tariff changes.
