{5B The following dialogue contains a number of
examples of the Present Perfect Simple. Which of
them should be changed to the Present Perfect
Continuous to make the conversation sound more
natural?
eipc Hil How are you? I haven't seen you for ages
What have you done?
‘anne: Oh, not much, but! did get a job!
Heuew: Really! Where?
ANNE: At the big supermarket near the church. I've
worked there for about six weeks now ... But
what about you? You look great, really fit!
Heten: Yes, wel, I've played a lot of sport recently and
I had a week’s holiday in the south of Spain.
Have you heard from Alan at all?
No, it funny. ve tried to contact him, but
keep getting an answerphone message. Its very
irftating. I've phoned him at least five times.
WD Work with a partner and roleplay the following
situation. Use the Present Perfect Continuous where
appropriate
Student A is a tenant in a block of flats. Shethe is not
at all happy because of the behaviour of one of the
other tenants
Student B is the landladyllandiord of the block of
flat.
Student A should go and see Student B and explain
\what has been happening and why sheshe is not
happy. Here are some examples of what shefhe might
want to complain about
= loud music late at night
= DIY noises (hammering, sawing, etc.) on Sundays
~ constant rows and shouting
= rubbish left in the corridors
= children drawing graffiti on the walls
Student B should listen to Student As complaints and
then say what she/he can or can’t do about each one.

some kind. This may involve you assessing good and
bad points of something and making a
recommendation. To answer this question well it is
particularly important that you:
