General Objectives

Specific Objectives
Students should be able to:
1. The students will be able to properly pronounce words that have a ‘th’ sound.
2. The students will be able to identify and differentiate ‘th’ words from other sounds
3. The students will be able to interpret the sentences they are reading by mastering their
comprehensive skills through drawing and dictation.
Teaching Aids Used – White board, duster, markers, worksheet.
Instructional Teaching Aids
Collaboration: The use of an interactive drawing activity which will incorporate team work to
peek their interest on ‘th’ words.
Previous Knowledge assumed
The students are assumed to have previous knowledge and an understanding of the sound of the
both letters together ‘th’. However, some lack knowledge of identifying words with that sound
when reading and may also experience difficulty in the formation of letters when writing.
Previous Knowledge testing
In order to test the previous knowledge of the students. The teacher will ask the following
questions.
a) What is this letter – T and what sound it makes?
b) What is this letter – H and what sound it makes?
c) How do we say this word – “Thursday”
Introduction
The teacher will introduce the topic “Think it – Words with the ‘Th’ sound”. This will be done
through the use of a song.
Presentation
Methodology A song will be played in the beginning of the
class to help them become familiar with the
sound ‘th’ and at the ending to reinforce the
pronunciation.
The students will be placed into two separate
groups. Each group will be provided will
select 2 persons; one to read the sentence and
the other to draw/depict what was said in the
sentence.
Assessment Students are given an activity in the form of a
worksheet. Students will be requested to fill
in the empty spaces with missing letters ‘th’,
circle the words with the ‘th’ sounds and
practice writing the new words they learned;

Evaluation
The students have acquired the knowledge of ‘th’ sound, practiced pronouncing words with the
sound and identifying those words when presented with a paragraph. This will be evaluated
through the use of the activity as mentioned in the assessment column previously. Students will
be required to fill in the blanks using the letters ‘th’ to form the word on the worksheet, identify
the words with the ‘th’ sound by circling them within the paragraph and practice the formation of
the letters through mini dictation as seen further down the worksheet.
