Our story begins in the Rogue Encampment located in the world of Sanctuary.

It is a makeshift
town located near the Stony Field. As it’s name designates, it is the camp set up by the survivors
of the battle at the Rogue Monastery. The rogue monastery was attacked by the forces of hell in
an effort by Diablo to create a stronghold on Sanctuary against the forces of Heaven. Many were
slain or fallen at this battle as Andariel led the charge and took over the body of one of Heavens
leaders Tyrael. When Tyrael succumbed to the darkness all seemed lost on the battlefield until
the few members remaining of the sisterhood of the sightless eye took charge and ordered a
retreat. After bloody battles that lasted for days, the few who survived and were able to retreat
then formed this town to help defend against the forces of Hell. This encampment now hosts
only six members, but they are hoping that you can help rescue a seventh, one who may be able
to help guide the next generation of heroes against the forces of Hell. The leader of the
encampment currently is Akara, High Priestess of the Sisterhood, and is known for her Healing
and Trade services for spellcasters. Charsi is the blacksmith of the Order and can help with Trade
and Repair services. Warriv is a Caravan trader who provides access to the towns in the east
when travel is advisable. Gheed is a Merchant in town with a lust for Money, he can provide
Trade and Gambling services. There is also Flavie one of the Elite Scouts of the Order who
protects the encampment from any encroaching enemies. Kaysha is the last member of the
encampment who is the Captain of the Rogue Archers, who currently has the rest of her Archers
to the city in the east Lut Ghulein helping the townsfolk recover and band together after hordes
of demons broke out through the Arcane Sanctuary and attacked the Town. You were all sent
letters asking for assistance in a matter by Akara. She sent messages throughout all of the main
cities left standing asking for heroes to help in a dangerous quest, over 200 messages were sent,
but you were the only ones brave enough to come help.

Hail and well met travelers! It is I Akara, and I thank you for coming, but I must warn you that
this will be a dangerous mission. As you know the forces of Hell are invading everywhere and
trying to take over Sanctuary one town at a time. It is against this that we all must fight, and hope
to one day rid ourselves of these demons and foul creatures. There is a man named Deckard
Cain, who you may have heard of by his other name Cain the Elder. He is the last living human
in the line of Horadric Mages, and is descended from Jered Cain who had imprisoned Diablo
two-hundred years prior. If not for the Traitor Mephisto, he would still be imprisoned to this day.
Cain has been schooled in the most obscure lore and history of the arcane and may be the only
one left alive who can help guide us as to how to rid Sanctuary of Diablo and his minions once
and for all. Cain is the only known survivor of Tristram’s destruction save for Mephisto. Cain,
rather than being killed by the demons, was left in a cage near the well in the center of the town
to die. He is however still believed to be guarded by an unknown demon, and this is where we
need you. You must travel to Tristram and rescue Deckard Cain from his cage and bring him
back to us. The journey to Tristram is too far by foot however, and would take you months, and
we fear Cain does not have that long left to survive. You must travel by way of the Cairn Stones
located somewhere in the Stony Field. In order to activate these Stones however you must find
the Cairn Rune Scroll located on the bark of the Sacred Tree of Inifuss.To find the Tree of
Inifuss, you must travel to the Dark Wood, accessible only through the Underground Passage in
Stony Field. The Tree of Inifuss is typically located by itself, and is guarded by the creature
known as Treehead Swordfists. Once you receive this scroll you must come back here so I can
translate the runes and infuse them with enough magic to help open the portal to Tristram. I will
give you this scroll for when you find the Tree of Inifuss. This is a scroll of Town Portal, and
with it, you may create a portal to this encampment and instantly transfer through. This scroll
will work only once however, so do not create it too early. Once I have translated the runes and
infused them with magic you must then go to the Cairn Stones and touch the stones in the correct
order in order to open the Portal. Once inside Tristram, find and rescue Deckard Cain and return
him to us! I will personally reward you all with a magical ring if you can bring Cain back to this
encampment.

a circular pattern.

You see a path from the Stones leading away from the stones towards a Mountain Range as tall
as you have ever seen. They appear to be white and covered in snow and above them a storm
rages.
As you follow the path for another hour, you approach the mountain and see a passageway
leading under the mountain. Once inside, there is 0 visible light.

Welcome back Travelers. Was there difficulty in finding the scroll or defeating the guardian?
Now that we have the scroll I can spend the rest of the night translating and infusing magic into
this scroll. I implore that you spend the night in our encampment and get refreshed for tomorrow
will be another day of travel for you. If all goes well you hopefully will return here tomorrow
night with Cain. While you are in our camp I implore you to please help yourself to our meals, I
believe there is some stew from tonight's dinner still on the fire. Please have a bowl and enjoy
the fire’s warmth.
