I. Write a statement or 2 about the following terms: (10 pts.)
a. Computer virus
● A type of malware that are designed to spread from one computer
to another, causing data damage or destruction and widespread
disruption

b. Malware
● It is a catch-all phrase for the malicious computer programs that
hackers employ to cause havoc and access private data, such as
viruses, worms, and trojans.
c. Spyware
● A computer program that is installed on your computer, usually
without your knowledge, and which records and communicates
personal information or specifics about your Internet browsing
behavior to its user.

d. Web crawlers
● They are searching and indexing robots for websites. In order to
give their users better results, search engines like Google employ
them to assist in the discovery of new websites.

e. bots
● This is a piece of software that executes routine, repetitive, and
automated actions. Typically, bots mimic or take the role of human
user activity.

Overall: Bitdefender can be downloaded for free and by its performance, it

has the ability to protect the OS from threats in real time and will do so. It will
also regularly update its threat database and stop web attacks and fraud. It
adjusts its performance to the hardware and software so that your operating
system isn't overloaded.

Pros: The paid version features a 30-day trial period, and both the paid and
free versions have customer assistance. It is regarded as the finest malware
detection in its class. It has flexible adaptability whether what your device’s
specs are. Even in the free trial version, it offers built-in VPN and tracking
protection.

Cons: There is no customer assistance available for MacOS's free version.

Additionally, the capability of the iOS apps is limited. Since Bitdefender does not
offer VPN services, there are some limitations while utilizing it. It could be
expensive to purchase the paid version of this, making it somewhat pricy.

Reasons for Choosing Bitdefender: It offers outstanding anti-phishing

security in addition to defense against a variety of other web-based threats.

Overall: It is a place where to store personal files which is very convenient to

use. Good thing to this is that you can privately work on it but you can share it
but the default is privacy. Only you can manage and control the drive whether
you want to share it or not. But it has pros and cons with its privacy.

Pros: Its excellent security system is a very positive aspect. This is really
useful and accessible whenever and anywhere. Because access to your data
is severely constrained, you can feel assured in its security. Users can specify
a Kbps cap on the amount of bandwidth they're willing to give OneDrive access
to for uploads and downloads.
Cons: Microsoft encrypts data, so they are also equipped to decrypt it if
necessary. Unfortunate restrictions exist on the types of data that OneDrive
can sync and store. Some businesses think OneDrive can act as a user
endpoint backup since it can synchronize data and create backup copies in the
cloud.

Alternatives Considered: eFileCabinet, Dropbox, Apple iCloud, Google Drive

Reasons for Choosing OneDrive: It makes files accessible for collaboration

from any location.

enables users to optimize data storage in a secure and safe manner.

Cons: The GUI contains some settings and capabilities that call for program
upgrades.

Alternatives Considered: AOMEI Partition Assistant SE, Active Partition Manager

EaseUS Partition Master, GParted

Reasons for Choosing Mini Tool Partition Wizard: By generating, converting,

and resizing partitions between FAT32 and NTFS without reformatting, this
software can increase the speed of your disk.

data and reduce the size of their files. It has a very clear interface which is
very easy to manage and use. It features a unique compression method that

files.

Pros: It offers a compression algorithm that is optional and specially designed

for multimedia data. It guarantees data dependability by fixing physically
damaged files and locking a file to stop future changes.

Cons: Some of the review's drawbacks are that these files could be misused
to get and illegitimately disseminate a lot of copyrighted materials.

Reasons for Choosing WinRAR: I've been using this compression and
archiving tool since before the epidemic, and it's simple to use and has a lot of

disable its installation. There will be many pop-ups will encounter so it may annoy
sometimes.

SystemCare Free, Piriform, Cleaner, Ashampoo, WinOptimizer

Reasons for Choosing CCleaner: I will not highly recommend this software but
it can be useful. It can clean up junks and may remove unnecessary files from
Windows, Android, Mac, and more than 300 other apps to make room for new
files and to aid in problem solving.

Pros: Suitable for all operating systems. both local and cloud backups are
protected. Additionally, a 30-day free trial of the free edition is available. mirror
operating system pictures are conceivable.

Cons: Software requires a lot of storage and resources. Incompletely developed

applications. Not very practical due to being too complex for straightforward
backups and it has server issues.

Alternatives Considered: Backblaze, Carbonite, EaseUS ToDo Backup,

NovaBackup

Reasons for Choosing Acronis True Image: This software can be useful in
many different ways such as scalable, software-defined storage solution that
mixes workloads for files, blocks, and objects.
