INTRODUCTION
TO FOREX
WHAT IS
FOREX TRADING?
Forex is the biggest currency market in the world!

This market has been opened for everyone to trade since 1994 and its
trade volume can reach up to $5 Trillion every day.

Forex (FX) : Foreign Exchange

Similar to other businesses, Forex trading includes the process of buying

one currency at a low price and selling it back when the price has increased
to gain profit.

Forex happens to be a very popular investment because it has very high

returns.

Profits can reach up to 100% in a span of one day. Due to the market’s very
fast pace, it is undeniable that Forex can also be quite risky. Anyone can
experience losses when they do not have enough knowledge to trade.

That is where we can help

HISTORY
OF FOREX
Foreign Exchange that we know today began in 1973, but the trading of
currencies has actually existed since the first coin was introduced in
ancient Egypan mes. Aer World War II ended, the US’ economy has
been solid compared to most European countries. The US Dollar was
very popular back then and was verified as the global currency.

In 1982 the currency pair was created for the first me and offered as a
purchase opon to the United States, and more currencies appeared in
1983.

By 1987, both the United Kingdom and the United States were fully
traded in foreign exchange, but there were many more countries such as
China, South Korea and Iran (in 1991) that parcipated.

The first online trading of the currency took place in 1994, which in turn
led to the development of the Euro currency in Europe. The rise of the
Euro threatens the dominance of the US Dollar as a global reserve
currency. The euro is currently the official currency in 19 European
countries.

FOREX
FOR MUSLIMS
Forex trading law in Islamic countries is one of the hot topics discussed.
There are those who say it is haram, some say it should be. The law of
forex trading is a must if there is an element of gambling, usury and an
element of SWAP.

If there is, it will connue to be illegal. When we trade, there is a need for
knowledge in the trade so that there is no element of gambling where
we only guess the price fluctuaons without any analysis and basis
(fundamentals).

A swap -free account is an account that should be used by Muslim

traders if they want to trade forex.

Trade for the sake of knowledge. Forex is not a place to gamble!

WHAT MOVES THE
FOREX MARKET?

One of the reasons is 'supply and demand'.

The world needs more US dollars, so at the same me the value of the
dollar increases. When there are too many US dollars circulang in the
market, then the price of the currency goes down.

The forces that move the market can also reflect changes in the value
of a currency. In addion, other factors such as interest rates, new
economic data from the largest countries and geopolical tensions can
also affect the price of a country's currency.

STOCKS vs FOREX
STOCKS FOREX
1. Traders buy and sell stocks 1. Traders buy and sell currency

2. There are thousand of stocks 2. There are 6 main global currencies

3. Buyers and sellers are limited 3. Buyer and sellers are unlimited

4. Some stocks are harder to sell 4. Easy to buy and sell

5. Can only be traded during 5. Can be traded 24 hours a day,
working hours. 5 days a week
6. One way market 6. Two way market

To buy and sell stocks, investors must open an account and register with Bursa
Malaysia through a brokerage company, while for Forex, they only need to
register through an online Forex broker.

Invesng in stocks involves companies listed on Bursa Malaysia. As for Forex, it

involves all the world's foreign currencies such as USD, EUR, JPY, GPB, WON and
so on.

There are two ways to transact money into and out of the account: -Through
'online banking'
-Through a registered stock remisier/dealer.

Therefore, Forex traders need to deposit through exisng brokers and all deposit
or withdrawal maers only through online brokers.

Stock gains are through the performance of counters/companies purchased in

addion to a small influence on the economy and polics while Forex is based on
the performance of world currencies.

It always involves a number of polical factors, the world economy, and others.

TIME TO
TRADE FOREX
The Forex currency market runs 24/7 but can only be traded on Monday to
Friday only (5 days). This is because brokers close on Sundays including
general holidays.

In a day, not every me the market is full! There are brisk mes, there are
slow mes. The London and New York sessions were the most frequent. In
these two sessions, there is an overlap me.

Market sessions can be used as a guide to determine which currencies are

the most traded. Usually, Monday the market is slow due to the new
market opening.

In the middle of the week, the market is the most acve. Friday is a beer
me to close all posions or make a breakeven because it is the last day for
the week.

Bid: The price you sell.

Ask: The price you buy, Value of ‘Ask’ is usually higher than ‘Bid’

Spread: Difference of Bid/ Ask (Broker Charge)

Every pair has different spreads set by the broker. There are brokers using
fixed spreads and there are also those who charge in the shape of floang
trades or both simultaneously. This changes from me to me.

PIP & SWAP

PIP : (Percentage in Points) is the value of the change in a pair. A pip is the
smallest price movement that can be made by an exchange rate based on the
Forex market. How to calculate pips:

1 PIP = 10 Points

Example:

SL 25 PIPS = 20 Points

Buy
SL = 64.869 Point
TP = 64.868 Point = 250 Point
= 65.118 Point = 65.118 Price.

Swap : Charges will be imposed by the broker if there is a posion that has
not been closed or carried over to the next day. Posive or negave swaps
depend on the number of lots. Swap rates change from me to me. To avoid
swaps, you can open an Islamic account if you want (Swap Free).

© 2021 PIPS30
BALANCE, EQUITY,
MARGIN, FREE MARGIN
& MARGIN LEVEL

Balance is the amount of funds in your account.

Equity = Balance + Flowing Profit / Loss

If you do not have an open posion then Equity = Balance

If you have an open posion (open) with a temporary profit (floa )ng
profit) USD 500, then:

Equity = Balance + USD 500

If you experienced a loss while floang USD 600 then:

Equity = Balance – USD 600

Margin is connected with Leverage. If you choose leverage 1:100 then

your promised fund is 1% of the contract value. If your leverage is 1:200
then the promised fund is 0.5% of the contract value.

If you open a regular account (standard) and trade EUR/USD, GBP/USD,

AUD/USD atau NZD/USD, then your contract value for 1 lot is USD
100,000.

© 2021 PIPS30
In this case, calculaon for Margin is:

Margin : (USD 100,000) x (total lot or volume) x (margin percentage) x

(current market price)

Example: Open a standard account with leverage 1:200, buy 2 EUR/USD

lot at the price of 1.0885, then margin is: (USD 100,000) x 2 x 0.5% x
1.0885: USD 1,088.50

Free Margin is the difference between Equity and total Margin to open a
posion (if there are several posions sll open). If there is no posion,
all funds in the account are Free.

Free Margin = Equity - Margin total

For example, the total fund is USD 5,000, and there are some posions
that are sll open with a total margin of USD 1,750 and posions that
profit USD 870, which lose USD 240, then: Equity = USD 5,000 + USD 870
- USD 240 = USD 5,630.

Free Margin = USD 5,630 - USD 1,750 = USD 3,880 Margin Level is also
called 'Margin Call Level' or Level where you will be exposed to 'Margin
Call'. 'Margin Level' (in percent) is the comparison between Equity and
total Margin.

Margin Level = (Equity / Margin total) x 100%

Usually brokers set Margin Level = 80% - 100% to charge Margin Call ( ap
different brokers). Suppose you trade with a broker that applies the 100%
Margin Level rule for Margin Call, and you sll have USD 5,000 with some
trading posions sll open and a total loss (outside the margin), with a
total margin of USD 500.

© 2021 PIPS30
MARGIN CALL
& STOP OUT

Margin Call (MC) and Stop Out (SO) indicates the limit on the amount of
equity that is determined to experience a loss or a floang loss correcon.

Balance: The amount of funds in the account.

Equity: Balance + Profit / Loss
Profit floang: Open a profitable posion.
Loss floang: Open a posion that has a loss.

MC and SO are determined from the Margin Level.

Margin Level: (Equity / Margin total) x 100%

MC: 100%, meaning if Margin Level: 100%, then it will be exposed to MC. In
this case, the MC will be affected when Equity: Total Margin.

SO: 30%, meaning that if Margin Level: 30%, then SO will be affected, and
trading will be stopped. In this case, it will be SO when Equity: 30% of the
total Margin.

BROKER
Forex brokers offer important services for the market, especially for
retail Forex traders.

Since they started operaons in the retail market, brokers have helped
open up many opportunies that previously did not exist for individual
traders.

Brokers also offer valuable services to help traders understand price

movements that have the potenal to generate profits.

With an internet connecon and a computer or mobile phone, traders

can now open a Forex account and trade in a market that was previously
only accessible to banks, large corporaons and financial instuons, as
well as very wealthy individuals.

BROKER TYPES

Market Maker (Dealing Desk)

The currency price in the broker is man -made. That is, the price you see
in the chart comes from an internal broker and not from an interbank or
liquidity provider (LP).

Due to fierce compeon from brokers to aract customers, the price

they offer is almost the same as the interbank. Market makers make a
profit from spreads and hedging with their customers.

There are 2 types of No Dealing Desk (NDD):

1. Straight Through Processing (STP)

Most STP brokers offer variable spreads. If the spread between liquidity
providers increases, the spread that reaches the trader also increases.
There are also brokers offering fixed spreads.

2. Electronic Communicaon Network (ECN)

ECN brokers charge a commission and there is a markup on the spread.
Pricing comes from LPs and other ECN traders.

INTRODUCTION

TYPE OF CHARTS

The chart is in the form of a simple Shows the same price info as the
line, in which the line connects Bar Chart, but in a more perfect
from one previous closing price to graphical format. The Candlesck
the next closing price. By looking Chart also shows the range of the
at the series of lines, we can see highest price to the lowest price,
the general price movement of a not with a vercal line, but in the
currency pair over a period of form of a rod. However, in a
me. candlesck chart, the stem (or
body) shows the range between
the opening and closing prices.

It is a combinaon of all lines (vercal and
horizontal) formed in one component. A bar is just a
segment of me, whether it's a day, a week, or an
hour. So we can combine the bar chart according to
the Time Frame used.

© 2021 PIPS30
OHLC
If CLOSE is above OPEN, it can be said that the CANDLE will be BULLISH which
means the stock market is going up.

Bullish Candle can be seen with BLUE CANDLESTICK. Most plaorms will use
BLUE CANDLE as a sign of BULLISH MARKET but it is not always in blue. Some
also use other colors. Follow what suits you best.

Also, if CLOSE is below OPEN, we can say that the CANDLE will be BEARISH
which means the stock market is declining.

Candlescks are shaped from

OPEN , HIGH , LOW & CLOSE
following the me frame that we
use.

Body length refers to STRONG BUYING or SELLING PRESSURE. If there is a

candle that is CLOSE above the OPEN with a long body, it means the boom
of the BUYER is stronger and they will take over control of the Market in that
me.

On the other hand if the BEARISH candle which is OPEN above CLOSE with a
long body, it means SELLING PRESSURE controls the Market in that me. The
short and small body, on the other hand, shows lile acvity of buying or
selling.

CANDLESTICK
PATTERNS

One of the most powerful trading concepts, easy to recognize and is a

profitable Trading Setup.

Studies have confirmed that this PATTERN has a high predicve value.
Candlesck paern is like a language for us to understand about the
market that has taken place.

© 2021 PIPS30

This is how the Engulfing Bar looks like on the chart. If Bearish Engulfing
Bar, it tells us that the seller is controlling the market.

When this paern occurs at the end of an uptrend, it tells us that the
Buyer is swallowed or dominated by the Seller which indicates a reversal
trend signal.

As in the picture, we can see when 'Bearish Engulfing' occurs at the end
of the uptrend.

So from here we can expect that the market is a REVERSAL TREND be-
cause the buyer sll does not control the market and the seller is trying
to push the market down.

© 2021 PIPS30

Bullish Engulfing Bar tells us the market is no longer under the control
of the Seller and the Buyer will dominate the market.

When a Bullish Engulfing candle is formed during an UPTREND, it indi-

cates a signal connuaon and when a Bullish Engulfing candle is
formed during a DOWNTREND, it is very likely that a change of trend to
an UPTREND can happen.

The picture above shows us how the market changed direcon aer
the formaon of the Bullish Engulfing Bar paern.

A small body indicates selling power is protected by a second body that

represents buying power.

© 2021 PIPS30

This pair is created when the open high and close are almost the same
price.

Another feature is the long lower shadow which indicates bullish rejec-
on from buyers and they want to push the market higher.

Hammer is a candlesck reversal that occurs at the end of a

down-trend.

This candle is formed when the seller forces the market to a low price
aer opening but the buyer pushes the price so that the market closes
higher.

© 2021 PIPS30

Happens when OPEN is low and CLOSE is almost the same as OPEN.

This candle is a small body and a long upper shadow. It is the ‘Bearish
Hammer’ version.

When this pair occurs in an uptrend, it indicates a ‘Bearish Reversal

Signal’.

The formaon of this pair marks the end of the uptrend and the begin-
ning of the downtrend.

This panel can be used with support & resistance, supply & demand.

© 2021 PIPS30
€

Morning Star paern is considered a Bullish Reversal Paern, it always

happens at the boom of the downtrend and has 3 candlescks:

First candle is a decline that indicates that the seller is sll in the
market.

A small second candle indicates the seller is in control, but they are not
pushing the market down.

Third candle is a bullish candlesck that gaps up when OPEN and CLOSE
above the dot/ middle price level on the first day, this candlesck gives
a trend reversal signal.

© 2021 PIPS30

Considered a 'Bearish Reversal Paern' which usually occurs above the

uptrend. This paern has 3 candlesck paerns:

First candle is a bullish candle. (Bulls are sll pushing the market higher)

Second candle is a small candle, it can be bullish, bearish, doji or other

candlesck. It's uncertain. (Buyers are sll in control but they are not as
powerful as they were)

Third candle is a large bearish candle. In general, this evening star pat-
tern is a bearish version of the morning star paern. (Buyer’s domina-
on is over, and a possible bearish trend reversal is likely to happen)

MARKET
MANAGEMENT
4
MARKET CYCLE
One of the strategies is to
buy aer the price moves
away from the resistance
level (Buy/Sell on breakout).
This is Wyckoff’s market
cycle theory.

Smart Money (SM) has recognized the low/ cheap price market and
started collecng in large quanes. Usually the price will be in a state of
"sideways" (horizontal) and this phase takes a long me, it may even
reach many years.

€‚ƒ

At this point, the stocks collected by SM have started to move up aer

passing the resistance level of a price. During this phase SM will let the
market rise neutrally.

© 2021 PIPS30
„

At this phase, SM will find the price that is already at its peak price and
start releasing their holdings.

The bullish momentum will decrease/ disappear due to the acve release
of shares by them. Usually buyers who pass by will be stuck here.

€

Once SM gives up all their shareholdings, the share price will start to fall
due to more interest in buying shares on a large scale.

SM will wait for prices to fall at what they consider low to regroup. The
collecon process will take a long me.

Using this theory, the volume bar indicator is very important to confirm
the price movement because it is closely related to "demand" and
"supply".

Price movement compared to volume is very important to know the

direcon of stock price movement.

Price movements are based on two types of trends, namely Bullish

SUPPORT &
RESISTANCE

Support & Resistance (SNR) is a zone.

The simple language is Roof (Resistance) and Floor (Support). The

strength of SNR can be seen through the frequency of price return
(retest) in the zone.

If it happens, it means that the breakout zone is not strong. Make sure it
is in a fresh zone. Can try to do a back test to see the previous SNR level.

Support = Zone below the market price (Low). Buy at Support!

Resistance = Zone above the market price (High). Sell at Resistance!

NOTE: ALWAYS LOOK LEFT FOR THE NEAREST SNR!

The red circle indicates a price that bounces or changes direcon at that
level, and a blue circle indicates that whenever the price returns to that
level it will hold on to Support.

The red circle indicates the price that remained at that level for quite
some me before the market went down. Then every me the price
returns to that level it will survive as Resistance.

IDENTIFYING SUPPORT
& RESISTANCE

What do we see from the image above to determine Support &

Resistance?

If the Support or Resistance area is always tested, and the price is not
successfully penetrated (break), then the stronger the area, it can be said
to be a major Support/ Resistance area.

Price is currently in the area between major Support/ Resistance. There

must be an area that will also be a point back which can be said as a
minor Support/minor Resistance area.

If the Resistance area is successfully penetrated (break), then the area

has the potenal to become a Support area. Vice versa.

2. Available on LARGE Time Frames namely H1, H4, Daily, Weekly or

Monthly.

3. The larger the meframe, the stronger the SNR.

4. STRONG SNR is available on large meframe H1 and above.

5. WEAK SNR is available on meframe M30 down.

6. Price needs a breakout (Tembus) areas of SNR and CLOSE body, then
SNR will break. If only the shadow comes out, it is not a breakout but is
called a "SHADOW KILLER" which puts a SELL or BUY trader posion.

BREAKOUT

BREAKOUT can only occur aer the body candlesck close passes the
previous highest or lowest price.

If you want to use shadow as a BREAKOUT signal, you need to go to a

lower me frame unl it finds a candlesck that successfully closes
above the previous highest or lowest price.

However, this method is very risky because the smaller the me frame
used, the more risk of a "false signal"

© 2021 PIPS30
Why is BREAKOUT important?

It is the inial signal of the next price direcon. When a breakout

occurs, the market is telling where the price is going to go aer this.

But, keep in mind that a breakout is not a confirmaon for the

market to follow the breakout signal.

Several other things need to be taken into account as confirma on to

determine whether the breakout is valid or doesn't depend on the
techniques used to analyze the market.

Can you BREAKOUT only with shadows or no?

The answer is NO.

Breakouts can occur by means of body candlesck close above the

highest price before or the lowest price before.

During this retracement, the Paern Chart will be formed.

If what is formed is a Connuaon Paern, then the market price will
