Self-Calibrating Resistive Voltage Divider

1) A new design of resistive voltage divider (RVD) with serial-parallel connection has been proposed to eliminate the influence of time constants from resistor elements. 2) A self-calibration method is proposed to determine the phase angle errors of the RVD by measuring the phase angle difference between two RVDs with identical structure but different resistor values. 3) The phase angle errors of each RVD can then be calculated based on the measured phase angle difference and known resistor values using equations described. Measurement results of calibrating two RVDs with ratio of 100:1 from 10 kHz to 100 kHz are presented.

Abstract — A new design of resistive volttage divider with

serial-parallel connection has been built. A self-calibration
method has also been proposed to determinee the phase angle
errors of the resistive voltage divider. The measurement has been
done at frequencies from 10 kHz to 100 kHzz to calibrate two
RVDs with ratio of 100:1 and results are presentted.
