DLLScience Model New

The document outlines a lesson plan for teaching students about changes in weather over time. The lesson includes 4 learning episodes where students will observe weather data, describe changes, and be evaluated on their understanding. Students will learn about key weather elements like temperature and sunlight. They will use charts showing weather conditions over multiple days to describe the changes observed and make inferences about the shifting weather patterns. The goal is for students to understand and communicate how weather changes over a period of time.

Learning Area Science 3

A. Content Standards The learners will be able to demonstrate understanding of the types and effects
of weather as they relate to daily activities, health and safety
B. Performance Standards The learners should be able to express ideas about safety measures during
different weather conditions creatively (through artwork, poem, song).
C. Learning Competencies / Describe the changes in the weather over a period of time
Objectives Write the LC code for
each
II. CONTENT Changes in the weather over a period of time.
III. LEARNING RESOURCES

IV. PROCEDURES
Learning Episode 1: Diagnostic Assessment
Describe the weather changes based on the chart below:

A. MOTIVATION
1. Presentation Today, we will learn how to describe the changes in the weather over a period of
time (3 days, 12 hours or 1 week).
2. Importance Elicit
Why is it important to study weather changes?
(It is important to know this so that we can plan for the activities that we are going
to do for the next few days. If the weather is good, we could do our outdoor
activities like playing, swimming, planting or strolling. If the weather is bad, we
could prepare for the possible effects brought by the weather condition.)

3. Formative Assessment At the end of the activity, you will describe the changes in the weather over a
period of time as shown in the chart using the scoring guide below.

1. Pre-requisite Skills observation, they will infer the weather for the day using the chart below.
Explore

The teacher will show a video clip about changes in the weather.
He/She will ask the learners to tell the words that describes the weather condition
as shown in the video.

Explain
The teacher will explain the following:
1.weather
2. types of weather

Explain the elements of the weather:

Learning Episode 2:
A. Modelling Use the weather chart below to describe the changes in the weather from
Saturday to Monday.
Show a model / Example:
Let the students observe and write their observations in a sentence.
1. On Saturday, the weather is rainy and the temperature is 15
0
C or 59 0F.
2. On Sunday, the weather is sunny and the temperature is 25 0C or
77 0F.
3. On Monday the weather is stormy and the temperature is 100C or
32 0F.

Inference out of the observation:

The weather from Saturday to Sunday changes from rainy to
sunny. The temperature increases then decreases from Sunday to
Monday.

Now, let us describe the changes of the weather based on our inference from
the chart.

How to describe the changes of weather over a period of time?

Steps in describing:

In describing, copy your inference out of your observation.

Learning Episode 3:
A. Guided Practice 1. Use the chart below to describe the changes in the weather.
2. Follow the steps in describing the weather.

B. Independent Practice 1. Use the chart below to describe the changes in the weather.
2. Follow the steps in describing the weather.
Elaborate
The teacher will discuss other elements of the in addition to temperature
and amount of sunlight:

Learning Episode 4:
A. Evaluation Evaluate
1. Use the chart below to describe the changes in the weather.
2. Follow the steps in describing the weather.

B. Assignment/Project Extend
Draw a chart showing the weather condition on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You
will present the weather changes observed on Monday next week.
