DIY Work Table
This DIY Work Table is very easy to make and cheap since it only takes 8 2x4’s and 1 sheet of MDF.
The work surface is 48” x 40” but could be adjusted to any size. This is a perfect design for an
assembly table, workbench, or just an extra workstation.
Have fun building something awesome!

Build Instructions: (Read all steps before starting)
Step 1: Cut the parts for both the upper and lower
frame at the same time to get four front/backs (A), four A
B
sides (B), and four inner supports (C). Attach the boards
together to make two frames as shown, using 3” #10 C
screws through the front and back. Use a right angle C
clamp or 90 degree block to keep everything square.
B
Note: Build the frames on as flat a surface as you can A
find and lay the straightest edges of each board against
that surface. This will give you the best shot at a flat
table when you’re done.
D
Step 2: Cut four legs (D) to size. Flip the top frame
D upside down and secure the legs to the outside. Sink
D
one screw into the end grain of the front/back and two
A screws into the side at each connection point.
D
Note: Check for squareness of the mounted legs by
A measuring the outer distance between the legs on each
Top Frame side (40” here). The distance between the legs should
be the same all the way up and down the legs.
Top Frame
(Approximate screw locations)
Step 3: Flip the assembly over and pull the lower frame
into place between the legs. Secure the same way as in
step 2.

Step 4: Flip the table on its top and attach casters onto
the bottom with screws into the leg, front/back and
side.

Step 5: Cut a lower shelf (E) and top (F) to size. Attach
them to the top and bottom using 1-1/4” screws
centered on the 2x4’s they are being secured to.
E
Step 6: Seal the top and lower shelf with your choice of
sealer (I used polyurethane) to protect them.
