Social work in pakistan
Social work is an academic discipline and profession that concern itself with individuals,
families,groups and communities in an effort to enhance social functioning and overall
well-being.
İn pakistan, the concept of professional social work was started in 1951 as a diploma course was
started.Government of pakistan invited United Nations experts to train the people in this specific
concept in order to have our own technical personal to work with and for people to promote
social welfare generally.
Social work in pakistan is in early stage of positivism.We have been producing wonderful
professionals for the welfare sector but their contribution for the indigenization of social work in
pakistan is minimal.The students of social work are more into volunteerism than professional
development.The inconsistent policies regarding social welfare also play their role in
condemning us from achieving positive stage. Their are many social worker in pakistan who
served their duties.Most famous social worker are Abdul satar edhi: who served his whole life
for worked to humanity,and Ansar burni : he has been known out to be the prominent lawyer and
one of the known social worker.
İslamic Perspective:
İn İslam helping others is our first priority and pakistan is an islamic republic.İf we pay zakat
according to the principles of islam, it would not be necessary to call the un expert.For
discussing the concept of social work in Islam, it necessary to understand the two terms: social
work and Islam so as to reach a refined and absolute perspective. Islam is a religion of
humanity.İslam considered serving others as a great act of worship.According to the teaching of
Islam, it is only in serving people that we shall have a share in Allah's Mercy.
And an individual should lead his life as well we should to all, to help everyone, accepting others
rights over his own possessions.All the teaching of Islam are based on two principles;worship of
Allah and serving humanity.
Social work :
Social work is a profession through which a professional worker tries to understand the socio
economic problems and try to solve these problems under the light of his knowledge and
skills.Social work is a professional practice which critically involves professional knowledge
skills,tools, techniques for dealing with human beings and their behaviors.
İt is concerned with individuals and social problems which are solved by applying
different methods and techniques.

or regulatory body responsible for measures to achieve objectives of the convension.

agencies are generally not freestanding institutions,but part of larger sociopolitical units ,is one

well known social welfare organisation in the world
.İmmunization and disease prevention are among UNICEFs initiatives ,as are HIV treatment for
children and women, improving childhood and maternal nutrition, increasing sanitation,
promoting education, and providing emergency relief in disasters.UNİCEF establish on 11th
December 1946. UNİCEF headquarter is in New York, US.

The world health organization (who) established on 7 April 1948. İt's headquarter is in
Switzerland.The world health organization is a united nation specialized organization in charge
of international public health.İts worked all around the world .

ORGANİZATİON (UNESCO):
The united nation education scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO) is
United nation(UN) specialization agency charged with the duty with promoting
world peace and security through international co-operation in educations science
and culture.UNESCO is headquartered in Paris, France,and has 53 regional fields
offices and 199 National commissions to help it carry out it's global . UNESCO
established on 16 November 1945.

United nation (UN) is the most popular organization which is responsible for the prevention of
War and conflict in the world. This organization is promote international peace and
security,promote cordial relations between nations , promote international cooperation and serve
a central focus for coordinating National efforts.The UN is headquartered in Newyork city,on
international territory,with main offices in Geneva ,Vienna and The hague. United nations
established on 24th October 1945.
