Impacts of COVID-19
The outbreak of corona virus 2019 (COVID-19) has created global health crisis in which
many people perceived as the most threatening virus that has ever happened in our world. This
disease has already cost us billions of lives of many people and is considered as the biggest
challenge that we have faced ever since World War II. This COVID-19 pandemic has led to a
tragic loss to human life globally that severely affects our health and our ways of living for its
unequaled challenges in different aspects of life. Knowing how this pandemic shreds our country
economically is indeed devasting. It extremely bothered human for it has a high level of
possibility of risk to us from falling to supreme poverty especially now wherein millions of
enterprises face an existential threat. Nearly half of the world’s 3.3 billion global workforce are
at risk of losing their livelihoods. Informal economy workers are particularly vulnerable because
the majority lack social protection and access to quality health care and have lost access to
productive assets. Without the means to earn an income during lockdowns, many are unable to
feed themselves and their families. For most, no income means no food, or, at best, less food and
less nutritious food.[1]
COVID-19 does not only affect our health, it also unleashed the economic crisis that
results from huge economic losses, disruptions in transportations, manufacturing industries and
permanent loss of jobs to several people. Unfortunately, the global economy is one of the factors
that is affected by the pandemic is suffering from its effects. Considering the fact that we are all
not prepared for this to happen for no one see it coming is indeed distressing. The affects people
negatively in which many people had to close their business because of the pandemic for people
are advised to stay in their homes to guarantee their safety. Many people lost their jobs because
of it and some of them are being fired from their jobs to lessen their workers in order to achieve
proper social distancing. The safety of all individuals is being prioritized that is why we need to
sacrifice the life we currently have, our jobs and everything in order for us to be protected from
the virus. With more than 400 economic zones under lock-down, approximately 700 factories
have been shut down displacing hundreds of workers. The Philippines government is a stimulus
package of approximately 200 billion pesos to protect the citizens and businesses from the
impact of the coronavirus outbreak. [2] However, COVID-19 also benefit us and our country as
well in some ways. It can increase the level of innovation among the people, these may also
result to some technological advancement that will be a huge help in our economy in the future.
Medical systems in any country will be improved to sustainable levels to face a pandemic
situation. Returning migrants with less or poor financial resources may seek jobs in the apparel
sector or plantation sector. Therefore, there will be a high supply in the labor market
in the country. This situation may impact the new formation of production and supply chain
networks. [3] Some economies view this pandemic in a positive way wherein there is an increased
in the profits and demands of some companies today than before the pandemic outbreak. Retail
executives also report a much more optimistic view on demand since the April 2020 survey, as
do those in capital projects and infrastructure. When asked about the economy’s future,
respondents are cautiously but increasingly optimistic. Fifty-one percent say the world economy
will be better six months from now, a share that has grown throughout 2020.[4]
The number of cases of COVID-19 in Castillejos Zambales has a total number of 5 cases
of COVID-19 patients with a sum of 2 recovery patients and 1 death starting from the month of
April which has 3 cases having 0 number of recovery patients and 1 death. the number of cases
and death of infected patients and have been constant as we enter the month of May, having 2
patients who survived the disease. The said results had remain constant in our community until
the month of July that gave rise to new number of covid-19 patients with an increase of 2 new
people who got infected but still, the number of recovery patients and death remains the same
throughout the month. Most of the people who got infected are people who aged from 30-39
years old. In terms or sex, male has a higher rate of being infected with the virus. [5] This also
shows that the 2nd patient was discovered last April 7, 2020 while the 3 rd patient was tracked
down on the 19th of April. On the 11th of July the 4th patient was detected and the 5th patient was
reported on the 26th of July and on the 30th it was confirmed that the patient was positive from
COVID-19. The patient is a 66-year old man who has been admitted to a private hospital within
the Subic bay Freeport zone due to fatigue and loss of appetite on July 27- a week after traveling
to San Fernando, Pampanga and Guiguinto, Bulacan.[6]
COVID-19 has been the worst case that happened in our country for it affects several
people especially economies that results on permanent loss of jobs to some people, transportation
interference, and closing of some business operations that is not much needed in which made
them lose their incomes. However, there are some benefit that we can gain from it in some ways.
In the midst of pandemic, some companies or businesses made an increase not just in some of the
innovations especially in the field of medicine, that will help us recover from this pandemic but
also in their demands and profits that is shockingly surprising. Based on the said results, our
community does not contain many cases of Covid-19 showing that it is still safe for all us but we
should still follow the rules that is given by the officials for us to keep our community protected
from the spreading disease. The result shows that our community is not much affected from the
infected virus. But still, we should not forget to take safety measures to ensure our safety
whenever we go out from our house and always remember to wear your mask and bring you
alcohol with you whenever you go out. We should still take safety measure in order for us to
maintain the safeness in our community.
