Our Story

Our
Founder
My name is Matias Lancewicki, and I am an
Observant Jew looking to spread knowledge of
G-d and acts of kindness in the business world
and beyond.
At a young age, my family emigrated from Argenti-
na to the U.S. in the hope of increasing our economic
opportunities. After completing high school, I was ac-
cepted into the most competitive and selective busi-
ness school in the world, known as the Dyson School
at Cornell University.
As grateful as I was for this opportunity, I felt that there
was something I needed to do before I could join
Cornell. I had an urge to spend some time connect-
ing to my Jewish roots before beginning my business
studies. That is when I decided to take a gap year to
study Jewish Philosophy in Jerusalem, Israel. My time
there inspired me to follow the path of Chabad and
the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe: a worldwide
mentor, teacher, and leader that has changed the
lives of countless individuals around the globe.
My time in Israel gave me a new sense of mean-
ing and purpose, and I now felt ready to infuse that
meaning into my business passion. Thank G-d, that
dream quickly became a reality. Soon after beginning
my business studies at Cornell, I launched EZRI.

Birth of
EZRI
In business, style matters, convenience matters,
and comfort matters.
Over the past decade, accessories for business
professionals have become highly outdated both
in style and functionality, and the issue is most
apparent in backpacks. Realizing that there was no
functional, yet stylish way to carry around our daily
business items, we decided to design one ourselves.
That is when we launched EZRI.
We created premium backpack models that fit the
traditional business attire while introducing a young,
modern look. In doing so, we integrated all the practical
needs of the typical business professional into our
backpacks, making them as functional as they can be.

Our
Community
After designing our first backpack models,
we launched our e-commerce site, and
the results were shocking.
We started to witness a beautiful community of
business professionals building around our brand,
and it was inspiring. Sooner than expected, EZRI
began to grow into a thriving community of young,
motivated business professionals looking to make a
difference in the world.
Right after our launch, EZRI became one of the first
three companies to receive the Cane Entrepreneur-
ship Scholar Award, providing thousands in grant
funding to support our growth. As we continued to
scale, EZRI was awarded several more gener-
ous grants and awards. Thank G-d, the communi-
ty around EZRI only continues to expand beyond
anything we could have ever expected, and it has
given us an even greater motivation to give back to
those around us.

The Nickel Project is an EZRI initiative to promote the habit of giving a

their home or office, with a small cup full of nickels alongside. Everyday,
they grab a nickel from the cup and add it to the charity box. We know
a nickel is not much, but the kind act of giving everyday can grow one’s
sense of happiness, purpose, and meaning in life.

Why
“EZRI”?
In the course of establishing
and growing EZRI, we are
often asked: “What does the
name of the company mean?”
EZRI is the Hebrew word for “My Help”. It comes from Psalms 121
written by King David, where he refers to G-d as being his help through
all efforts, struggles, and successes in life. The reason we chose that
name is because of a fundamental company value which we feel
is the secret of success in business: the recognition that all of one’s
success comes from G-d, and not from our own efforts.
That is why we named our brand EZRI: To remind ourselves, as well
as those around us, that our success is all from G-d, and the more we
recognize that G-d is Our Help, the more we increase our vessel for
blessings of success to pour down to all parts of our lives.
