SECOND PREFACE
First of all, I need you to understand something, the human
being is a complex animal, you may disagree but the human
being is an animal but higher and more more complex. Let me
explain...
The major things that makes a man different from other lower
animals is their ability to express sympathy and to handle or
process complex information.
We can say , what makes a man a higher, more advanced in
nature and composition is Emotions and Creative thinking
ability. Lower animals are instinctive in response but humans
are emotional in response.
These are components of Man's mind, if this component is
tempered with he can loose his advantage and be subjective,
the mind is the greatest asset of a man.
The mind and perception are both influencers of the one's
mindset, whether you have a positive or negative mindset
otherwise known as growth or fixed mindset they all are
influenced by your mind and perception.
That is why people who may have had an experience of being
scammed online, are afraid of investing in online biz is
tempered with.
Perception is how you interpret the world around you and the
systems, while your mind is the sit if your Emotions,
consciousness, this is the advantage of the marketer, your
ability to get into the mind of your prospects with what you're
offering, it what will drive you more sales. Always remember,
the human mind is influencible.
CHAPTER ONE
CONCEPT OF MARKETING
The minds of many have been programmed to think and
believe that marketing is a different concept totally or that it is
a different sphere, perhaps our school system contributed to
fostering the rapid spread of this idealogy and misconception,
by separating students into different classes, sciences,
commercial, art and teaching them to believe that there are
different arms and can not corelate or share ideas. This is a
cognitive bias that has affected many people.
Many have believed marketing must involve business or
money, this is not so , the concept of marketing involves
deliberate disciplines and acts of creating awareness for an
idea, a knowledge, a product, service or offer.
I also was in this shoe , I felt if it didn't end with money then I
didn't do well, I believed a minute of my time and knowledge
should be paid for especially if I'm attending to you, most
especially if I'm solving your problem or during a consultation
or any of my sessions.
True! Money is a major factor in marketing but is not the only
thing that makes up marketing, this is what you must
understand.Whatever gears at getting the attention of a
prospect and redirect it to a new idea, product, service or offer
for the aim agreeing with, purchasing, applying, buying — can
be regarded as marketing.
Understand that everyone is and can be a marketer,
marketing is a skill — skills are universal, as such anyone
can learn any skill even the skill of marketing.
Even God is a marketer, your pastor,Imam, Leader, Coach is
a marketer he is selling the idea and knowledge of a belief
to you. The world generally works with marketing principles
, that is why you can buy into an idea or choose not to.
On my way out one of the day I met a man who carried
some health equipment I kept staring at him ,he carried a
bagpack I came to discover contained medicine for sale, he
stopped me, I was wondering if twas because I was staring
at him.
He engaged me in conversation, he was telling benefits of
some of the drugs he was selling, fact is I almost forgot
where I was going and to think I was tempted to buy the
drugs. Do you know that was marketing, he was trying to
sell the value of what he was selling to me
In a nutshell, marketing is about creating and
communicating the value of a product or service to
potential customers. When selling focus on the benefits of
what you're selling out.
A big brand like Glo is telling you they are grand masters of
data meaning they have amazing data packages that will
last long, they are showing you benefits of using their
network and giving you a reason to become their users
Here's a key word in marketing you should understand —
This is a very important factor and element in marketing ,
the system of marketing should not be where you prioritize
money or consider it first, communication, should be
prioritized, communicating the value and benefit of what
you're marketing.
The reason you prefer a particular store over another is
how they communicate their value, expertise, and
professionalism as well as their brand message, this creates
in you a sense of interest.
You see why I got lost in the conversation with the man I
met, it was because he laid emphasis on the benefits of
what he was selling, even though it may not be so true or
exaggerated he communicated the benefits well to get me
to almost buy
One thing you shouldn't forget is that marketing involves
identifying the needs and wants of your target audience,
understanding their decision-making process, and
developing a strategy to reach them and convince them to
buy.
A similar scenerio is applicable when choosing who to listen
to, because of how well they communicate their knowledge.
Beyond the sales aspect of marketing, marketing is
communication. Communicate benefits better to sell more
CHAPTER TWO
THE PILLARS OF MARKETING
There are four pillars of marketing, usually regarded as the
4p's of marketing, they are major factors that must not be
neglected if you want to market well, but to better
understand this pillars, let us first consider four
supplemental of the pillars of marketing.
1. SPECIALIZATION
Specialization is about identifying a specific area of focus
within your target market. For example, a clothing brand
might specialize in eco-friendly or sustainable clothing.
Personally as an entrepreneur, I focus on helping brands
and business with techniques, hacks, tips and strategies to
boost their visibility for more sales and opportunities as
well as creating opportunities for people to creatively
revolutionalise to attain growth.
This is what makes me different from other Entrepreneurs
, this is my specialization. This is what I'm marketing, yours
may be a different service or product, either of the two
have a specialization, one way to discover your
specialization is to answer questions like what do I want to
be known for? What are my interests? What am I
passionate about?
2. DIFFERENTIATION
Differentiation is about figuring out what makes your
product or service unique and different from the
competition. It could be a specific feature, benefit, or
something about your brand identity. There are times
where people come to me and are like, I love how you
carry yourself so well , how you're able to do so much yet
balance up and still keep it together and professional
some say I love how your courses and sessions are easy to
understand, engaging and fun and still retain so much value
, they are many people doing what I do but this is what
differentiates us.
3. SEGMENTATION
Segmentation is about dividing your target market into
smaller groups based on shared characteristics , this is
where you have to know your customers/audience.
On a personal note I divide them into people who buy more
from me, people who haven't patronized at all or once in a
while customers, it helps me know who to follow up and
who to give more attention to, you can try out a different
style.
4. TARGETING
As for targeting, it's about selecting the specific segments
of your market that you want to reach with your marketing.
This is where the segmentation information comes in
handy.
You can use it to choose which segments to focus on and
develop a marketing strategy that speaks to their specific
needs. For instance, targeting only unemployed, student or
less privileged , when considering my brand goals or offers I
target young people . I create my offers to revolves around
their needs.
We move unto the 4P's of Marketing, Which are the pillars
of marketing.
1.PRODUCT: What you are bringing as commodity for
exchange. The product pillar is all about making sure your
product or service meets the needs of your target market.
It's about understanding what they want and need, and
then making sure your offering is the best solution for
them. The name product does not necessary mean it
must be something physical, it could be a digital product
or service
2.PRICE: This also necessarily must not be money, for
example a student paying the price of giving attention for
free class. This is about setting the right price for your
product or service based on the value it provides and the
competition in the market.
3.PLACE : This is about making sure your product or
service is available where and when your target market
needs it.
4.PROMOTION: This is about using marketing
communications to reach your target market and
convince them to buy your product or service. This can
include things like advertising, public relations, and social
media e.g Facebook, Instagram etc.
A good example is email marketing, social media
marketing is also a basic knowledge you should have if
you're intending to advertise your product or business
online.
I highly recommend using digital platforms to advertise
your business, because the digital space has billions of
people who are willing to buy from you
CHAPTER THREE
THE PROCESS OF MARKETING
The process of marketing is in 4stages namely, planning,
implementation, evaluation, and control.
First, let's talk about the planning stage. In this stage, you
need to figure out who your target market is and what you
want to achieve with your marketing. You need to set goals
and objectives and develop a marketing strategy.
The next stage is implementation. This is where you put
your marketing strategy into action. In the implementation
stage, you create your marketing mix and start to
communicate with your target market. You may be
wondering what is a marketing mix.
A marketing mix is a combination of the different marketing
elements you use to reach your target market. It's
sometimes also called the marketing program or the
marketing plan.
The elements of the marketing mix are the 4 C's: consumer,
cost, convenience, and communication. You need to
combine these elements in the right way to create a
successful marketing mix.
It's like a recipe that you need to get just right. Each
element is important and they all need to work together.
The 4 C's are a part of the implementation stage of the
marketing process. They're what you use to communicate
with your target market and meet their needs. They're the
"how" of the implementation stage. You might be wondering
how this is different from the 4 P's.
The 4 P's are more about the products or services you're
selling and the strategies you use to sell them. The 4 C's are
more about understanding the consumer and how to reach
them. It's a bit like the difference between the product and the
customer is the 4 P's.
The first C - Consumer: The consumer is the center of
everything. Everything else revolves around them. Remember
the consumer and customers satisfaction first.
The second C - Cost: This is not just the price of your product
or service, but also the total cost to the consumer, including
things like time and effort. How much of their time or effort is
needed to use your product to their satisfaction, consumers
prefer less efforts and shorter time.
The third C - Convenience: This is about making it easy for
the consumer to buy your product or service.
The last C - Communication: This is about the channels you
use to communicate with your target market, like advertising,
social media, and public relations.
The next stage of the processes of marketing is Evaluation .
In the evaluation stage, you assess how well your marketing
is working and make changes if necessary. In this stage, you
assess how well your marketing is working.
You look at things like sales figures, customer feedback,if
it is bad you amend,if it is good you continue,I also advise
you share those good testimonies it helps you build more
trust also try market research to see if your marketing is
reaching your target market and achieving your goals and
your customers are satisfied with what you're feeding
them
This information can help you make changes to your
marketing mix or your strategy.
CHAPTER FOUR
THE PSYCHOLOGY OF MARKETING
The psychology of marketing is all about understanding
how consumers think and how they make decisions.
It's about understanding the mental processes that go
into buying a product or service, like them considering
the cost ,the usage time, efforts needed, future costs
,how it is solving their problems. It's not by manipulating
their minds through hypnosis as one may think.
This is where the 4 C's come in. Understanding the
psychology of marketing can help you create a more
effective marketing mix. You need to understand how
consumers make decisions, what motivates them, and
what their needs and wants are.
Only then can you create a marketing mix that appeals to
them. It's all about creating an emotional connection with
your target market.
Remember marketing is communication and relationship.
The question is how can one work with this idea ?
I'll answer just about now — There are a few things you can do
to work with the idea of marketing psychology. First, you need
to understand your target market. You need to know who they
are, what they want, and what they need. Are they
unemployed, students, undergraduates, are they people who
are in need of my product/service?
You can do this through market research and by talking to your
customers. Or consistently creating different strategies to see
which one works best . Secondly, you need to create a
marketing mix that appeals to your target market on an
emotional level. I once took out time to send a broadcast
message to my contacts,it was a great way to reach out
existing customers who requested for my services, you can
effectively do this with the knowledge of Copywriting.
Use the 4 C's to create a mix that resonates with them. Finally,
you need to measure your results and make changes based on
what you learn.
When creating a mix I focus on my creating one that is suitable
and satisfies, new and existing customers, I consider how I can
make even the ones paying less attention to my market to buy,
Iwe the idea of marketing psychology, I leverage on thier pain
point to pitch my product/service as the solution .
Don't expect roses , the beauty of marketing is trying out
different strategies to see which one reasonates and appeals to
your audience or target market.
To be able to sell effectively you must tap into the mind —
emotions, consciousness and change the perception about the
disadvantages of what you're offering by pitching as the
solution, don't tell them to buy directly because they may not
buy, indirectly change their misconceptions in your favor. This
is the subtle art of sales.
