Methodology
Demonstration Method- Demonstrate singular nouns through flashcards
Warm up:
Teacher to start discussion by asking questions about nouns.
Talk about it
Teacher to explain what nouns are. Students will pick and list down the nouns. Tell them to
write these in their notebooks and write the plurals of these nouns. Tell them to speak complete
sentences and notice the language of each sentence we use there is for a singular noun and
there are for plural nouns.
N.B--Students to write five words and make its plural. (year, river, room, box, snake, bottle,
shelf, potato, woman, tooth)

Warm up:
Write the big Qs “What can you find in a book?” on white board students will Brainstorm and
share their ideas.
Talk about it
Teacher to introduce the topic. Ask relevant questions to check students’ knowledge.
Teacher will start the lesson by reading it first along with correct pronunciation. Point
to the big picture and focus which title each child is reading. Let the students predict
what the books may be about for example; The snow Day is about a rabbit and a duck.
Provide students with additional vocabulary. Students will ask each other in pairs; which
book would they like to read? They will reply using I want to read……. Students will
work independently and practice forming singular and plural nouns using the same
vocabulary as well as few extra words and write them in their notebook. Students will
discuss what they do at school. Provide relevant vocabulary through board work.
Afterwards students will write 5 – 7 sentences describing their routine at school.

Warm up:
Show a picture of shoemaker and ask relevant questions. What does he do? What is the
difference between cobbler and a shoemaker?
Talk about it
Students to discuss what they can observe in the cover picture, let each student share his
observation. Students will suggest if they can think of some other title for the reader.
Encourage every suggestion. After looking at the picture of ‘elves’ students will discuss if
they know about these imaginary characters or have read any story/watched a movie about
the elves. Students to observe the title cover to discuss the illustration on the cover page, and
describe the cover picture in their own words. Write the title of the reader on whiteboard and
ask questions about the title and cover picture. Encourage students to make some predictions
about the story.

Recap of the title page and characters of the story
Talk about it
Let students look and read the text. Model reading and explanation of pgs 4-5 by the teacher.
During reading, tell students about the pause at the comma. Students will take turns to read the
text and relate it to the picture. Let students take turns to read the text and describe the
pictures given on pg4-5. End exercise activities to be done after reading (Activity # 1)
