Attachment 1 Aibel AS GHG Emissions 2017-2022

Aibel AS reports its greenhouse gas emissions from 2017 to 2022 in accordance with the GHG Protocol. Scope 1 and 2 emissions are fully reported for all locations, while Scope 3 emissions are still being improved and expanded. Purchased goods and services has the most significant emissions, and data from key suppliers is now included. Emissions fluctuated over time depending on yard activities and projects, with higher emissions in 2022 associated with increased activity in Thailand. The target intensity rate remained below 700 tCO2e per million man-hours except in 2022. Aibel will continue working to improve Scope 3 reporting and gather additional supplier data.

GHG Emissions 2017 - 2022

Aibel AS
GHG Emission Report – General Comments
• Aibel reports Greenhouse Gas emissions (GHG) in accordance with the GHG Protocol and uses the CEMAsys GHG reporting
database to help report and systematise CO2 data
• Complete data is reported for our Scope 1 and 2 emissions for all locations from 2017 to 2022
• Scope 2 electricity is reported Location-based
• The level of yard activities have most impact for all Scopes. High activity and large construction projects increase emissions
• Based on overall material mappings performed in 2020 and consultation with other GHG professionals, Scope 3 – Cat. 1; Purchased
goods and services, is the most significant contributor to Aibel’s total footprint (see figures below). Typical Aibel high volume
purchases in this category are metals such as steel and other large bulk groups like e.g piping, profiles and flanges.

GHG Emission Report – Comments to Scope 3 Categories
• Scope 3 – Cat. 1; Purchased goods and services. Has been improved during 2022 but is not yet complete. Cooperation meetings
with the most significant suppliers have been held. Emission and volume data from the main suppliers of metal and steel is included
in the 2021 and 2022 figures. Some data back to 2017 is also included. Data from the main supplier of paint is included in figures
from 2017 to 2022. The Hybrid Method is used for calculations (supplier specific emission factors for raw material and generic data
method wherever supplier specific is not available - ref. GHG Protocol). We will work further in 2023 to gather more data from our
suppliers
• Scope 3 – Cat. 2; Capital Goods. Investments has not been reported. We will work further in 2023 on how this shall be reported
• Scope 3 – Cat. 3; Fuel and Energy Related Activities. No data reported. We will work further in 2023 on how this shall be reported
• Scope 3 – Cat. 4; Upstream Transportation and Distribution. Emission data from the main logistic supplier is included for 2020 to
2022. One of our main suppliers for offshore transportation and lifting reports they are Climate Neutral Certified and reports zero
emissions. This due to high focus on reducing emissions and compensation of their carbon footprint of via multiple climate projects.
We will work further in 2023 to provide data from other logistic and transport suppliers
• Scope 3 – Cat. 5; Waste figures is complete for all locations from 2017 to 2022
• Scope 3 – Cat. 6; Business travel. Domestic and intercontinental air travel is assumed to be the most significant contributor to the
emissions. Figures from 2017 to 2022 is reported. We will work further in 2023 to investigate if more data regarding e.g. train, boat
and car driving can be provided.
• Scope 3 – Cat. 7; Employee Commuting. Figures not available. We will work further in 2023 on how this shall be reported
• Scope 3 – Cat. 8; Upstream Leased Assets. Considered as minor impact. Data not reported
• Scope 3 – Cat. 9 – 15; Downstream categories. Data not reported. We will work further in 2023 to investigate
and evaluate if/how this categories shall be reported
GHG Emissions incl. Intensity Rate
• The level of yard activities have most impact on Scope 1 and 2
• Increase of Scope 2 emissions in 2020 – 2022 mostly due to
high activity on the Thailand Yard. Electricity in Thailand has
high footprint due to low production and portion of renewable
energy
• Scope 1 reduced mainly due the Haugesund Yard taking into
use a new electric power system for testing and commissioning
activities. Replace use of diesel generators
• Business Air Travel decreased in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid
19 and more use of Teams meetings. Some increase in 2022 but
still high focus on use of Teams and reduce travel activities
• Target for Intensity Rate is < 700. Well below target since 2020.
Some increase in 2022
