1) What is One Skill Retake (OSR)?
IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) allows you to retake any one of the four skills
(Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking) if you need to improve in just one area.
2) How is IELTS one skill retake helpful for me?
We know most test takers get the scores they need first time, but if you feel you
haven’t performed to your best in one area, IELTS OSR can help you get back on
track.
3) Is the IELTS one skill retake available for all types of IELTS exams?
OSR is only available for IELTS on Computer for Standard IELTS.
4) Can I apply for OSR on multiple skills at a time?
Only one OSR is allowed per test i.e., one retake of one skill area only.
5) Can I take OSR at British Council if my original IETLS test was with IDP/AEO?
A test taker cannot register for an OSR with British Council if their original IELTS
test was delivered through IDP or AEO, and vice versa.
6) Are there any other considerations before I register for OSR?
Test takers cannot register for an OSR where they may have been absent or
partially absent and original results have not been issued – this includes any test
that has been refunded. Test takers cannot register for an OSR on an original test
that has had a result withheld for malpractice.

7) Is ID change allowed for OSR?
On test day, the test taker must bring the same ID document used to verify their
identity for the original full IELTS test. This ID document must be valid at the point
of registering for the OSR. If the ID document expires between registering for the
OSR and test day, then the test taker must bring with them on test day the expired
ID document or a high-quality copy of the same. The OSR TRF will only contain the
ID number with which the candidate sat the original test
Failure to meet any of these requirements will result in test cancellation with no
refund eligibility.
A test taker cannot change their identity details between the original test and the
OSR test. For example, a surname cannot be reported differently between the
original test and OSR.
8) Is there a time limit starting from the original test date, within which I must
register for the IELTS one skill retake?
An OSR must be taken within 60 days of the original test attempt with no extensions
or further exceptions possible.
9) Will my original IELTS test scores remain valid?
Yes, both your original exam result and OSR will be valid.
10) What is the validity of my IELTS one skill retake score?
Your IELTS one skill retake score will become part of your original TRF, and these
scores will be valid for 2 years starting from the original test date.
11) Can I submit Enquiry on Results for the original test?
If the test taker wishes to submit an Enquiry on Results for the original full IELTS
test, they must do so within two weeks of the date of the original full IELTS test date
for Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing, and must do so before registering for
an OSR against the same full IELTS test. EOR can also be applied on OSR
12) Can I retake the same skill multiple times using IELTS One Skill Retake?
No, One Skills Retake option can be availed only once for a specific test.
13) Is there any impact on my previous test scores after attempting the IELTS one
skill retake?
No, your one skill score is simply reflected along with your original scores on the
new TRF. Both the original TRF and OSR TRF remains valid
14) Will I be issued a new TRF after giving my OSR?
Yes, an electronic TRF will be issued for your OSR result. OSR results will not be
issued through hard copy.
15) Is my original TRF available to me after I attempt the one skill retake?

Yes, your previous TRF is available to you, if you prefer to use your original score,
you can!
16) What if my score in the IELTS one skill retake is lower than my original one?
After One Skill Retake, your previous TRF is available to you, if you prefer to use
your original score, you will have to confirm from your receiving organization for
acceptability.
17) Can I attempt one skill retake for “academic” reading or writing if I originally
attempted them in the “General” IELTS?
No, module cannot be changed in One Skill Retake
18) Can I apply for EOR for OSR?
Yes, you can apply for EOR of your OSR after depositing the EOR fee.
19) Will my new score be indicated or highlighted as a “One skill retake” score on
my updated TRF?
Yes, the OSR TRF will indicate that it is One Skill Retake and will mention the TRF
number of the original test
20) Can I give my OSR at any location?
You can only register for OSR within the same region as your original test (North,
Centre & South). e.g., You can register for OSR at Peshawar if your original test
was conducted in Islamabad but cannot be registered at Karachi
21) Does my updated TRF have the same level of acceptability as my original
result?
Candidates will have to confirm from receiving organization for acceptability. List of
ROs that accept OSR is on TakeIELTS website and the list is list keep on updating
on a regular basis
