AI - 01 Practice Exercise 1 Answer

The document discusses three different systems: 1. A satellite image analysis system that aims to provide reliable, scalable and fast data retrieval through the use of optical and lidar sensors as well as GPS sensors. 2. An online education system (eLMS) that tracks course completion rates, assessment scores, and engagement through assessment tracking, engagement and interaction sensors. 3. A part-picking robot used in a car production line to accurately place parts through sensors that measure factors like force, temperature and proximity.

Answer the following questions:

a. In your perspective, what are the possible impacts of inappropriate performance measures in
developing or conceptualizing agents?

Inappropriate performance measures can harm agents. They may not meet their intended goals. This
leads to mistakes and inefficiency. Resources and time will get wasted as a result of these. Fixing and
improving their performance becomes harder. Overall, it hampers successful agent development and
deployment.

b. What is the importance of appropriate sensors and actuators in developing artificial intelligence?
Elaborate on your answer.

Having appropriate sensors and actuators in developing AI is important. Many AIs are only limited to
data pre-inputted to their storage for them to process, resulting to limited information to process.
Having sensors and actuators in your AI allows them to connect to the real world and have access to
more data for them to be able to provide more accurate and deeper answers. These also enables
them to be used for other fields.

c. If you were to apply the concept of artificial intelligence, where would it be and why?

I will be using AI in the field of education. Education, in my eyes, has always been a tedious process of
going to school, listening to teachers’ lessons with other students, and going home. These forces
students to learn at the same pace of other students under one teacher per subject, which is a big
problem because every students have their own pace of learning. Introducing AI to this field will give
students their own tailored version of lessons based on their learning pace and current abilities
relevant to their subjects. Having AI in the field of Education will make the learning process in school
more efficient and more effective.
