LANGUAGE COURSES AND

EXAMINATIONS
JANUARY-DECEMBER 2023
GOETHE
Goethe-Institut Nigeria
Learning German at Goethe-Institut Nigeria was a fortunate experience for me, enriching
practical and rewarding. It was all about knowledge acquisition and self-discovery. The
environment and facilities encouraged learning and meaningful interactions with other
learners. I am mostly grateful for my experience at Goethe-institut Lagos because of the
confidence I had when I arrived Bonn. I was able to fit into B2 class in Kreuzberg Bonn. All
in all, my experience in Goethe-Institut Lagos was not only foundational but also
irreplaceable.
-Sylvester Emeruwa. SMMM A1-B1
Regensburg, Bayern

I started the online A1 German Course without prior knowledge of the language and I was
very lucky to have a good tutor who took time to teach and explain the German language
to ease my understanding. Merely few weeks after, I can already understand many words
and speak sentences in German with my course mates and whenever my husband calls. I
cannot wait to join him in Germany.
-Mrs. Imafidon Cecilia Nnachor. A1
Nittel, Rheinland-Pfalz

I basically learnt the German language through the Online Course and it was very
efficient. The singular opportunity I got in learning at Goethe-Institut has earned me lots
of merits both intellectually and otherwise. I will gladly say that I am in Germany because
of my contact with Goethe-Institut Nigeria. During the periods I spent with the Goethe-
Institut Nigeria, the teachers helped me to improve my verbal and spatial abilities. I also
got the opportunity to meet people in various spheres of life; both within Nigeria and
beyond. I was entirely exposed to a new way of life and culture; it felt like I was already in
Germany. By frequently visiting the resourceful library at the Goethe-Institut in Lagos, I
developed the ability to read worldwide. I equally was able to gain admissions to various
universities in Germany and her neighboring countries.
-Ihediuba A. Benedict. A1-B2
Frankfurt am Main

I enjoyed my time at the Goethe-Institut in Lagos, Nigeria with my teachers. There was so
much fun and our teachers were really understanding and helpful to our needs. Learning
the German Language has been of immense benefits to me as I have passed my Goethe-
Zertificat A1 Start Deutsch and I am on my way to Germany to join my husband and
children. Thanks so much Goethe-Institut, Lagos, Nigeria.
-Leona Ogu. A1

I, Shalom Alabi am really grateful to the Goethe-Institut for helping me get over my fear of
German Language. The tutors were awesome!!! The management was top notch!!! And my
course mates? The very best! I am grateful for my experience at the Goethe-Institut
Nigeria. I would class it as my immense luck to have also been the “Face of Goethe” as my
course mates would call me. Goethe-Institut Nigeria is a place to find amalgamation of
learning. Work hard to get it and be prepared for anything. Maintain your attendance!
-Shalom Inioluwa Alabi. A1-B2
London

It was a good experience for me to learn German at Goethe-Institut Nigeria. Learning

German has had a positive impact on my career and I am pleased.
-Sekinat Temitope Olokunde. A1

LIBRARY AND INFORMATION
The Library at the Goethe-Institut Nigeria is being
remodelled and has opened its doors to the public
again. In the next months, we will also have a special
focus on children programmes.

Next to offering a wide selection of German novels

(some in English translation), books on German
history, geography and culture, as well as course
material for learning German (all levels, A1 – C2), we
also have a whole section that specifically focuses on
African literature, philosophy and arts & culture. In
addition, we stock an array of DVDs – mostly German
movies, but also Music CDs – and have monthly
updated magazines that give insight into politics and
lifestyles in Germany.

Moreover, the virtual library of the Goethe-Institut

allows our members to borrow digital documents,
such as eBooks, eAudio books and electronic
newspapers, for a predetermined period of time, by
downloading them from the eLibrary (Onleihe).

The Library also organizes events, such as

workshops, conferences, and panel discussions, on a
variety of topics in the fields of literature and current
affairs with the aim to educate, network and
exchange knowledge and experience.

Library membership varies: German language

students at the Goethe-Institut have FREE
membership, whereas non-students (everyone else)
pay a yearly fee of NGN 2,000.

My experience with Goethe-Institut Nigeria was wonderful right from the very first day
to the last day of my class with my tutor. I learnt a lot about the German culture, attended
a lot of cultural shows and of course made a lot of good friends. Learning the German
Language in Goethe-Institut Nigeria was not just about learning but experiencing the
German culture in Nigeria. This is an experience everyone should look forward to!
Fareedat A. Muhammad Qieyaz. A1-B2
Austria

I completed my A1 Blended Learning Course and wrote my A1 Start Deutsch examination

at Goethe-Institut Nigeria. German Language is a very interesting language which I
enjoyed so much while learning at the Goethe-Institut in Lagos. The teaching was always
interactive and interesting. During the course duration, there were team activities, paired
activities, there were also pictures and videos to make the course understandable and
explanatory. Ich liebe die deutsche Sprache.
-Alade Olaide Mabel. A1
Abuja

Learning German language at Goethe-Institut Nigeria was a worthwhile journey for me.
My tutor was amazing and was able to make the learning process easy by breaking down
information into digestible chunks which enabled me master a chapter before moving on.
Eventually, the chunks created the whole. Thanks you Goethe-Institut Nigeria for the
impact.
-Pauline Nwaigwe. A1

It has been a wonderful experience thus far. Our online tutors have an in-depth
understanding of the language and try as much as possible to simplify the learning
process. Also, the learning experience has been so much fun. We usually have
assignments and interactions. In my opinion, this has helped me strengthen my diction
and vocab of the language. I hope to continue my learning experience at the Goethe-
Institut Nigeria until I attain my desired level, B2.
-Olumuyiwa Rotimi. A1-A2
IT Professional, Lagos

I took the German course and was very impressed and satisfied. My tutor kept the class
engaged, they knew the materials that would be helpful and importantly, they knew how
to convey the concepts for beginners of the German Language. I will highly recommend
Goethe-Institut Nigeria to anyone wishing to learn the German language.
-Jatau Bridget Ukamaka. A1

Studying in Goethe-Institut Nigeria has been a very interesting journey so far. I have
learnt a lot and I really want to thank my tutors. The classes were interactive and
interesting. I got the opportunity to meet new friends. It has been an exciting journey

Learning at the Goethe-Institut Nigeria has been a thrilling and interesting journey. The
amazing tutors I had, made the learning easier. Learning a new language used to look
impossible but after a while at Goethe-Institut Nigeria, I can express myself relatively
well in German.
