Construction Industry Development Board Act 1994:
The Construction Industry Development Board Act 1994 in Malaysia was enacted to regulate and
develop the construction industry in the country. One of the main functions of the Construction
Industry Development Board (CIDB) is to ensure that all construction projects in Malaysia are
registered and comply with its regulations.
• Construction sites must be registered with CIDB and comply with its regulations.
• Compliance with the Construction Industry Standard (CIS) guidelines is necessary for construction sites
in Malaysia.
• These guidelines cover aspects related to construction such as design, procurement, construction, and
maintenance.
• Site safety supervisors must ensure that all workers on the construction site are registered with CIDB
and possess the necessary skills and qualifications to carry out their work safely and effectively.
• The CIDB also provides training and certification for site safety supervisors through its Site Supervisor
Safety Training Scheme (SSTS). The SSTS is a certification program that provides training in areas such
as construction safety, risk assessment, and emergency response.
