CKT2 1 1ST 2011

This document appears to be an exam for an electric circuits course. It contains 3 practice problems: 1) The first problem involves calculating instantaneous power, current, and reactive power for loads connected in parallel with a sinusoidal voltage source through a reactive line. 2) The second problem involves calculating the effective voltage value for a signal that is the sum of 4 individual sinusoidal waveforms. 3) The third problem involves calculating line voltages and complex power supplied for a 3-phase Y-connected source supplying a Y-connected load through a reactive line, given the complex power demand and one line voltage.

Problem1 The three loads L1 , L2 and L3 are connected in parallel and supplied from the source
vs (t) = Vm sin(100πt + θ) through a line has a reactance of j1Ω as shown in Fig.(1).

1. Find Vm and θ

2. Calculate the complex power delivered from the source.

3. What the size of element that connected in parallel with the source vs (t) to reach 0.9 lagging power factor

4. If the the load L3 is replaced by a variable resistance Ro to absorb the maximum average power. What is
the value of this resistance.
