Introductory Message
       For the Facilitator:
     Welcome to the Technology and Livelihood Education – CSS 9 Self-Learning
Module on Checking and Saving Information!
       This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and
reviewed by educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its
Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A.
Agustin, in partnership with the City Government of Pasig through mayor, Honorable
Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writers utilized the standards set by the K to 12
Curriculum using the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) in developing
this instructional resource.
       This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.
      In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box in the
body of the module:

       As a facilitator you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this

        This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You
will be enabled to process the contents of the learning material while being an active
learner.
      This module has the following parts and corresponding icons:
                    Expectations - This points to the set of knowledge and skills
                    that you will learn after completing the module.
                    Pretest - This measures your prior knowledge about the lesson
                    at hand.
                    Recap - This part of the module provides a review of concepts
                    and skills that you already know about a previous lesson.
                    Lesson - This section discusses the topic in the module.
                    Activities - This is a set of activities that you need to perform.
                    Wrap-Up - This section summarizes the concepts and
                    application of the lesson.
                    Valuing - This part integrates a desirable moral value in the
                    lesson.

              LESSON
                   CHECKING AND SAVING INFORMATION
       The documents you created electronically are saved for future use. The saved
document now becomes a file. A file is a collection of data stored in one unit,
determined by a filename. It can be a document, picture, audio or video stream or
other collection of data. It is a group of data that a user can recover, modify, delete,
save, print or send to an e-mail program. Below are steps on how to save a document.
Saving a document
The document you created can be save so you can access and edit it later. Word
offers two ways to save a file: Save and Save As. To save the document (for the
first time):
1. Go to the File menu.
2. Locate the SAVE command and choose where to save the file.
3. The Save As dialog box will appear. Select the location where you want to save
the document.
4. Enter the file name in the File Name box, then click Save.
5. The documents will be saved.
Now the document is stored with the name and in the specified location.

NOTE:
Use the Save command every now and then to update and save your document.
Click the Save button on the Quick Access toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut by
pressing Ctrl and S key simultaneously.
The Save button from the Quick access toolbar can also be used to save the
document for the first time, or to save changes to an already saved document, in the
same location and with the same filename.
The Save As command on the File menu can be used to save the current document
in a different location, or with a different name, or in a different document format, or
to assign a password to the document. The Save As command always displays
the Save As dialog box, where you can do one or combination of these.
Most of the time, files are saved in the computer. Not realizing that these files can
be corrupted when hardware failed to function and sometimes files are accidentally
overwritten or deleted. It is very important to consider where to save our files for
ease in accessing them. There are storage devices where files can be save and be
accessible anywhere.
Checking the saved document:
1. Click the Start Menu at the bottom left
corner.
2. Then choose File Explorer.
3. Click the location (e.g. Desktop), then look for the file (e.g. Lesson 2) or folder you
saved.
Storage devices
       A storage device refers to a computer hardware used to store information
permanently or temporarily. They are also known as storage medias or storage
medium. Theses devices can be external or installed inside the computer, server, and
other computing systems.
There are two types of storage devices
    Primary storage device
      A primary storage device is smaller in size and designed to acquire or hold
      data temporarily. Primary storage devices are found mostly inside the
      computer and have the fastest access to data. Examples of Primary devices
      include Cache memory and Random Access Memory (RAM).
    Secondary storage device
      A secondary storage device can store data permanently. They can
      accommodate bigger amount of data. These devices can be both external and
      internal to a computer. Examples for Secondary storage devices are hard
      drives, solid state drives, optical media, USB thumb drives, SD cards and
      cloud storage.
               ACTIVITIES
Activity I. Arrange the steps on how to save a document by writing numbers1-5.
