One of the major themes that has emerged during the pandemic is a significant shortfall of
capable leaders within organisations. More than 86% of the organisations we researched are
looking to overcome this through better succession planning, training their mid-level managers

PROGR AMME

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AND HOW

To become a better leader one has to work on both Self Development and People Management
and these are the two parallel themes that run throughout. We divide these into 10 core skill
sets. With each topic you learn the concept, do a self appraisal, get feedback from your peers
and then discuss and apply these skills to real world scenarios, reflecting and testing each
concept and seeing it play out in real life.

The assignments and activities ensure first-hand experience of the impact of the concepts and
help translate them into tangible skills. The goal is to help you increase your emotional
intelligence, recognise biases, read signs of emerging conflicts, understand people’s

CURRICULUM
The hands-on curriculum covers the entire spectrum of skills and several tools needed to become effective
managers and leaders. Participants go from understanding the fundamentals to getting first-hand experience
of the skills being taught by practicing and observing for themselves.

Leadership Fundamentals
Learn about the key characteristics that differentiate a good leader from a good manager. Evaluate yourself
against these attributes and establish your target areas of improvement.

Self-Awareness
Deep dive into the various dimensions of personality and use scientifically validated frameworks to get a
detailed understanding of your own personality. You will learn how others see you and how personality
influences decision making.

Motivation

Prof. Jayanth (Jay) Narayanan is an Associate Professor of


Management & Organisations at the NUS Business School.
He received his Ph.D. from the London Business School and
was a professor at IMD, Switzerland prior to re-joining NUS
in 2018. Professor Jay teaches MBA, and Executive MBA
courses and has been the Director of the Ph.D. programme
for the Management and Organisation department at the
