been a kettler and a ladies’ man,

traveling extensively to various
countries. But one day the hardened
womanizer fell in love and was
rejected. After that, he withdrew from
the world and now lived a secluded life
on his estate.

A lavish hunting dinner with venison,

veal, turkey, and good wine lasted into
the evening. A snowstorm was howling
outside the window, and the hospitable
host left the guests for the night. No
one was in a hurry to sleep, the guests
gathered in a luxurious living room and
spent their time in merry conversation.

Under the wind howling outside the

window the conversation turned to
ghosts and spirits that can live in such
an old mansion. The guests began to
argue about whether ghosts existed or
not. One elderly gentleman recounted
the adventures of his uncle, who had
once personally encountered the ghost
of a noble lady who had died over a
hundred years ago.
