DISCUSSION
2.1 Football History
According to the history of football that has been traced, that this game
started from the ancient civilizations of Rome, China and Greece. This soccer game is
played by dribbling and kicking the ball towards a target by the players. In century In
the Middle Ages, soccer games were played with an unlimited number of players. The
ball used in the game is made of animal skin, or also uses its intestines.
In the 20th century, this sport then began to have rules that were formalized
to be able to create games that could be enjoyed by people around the world. The soccer
game that is currently being played is modern soccer which already follows the official
rules. The players are required to be able to know the rules and be able to master the
technique of playing soccer reliably so they can play well.
2.2 Ancient football history
The history of ancient football starts from a country called China, more precisely
when it was during the Han Dynasty. That is around the second or third century before
the Christian calendar. Football games that existed at that time used leather balls, and
even getting the ball into the goal was very difficult, because the goal was made of a
small net. The sport of football was presented by the people at that time so that the
Chinese soldiers remained physically trained. As well as entertainment when there is a
birthday celebration of the emperor. The football game that existed at that time was
called tsu chu.
Besides being famous in China, it turns out that soccer is also one of the favorite
games of Japanese citizens. Where the game is played by dribbling a ball made of deer
skin and is referred to as "here". This kind of football game is also found in countries
such as Rome, England, Mexico,Central America to the Ancient Egyptians who have
played football using a ball made of rubber.
Then there are interesting events from ancient football history. Namely during
2
3
the time of King Edward in England, there was a ban on the game of football because
there were so many acts of violence that led to acts of brutality because there were no
clear rules. However, in 1369 King Edward III then lifted the ban and again allowed
the game of football.
But gradually, the game of football returned to being banned by Queen Elizabeth
I in 1572. The ban was issued without any compromise by establishing strict sanctions
that anyone who plays football will be punished. prison. Until finally a breath of fresh
air blew in the late 1680s. King Charles II immediately lifted the tires, as well as
providing protection to anyone who wants to play football in England.
2.3 History of Modern Football
The history of modern football begins in England. Marked by the establishment
of a football association organization through a meeting of 11 representatives from
football associations in the Football Association Freemason's Tavern (London-
England). In this meeting, a series of single rules for the game of football was
established. Later, the rules were followed by the football associations of Wales,
Scotland and Ireland. Next, fourth
the association will form the International Football Association Board (IFAB) to be
able to coordinate world soccer rules.
In line with the development and progress of world football, the Federation
International de Football Association (FIFA) was founded in Paris, France on May 21,
1904. A meeting initiated by two football figures namely Henry Delaunay and Jules
Rimet was attended by 7 countries namely Denmark, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland,
Belgium and
Dutch. These countries were then designated as the first FIFA members chaired by
Robert Guerin from France. The football championship that existed at that time was
still classified as the Olympics, but its membership continued to grow. The following
is a list of important events in the history of modern football by year:
In 1863, the English Football Association was formed. In 1885, a match was held
outside the territory of England, namely Canada against America. In 1886, the first
meeting was held with the agenda of discussing the formation of an organization,
namely the World Football Association. In 1888, it was established that the referee had
started to fully control the match. In 1904, FIFA was formed in France with members
Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. In 1904, FIFA
4
finally stood with the aim of being able to advance world football with the slogan "For
The Game, For The World" which means that the game of football will become a
unifier between nations after the world war.
The FIFA Headquarters is located in Zurich, Switzerland which is the place to
witness activities carried out by FIFA, for example the Champions League draw,
awarding the best player award and others. The tasks carried out by FIFA are
promoting football, making arrangements for the transfer of players from team to
another team, deciding on the title of the world's best player, and publishing a list of
FIFA world rankings every month.
2.4 History of World Football
The development of football in the world continued, until in 1908 the game of
football was included in the Olympics and held the first world championship for soccer
games or the World Cup in Uruguay in the 1930s. There are things that are unique apart
from the technicalities of playing football that must be noted, namely the success of
the BBC which became the first television station to successfully broadcast a football
game in 1938, and in 1966 the replay feature was used for every goal that occurred on
television broadcasts..
The game of football, throughout the history of football is indeed a means of
entertainment that is most popular with many people in the world. This is what made
FIFA expand its wings by forming several regional association bodies consisting of
several countries as follows:
UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) which is a group or football
association covering European countries.CONCACAF(The Confederation of North,
Central American and Caribbean Association Football) is a football group or
association that houses countries in Central America, the Caribbean and North
America.CONMEBO(Confederacion Sudamericana de Futbol) which is a football
group or association that houses countries in Asia.CAF (Confederation of African
Football) which is a football group or association to oversee countries on the African
continent.OFC (Oceania Football Confederation) which is the football association that
houses the Oceania State.
2.5 History of Indonesian Football
The history of Indonesian football cannot be separated from the role of other
nations that have colonized or traded in Indonesian territory. For the first time, in the
5
history of Indonesian football, it was China who introduced the game of football to
Indonesia to show that China is no less superior than countries in Europe such as the
Netherlands. So besides having a desire to trade, China also has such a large share in
the history of Indonesian football.
It has been recorded that in 1915, there were many football clubs or associations
that were founded and founded by Chinese citizens, even in 1920 there were clubs like
UMS Jakarta and Surabaya which had become the greatest clubs in Dutch East Indies
football (the name of Indonesia's past). Indonesia's greatness at that time turned out to
have participated in the world cup in 1938.
In the course of the history of Indonesian football, there have been several
important events to note, namely the establishment of the Indonesian football
association whose job is to oversee football clubs in Indonesia. The organization was
named PSSI (All Indonesian Football Association) which was founded on April 19,
1930 in Yogyakarta. PSSI was founded before Indonesia's participation in the 1938
World Cup in France.
Another thing that needs to be noted in the history of Indonesian football is that
there was a dispute between PSSI and NIVU to decide who had the right to participate
in the World Cup match in France. At that time Soeratin Sosrosoegondo wanted a
match between PSSI and NIVB. However, FIFA immediately recognized the PSSI and
NIVU cooperation bodies so that the name brought to France was not Indonesia, but
the Dutch East Indies.
In the history of Indonesian football there is also a figure who became an
important figure behind the presence of PSSI, namely Soeratin Sosrosoegondo who is
an indigenous child who has attended education at the Heckelenburg Higher Technical
School, Germany. He wanted to realize the Youth Pledge as was done on 28 October
1928. According to him, football was a very appropriate way to increase the spirit of
youth nationalism to fight against Dutch colonialism.
Then it was Soeratin Sosrosoegondo who unilaterally broke off relations with
NIVU at the congress held in Solo in 1938. This breakup was the result of his
frustration because at every time he took part in a football match, he always wore the
NIVU or the Dutch flag. The entry of Japanese troops into Indonesia caused PSSI to
be passive in competing, because Japan included PSSI as part of the Tai Iku Kai, a
sports body made in Japan.
Then it also became part of Gelora (1944) and only then became autonomous
6
again at the PORI III congress in Yogyakarta (1949). After the death of Soeratin
Sosrosoegondo, the achievements of the Indonesian national football team were not
very satisfactory because the development of the national team was not matched by the
development of organization and competition. In the era before the 1970s, several
Indonesian players had competed in international competitions including Ramang,
Sucipto Suntoro, Ronny Pattinasarani, and Tan Liong Houw.
In its development, PSSI has expanded domestic football competitions, including
by holding the Indonesian Super League, Main Division, Division
One, and Division Two for non-amateur players, and Division Three for amateur
players. In addition, PSSI is also actively developing women's soccer competitions and
competitions for certain age groups (U-15, U-17, U-19, U21, U-22 and U-23).
Unfortunately history
The length of football in Indonesia has not been able to change the achievements
of Indonesian football on the international stage. It takes ball management and high
determination to change Indonesian football for the better.
CHAPTER III
CLOSING
Conclusion
Players are divided into two teams, each consisting of 11 people fighting to put
a round ball into the opponent's goal ("scoring"). The team that scores more goals is
the winner (usually within 90 minutes, but there are other ways to determine the winner
if the result is a draw). The most important rule in achieving this goal is that the players
(except the goalkeeper) may not touch the ball with their hands while it is still in play
Saran
Playing soccer also requires excellent brain abilities. To be able to play soccer,
we must practice a lot and cultivate tenacious cooperation because in this game
togetherness and tenacity are needed in playing in order to create dynamics of
togetherness to achieve victory.
