EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The concept of 'eco-friendly items' has grown in popularity in recent years. Bamboo could
play an important role in the transition by offering a feasible, bio-based alternative to non-
renewable, carbon-intensive 'techno-cycle' materials. This fast-growing grass plant can be
utilised to make a wide range of durable and consumable products, which can often replace
those produced of man-made materials. Bamboo is a rapidly self-regenerating plant that
grows swiftly, can be harvested without replanting, and matures quickly, within 3 to 5 years,
to a durable, wood-like substance with a wide range of applications. Durable bamboo items,
such as phone case, plant holder and home décor items. One of the primary goals is to
eliminate the use of plastic items. Plastic can take up to 1000 years to biodegrade and is the
major cause of global pollution. In contrast to plastic, bamboo is a highly renewable, natural
material with antibacterial and antifungal characteristics that is biodegradable. Bamboo is one
of the most durable materials available and has been used for millennia in everything from
bridges to scaffolds. It is also termite-resistant, giving it a more long-lasting option than many
wood goods. Because it is a renewable and hardy material, it does not require pesticides.
Bamboo is also natural enough to biodegrade completely in a landfill. It is also naturally
resistant to UV rays. Bamboo is thus a great option for sustainable living. It is also a great
choice for creating eco-friendly products that last longer and require less maintenance.

INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION
India is a country with tremendous growth and development potential. While the last two
decades have seen tremendous urbanisation and a stratospheric rise in the living standards of

4|Page
people, the present emphasis is on revitalising the rural economy by unlocking the potential
through a wide variety of inter-sectoral reforms.

One of the most potent yet undiscovered keys is bamboo. Beyond the North East, numerous
States around the country have the ideal environment to support extensive bamboo
production. This is shown by the fact that India has the second-highest species variety (136
different varieties of bamboo) and the greatest area under bamboo production, totalling more
than 15.69 million hectares. The soil of India is one of its most significant resources.
Being one of India's most important resources, bamboo can be strategically used to enhance
rural and tribal livelihoods significantly, potentially reducing poverty, empowering women,
and improving the local environment. Although bamboo is among the best crops for
commercial forestry, some species of bamboo need to have their commercial viability
improved.
For thousands of years, numerous cultures all throughout the world have used bamboo.
Bamboo has been quite well-liked in recent years as a sustainable material. It is a rapidly
expanding plant that can produce a wide range of goods. As a sustainable alternative to wood,
bamboo is currently seeing a surge in creative products and uses. Continue reading to learn
about some of the best bamboo items that you probably had no idea existed. Bamboo has
long been prized for its adaptability, durability, rapid growth, wide range of uses, and
environmental friendliness.

BUSINESS IDEA
Our startup idea is to provide eco-friendly bamboo products in the market for an affordable
price range. The main idea behind this startup is to take a step forward to a sustainable world

and by providing trendy products to our customers. One of our main objectives is to eliminate
plastic products. Plastic can take up to 1000 years to biodegrade and is the leading cause of
mass pollution all over the world. Bamboo is a highly renewable, natural material that has
antibacterial, antifungal properties and is biodegradable as opposed to plastic. Bamboo is one
of the most robust materials on the planet and has been used for centuries in everything from
bridges to scaffolding. It is also termite resistant, making it a more durable choice than many
wood products. Being such a renewable and hardy material also means it requires no
pesticides. Bamboo is also natural enough to fully biodegrade in landfill. It is also naturally
UV resistant

Description of products:
1. Bamboo Phone Case

Eco-friendly phone cases are a direct response to the plastic waste issue. Made from materials
like bamboo or cork, and using biodegradable glues and lining, they are designed to protect
your phone with minimal impact on the environment. High quality durable light weight
protective accessories that is ideal for your smart phones.

• They are beautifully unique. That means every phone case has its little snowflake
differences. Small variations in texture and grain are what make things exciting from our
geeky design perspective.

• They are vegan and plant-based, which is important to us and our animal-loving
customers.

6|Page
• Bamboo is grippy! And that is a major plus point for us for phone case design. Having
something textural that fits in the hand and does not slip is a functional, beautiful feature that
makes sense.

• It is a hardwearing material. Because there’s no point in having a phone case that looks
good but doesn’t protect your phone in the case of slips or drops.

• Best of all, they are completely compostable within 60-90 days.

2. Bamboo Home Décor

Bamboo decorations can make a dramatic impression on your home. Adding an exotic
elegance to any room, decorating with bamboo will bring memories of some long-ago
vacation somewhere tropical or dreams of visiting the mysterious beauty of Asia. Aesthetic
components of bamboo are used to make the home more attractive and visually appealing.

3. Bamboo Plant Holder

7|Page
A bamboo planter is a structure made of bamboo that is designed to hold live plants and soil.
It is minimalist, small, natural and will complement succulents, cactus, and small plants.
Natural and sustainable bamboo for your home decor; to enhance the beauty and naturalness
of surroundings. This natural bamboo planter has been treated (with mild chemicals such as
salts) for insect attacks and borers.

The bamboo products market is segmented into personal and residential, commercial, and
industrial and infrastructure.
PERSONAL- All smart phone users
RESIDENTIAL- All horticulturists and Home Décor enthusiasts.

Governance and regulatory control details:

Bamboo, widely grown in India, has immense potential to transform the country's rural /
Tribal economy and contribute to the sustainable development efforts of the country.
However, because it is governed by a complex web of forestry laws and policies, there are
serious restrictions on its cultivation, harvesting and transportation. These laws, coupled with
the contradictory policies on ownership of forest resources and tenure security, along with a
lack of institutional mechanisms that would facilitate the same, have made it difficult for
India's rural citizens to unlock the value of this abundant resource. India lags far behind its
neighbours—particularly China—in maximising its use of bamboo.

Severity About Our Study Problem (Urgency In Doing This

Business):
The primary motivation behind this firm is to advance toward a sustainable planet while
offering our customers products that are on-trend. To eradicate plastic items is one of our key
goals. Plastic is the primary global source of mass pollution and can take up to 1000 years to
biodegrade. In contrast to plastic, bamboo is a highly renewable natural material that is
biodegradable and possesses antibacterial and antifungal characteristics. One of the world's
toughest building materials, bamboo has been utilised for millennia in everything from
scaffolding to bridges.

Porter’s Five Forces Model:

9|Page
A business analysis framework called Porter's Five Forces can help to understand why
different industries are able to maintain varying levels of profitability.
The Five Forces model is frequently used to evaluate a company's corporate strategy as well
as its industry structure. With some qualifications, Porter identified five immovable forces
that affect every market and business in the globe. The five factors are widely used to assess
the level of rivalry, the allure, and the profitability of a market or business.
The five forces are as follows: -

• Competition in the industry:

Many conventional materials, such as wood for furniture, hardwood for flooring and decking,
plastic for everyday things like toothbrushes, charcoal manufacture, pharmaceutical products,
and bamboo fibre for cotton and synthetic fabrics, are being replaced by bamboos. In
comparison to other hardwoods, bamboo takes a lot less time to reach its full potential and is
less expensive to cultivate.
To turn bamboo into useful materials, skilled labour is required. Since the bamboo sector
depends heavily on labour, a lack of competent people is its main problem. More than a
thousand different species of bamboo exist in the world, and effectively utilising these
species will improve the usage of bamboo resources. A competent workforce is anticipated to
raise productivity, expand the scope of industry innovation, and improve production
capacities.
In both domestic and international markets, bamboo products are distributed through offline
and online channels. The major companies have regional offices to serve their customers with
individualised products, while small-scale manufacturers typically distribute their products
directly to consumers via third-party e-commerce portals. Industry participants sell the
products through their websites directly with the assistance of their distribution network.

•Potential of new entrants in the industry

An industry's competitive climate can be altered by new entries, and this can have a big
effect on how much money existing businesses make. The cost of goods decreases when
more businesses enter the market in an effort to compete for customers. Companies must
spend a lot of money to increase their entry barriers.
It is shown that bamboo products have a sizable potential local market base. Additionally,
there is a sizable export market that is currently dominated by China and may be reached by
industrialising the industry. At every stage of the production-to-consumption system, there

10 | P a g e
are a wide range of obstacles to overcome. Many of these obstacles are of a legislative and
regulatory nature, while many others have to do with the inappropriate and insufficient
implementation of current programmes. The article lays out a framework of suggestions for
handling each obstacle individually as well as determining the appropriate authorities to
address the problem.

• Power of suppliers
The necessary inputs or raw materials are supplied by suppliers to market participants. These
inputs may be supplied by the suppliers in the form of labour, materials, funds, or
technological support. Numerous factors affect the suppliers' ability to negotiate. The
suppliers' negotiation power is expected to be significant if the quality of the inputs or raw
materials is extraordinary. The factors that impact the strength of the suppliers' bargaining
power include the distinctiveness of the inputs or raw materials, the quality of the product
that the suppliers are offering, and increased demand for the supplier's products.
Because these are the primary sources of bamboo in India, we obtain our raw materials from
the forests and rural areas of North-eastern and Eastern India, which includes the political
territories of the States of West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur,
Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura.

• Power of customers
A buyer's negotiation position should be better if they have the choice of changing
providers. Additionally, the buyers' bargaining power is assumed to be greater if a small
number of buyers buy a huge volume of commodities. Furthermore, it would be expected
that the sector will have significant negotiation power for goods where quality comes first.
Due to the ease with which numerous alternatives with better price offerings are available,
the volume of goods purchased by the buyers, their sensitivity to pricing/cost-related factors,
and their low brand loyalty, it is anticipated that the buyers' bargaining power will be very
high in the case of the bamboo products that we have chosen.
Because the customer base is smaller and more powerful, each consumer has more power to
negotiate for lower prices and better terms. A company with a large number of small,
independent clients will find it easier to raise prices and increase profitability.

• Threat of substitute products

The presence of alternatives will undoubtedly damage the industry's appeal and reduce its

11 | P a g e
profitability. This is because replacements have a direct impact on both the prices of the
products and consumer demand for them. The threat posed by substitutes to the retail sector is
very significant. The buyers will have more options to select from the available alternatives
to meet their needs as more substitute products become available. Quality, affordability, and
performance of the substitute items are only a few of the variables that directly affect
consumers' propensity to purchase them.

Uniqueness Of Your Product Or Solution:

At Vetra we have built our brand around offering eco-friendly alternatives to our customers,
and bamboo is a big part of that. All the products created and sold by Vetra are made using
eco-friendly alternatives to wasteful materials like plastics. Wherever possible, Vetra uses
biodegradable materials and plastic alternatives so our customers can feel as good about our
products the day they have to retire as the day they bought them. The best part about bamboo
is that it is strong, durable, resilient, and has antimicrobial and antifungal properties.

Market segmentation strategy:
We will concentrate on individual consumers and wholesale customers for a variety of
reasons, including:
Increased profit margins. Although sales volume will be lower than if wholesale distributors
were used, margins will be higher.
Increased customer contact. A stronger relationship will be formed by selling directly to
consumers. This is advantageous because it provides a more precise feedback loop, which is
useful in product development. More effective. Distribution involves fewer layers.

provide sustainable alternatives to traditional products. With a solid operational plan in place,
we will be able to efficiently manufacture and distribute our products to our target customers.

Our marketing plan focuses on reaching environmentally conscious consumers through

targeted advertising, influencer marketing, and effective social media engagement. We will
also participate in relevant events and collaborate with other sustainable brands to raise
awareness and promote our eco-friendly bamboo products. As more consumers become
aware of the negative impact of traditional products on the environment, we believe that our
eco-friendly bamboo products will become an increasingly attractive option.

Through our financial plan, we have projected significant revenue growth in the first few
years, allowing us to reinvest in the business and expand our product offerings. Our revenue
projections are driven by our commitment to sustainable and ethical business practices
Our commitment to using sustainable materials and ethical business practices sets us apart in
the industry, and we believe that we can capture a significant share of the market. Bamboo is
highly renewable, naturally antibacterial, antifungal, termite-resistant, and biodegradable,
making it an excellent alternative to plastic and other materials that harm the environment.

We are confident in our team's ability to execute on this plan, and we look forward to the
growth and success of our business in the years ahead.
