tenants accurately - by the actual operational demand of each indoor unit

The Challenge with VRF Metering


Many multi-space building managers want to measure the energy consumption of every space, for the purpose of improving
operational performance, tenant billing and more. With VRF systems, where most energy is consumed by the condensers,
there is a challenge of how to distribute the condenser’s energy correctly between the different air handlers. The VRF Power
Distribution solution allows them to remotely and easily access the energy consumption of each unit from anywhere.

The Solution
WattMeters measure the actual condenser power consumption and push this data continuously over Modbus RTU to
CoolMaster or CoolMasterPro, which then transfers the periodic readings to CoolAutomation’s Cloud for analysis. The cloud-
based application then breaks the overall consumption to each of the individual indoor units, based on CoolAutomation’s
unique algorithm that accurately calculates the actual operational ratio and kWh of each indoor unit.
The Solution’s Topology
The CoolAutomation VRF Power Distribution solution allows you to bill your tenants accurately - by the actual operational
demand of each indoor unit. The solution requires a field supplied WattMeter with a Modbus RTU interface, and can support
multiple VRF systems and mixed VRF brand topologies.
