11. Rational of the Course:
      This course will cover the fundamental principles of design of different hydraulic structures.
      Detailed design of Dames, Barrages & Weirs, Spillways gates and Cross Drainage Works
      will be covered by this course.
      This course is important as it introduces the detailed design procedure of different hydraulic
      structures to Civil Engineering 4th year students. This is an elective course for the students
      enrolling B. Sc. Engg. in CE program.
      Course Content:
      Principles of design of hydraulic structures, Types of hydraulic structures, Design of dams:
      Earthen and Gravity dams, Seismic design of Dam, Barrages, Weirs, Spillways, Spillway
      gates, Cross drainage works.

          a) Familiarization with different hydraulic structures
          b) Introduce different design procedure for different hydraulic structures
           c) Demonstrate the importance of seismic factors to hydraulic structures
