Introduction:
The 8th GSP Simultaneous School Camp was held on October 29-30, 2023, at the Simata
Elementary School in Zamboanga del Sur Division with the theme, "Girl's Vision: A Sustainable
World For All." The camp aimed to encourage girl scouts to take action and work towards
creating a sustainable world. The two-day camp was filled with exciting activities, and it
provided an opportunity for scouts to learn new skills, develop their leadership qualities, and
make new friends.
Day 1:
On the first day of the camp, the girl scouts arrived, settled down, and registered at the Simata
Elementary School. They were then given an orientation by their respective sub-camps, where
they were introduced to their camp leaders and briefed on the activities scheduled for the camp.
The opening ceremony of the camp was a memorable event, as the girl scouts came together to
showcase their GSP songs and yells. This was followed by a session on knot-tying and lashing,
where the girl scouts learned different techniques of tying knots and using lashing to build
structures.
The symposium on mental health was a crucial aspect of the camp, as it emphasized the
importance of maintaining good mental health. The girl scouts were taught different coping
mechanisms to manage stress and anxiety.
The outdoor games organized on the first day of the camp were a hit among the girl scouts. They
participated in different games that required teamwork and strategy, which helped them develop
their physical and mental skills.
Day 2:
The second day of the camp began with a Scouts Own ceremony, where the girl scouts gathered
together to reflect on their personal experiences and share their thoughts on creating a sustainable
world. This was followed by the Colors ceremony, where the Philippine flag was hoisted, and the
national anthem was sung.
The poster-making contest was an exciting activity that allowed the girl scouts to showcase their
creativity and design skills. They were given a theme related to sustainability, and they had to
create posters that conveyed the message effectively.
The outdoor cooking activity was a highlight of the second day, where the girl scouts learned
how to cook egg barbecue over an open fire. This activity taught them the importance of using
sustainable cooking methods and minimizing waste.
The Talents Unlimited activity was another exciting event where the girl scouts performed
different talents, such as singing, dancing, and acting. The performances were judged by the
camp leaders, and the winners were awarded prizes.
The camp ended with a closing ceremony, where the girl scouts gathered to bid farewell to their
new friends and camp leaders. The outstanding performers of the poster-making and talents
unlimited contests were awarded prizes during the ceremony.
Conclusion:
The 8th GSP Simultaneous School Camp in Zamboanga del Sur Division was a resounding
success. The theme of creating a sustainable world for all resonated with the girl scouts, and they
were inspired to take action and make a positive impact in their communities. The two-day camp
provided the scouts with an opportunity to learn new skills, develop their leadership qualities,
and make new friends. It was an unforgettable experience for all who attended, and it left a
lasting impression on the minds of the girl scouts.
