1. Action Research Project (30%)

Instruction:

In groups, conduct an action research project based on the teaching product (board game/
mobile application/others) that you have designed. The purposes of this action research
project are mainly to examine the problems faced by your students in learning one aspect of
your course, and to investigate how the product that you have designed helps to enhance
students’ learning. Then, write a report based on the following sections:

Introduction (problem statement/Research Questions)


Literature Review (recent articles from 1998-2022)
Methodology (Action Research Design/ Participants/ Data Collection Methods &
Instruments)
Methodology (Data Collection Procedures/ Data Analysis/ Trustworthiness)

Discussion/ Reflection/ Conclusion

Your report will be written using the Malaysian Journal of Learning and Instruction’s (MJLI)
template and the length of the report will be between 20-25 pages. Refer to the final report
rubric. You also need to present the findings of this project. The due date is in Week 12.

2. Constructive Alignment / Simple Proposal (10%) Due Date: Week 4

Instruction:

In group, prepare a simple proposal (constructive alignment) of your action research project
which will guide you during the planning and the implementation of the project. This
constructive alignment is due in Week 4. You may use the following templates:

3) Presentation of the final report (20%)

Instruction:

Present your action research project to the whole class in Week 12. You will be given 10
minutes to present the findings, and another 5 minutes will be alloted for question and
answer. Please refer to the presentation rubric.

ALTERNATIVE ASSESSMENT (Individual work) (40%)

4) Article Review (20%)

Instruction:

Review an article which used Action Research as an approach. First, summarize the content
of the article. Second, critique it based on its strengths and weaknesses. Finally, discuss the
relevance of its intervention to be used in your teaching context. You may need to support
your arguments with past studies (literature review). The length of this review is between 4
to 5 pages. The due date is in Week 6.

Note: The article chosen by the student will have to be approved by the lecturer.

5) Reflection (20%)

Instruction:

Write a reflection of the process of implementing your action research project. You may need
to include all the processes (before, during, after) of your research experience to highlight
what you have learned and also to discuss some challenges that you faced. You may use
Gibb’s reflective model in writing this reflection. Your reflection should not be more than 3
pages long. This individual reflection is due in Week 10.
