Snap-Action Mechanisms
Generally spring based mechanism
Linear Actuators
Clamping Mechanisms
Ratchets
Used in locks, jacks, clockwork etc.
Indexing mechanisms
An indexing mechanism or intermittent drive is a mechanism that turns a wheel or shaft a small amount then stops
for a set amount of time the turns again.
Indexing in a milling machine is mainly used to cut gear teeth accurately and equal spacing of the teeth of the gear.
Indexing tables in assembly lines, for mass production, tool changers for CNC machines etc.
Geneva mechanism
Oscillating mechanisms
Quick-return mechanism
Used in shaper machine to cut the metals.
Reciprocating Mechanism
Quick-return mechanism
Whitworth quick-return linkage
Coupling and connectors
Hooke joint
