Among the 11 essential management theories, choose one theory that is

incorporated with the essence of laboratory management and will impart as an
organizational system within the clinical laboratory:
In my personal point of view of choosing one theory that is incorporated with the
essence of laboratory management and will impart as an organizational system
within the clinical laboratory is the Scientific Management by Frederick Taylor. From
the definition itself “promotes standardization, specialization, assignment based on
ability, and extensive training and supervision. In every clinical laboratory, medical
laboratory scientists must know, learn and adapt every kind of techniques that a
medical laboratory scientists must do in every clinical section inside clinical
laboratory. Medical laboratory scientists must have this kind of mindset that need to
be triggered in order for them/us (future medical technologists) to be competitive
and work fully hard under pressure that makes them/us to be motivated through
clinical laboratory visions and missions.

2. If you will be a laboratory manager in the future, what roles and attributes of a
medical laboratory scientist that must always practice inside a clinical
laboratory, incorporate it within the management skills:

Conceptual Skills: I must require my ability to manage to teach all laboratory

knowledge and skills to those who under my authority and handle what every
patient needs for laboratory testing and diagnosing.
Human Skills: For human skills, I must allow myself to work with my
colleagues balanced and with fairness, listen to their opinion not by being a one-
sided person to communicate well and brainstorm of what is with their mind
that can contribute to make our laboratory management flow well without any
conflict. Also, to have the ability to to interact and communicate with others.
Technical Skills: In technical skills as a Laboratory Manager in the future, I
must know all laboratory techniques from laboratory machine diagnosing to
monitoring my staff’s performance. From the word itself “technical” needs to
specialized knowledge and expertise to perform specific tasks and use specific
tools and program in real world situations
