Introductory Message
For the facilitator:

Welcome to the Technical Vocational Livelihood Education ICT Grade 12 CSS NC II Module
on Set Up User Access: Installing Client on a Virtual Machine.

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators from
Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its Officer-In-Charge Schools Division
Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A. Agustin in partnership with the Local
Government of Pasig through its Mayor, Honorable Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto.
The writers utilized the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum using the Most Essential
Learning Competencies (MELC) while overcoming their personal, social, and economic
constraints in schooling.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent learning
activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners acquire the
needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs namely: Communication, Collaboration,
Creativity, Critical Thinking and Character while taking into consideration their needs and
circumstances.

Module on Set Up User Access: Installing Client on a Virtual Machine.

 LESSON

Installing Client on a Virtual Machine.

Introduction

In our previous discussion, we have installed our server on the VMware

Workstation 12. You have learned how to install and uninstall it all over again. We will
now install Windows 7 x64 as our CLIENT.
Windows 7 is something of a relic. Not quite as ancient as Windows XP, of course.
But Windows 7 has already ended its support system since January 2020. Both
opeerating systems that we are using here have already expired support system.
Meaning, we cannot get updates from Microsoft. At that point, Microsoft will stop issuing
public Windows 7 security patches. Companies that rely on Windows 7 will pay Microsoft
to keep working on and fixing the operating system. But those fixes are unlikely to reach
the public. Anyway, we are just using these softwares for educational purpose only and
we can install and uninstall from time to time as part of our lesson. And as of this
moment,TESDA Traning Regulation has not yet migrated.
So, for today’s lesson, we will discuss the process of installing client on a virtual
machine. Illustration below are the steps on how to install Windows 7 x64 as our client
in VMware Workstation 12.

How to install Windows 7 x64 on the VMware Workstation 12.

The following are the steps in installing Windows 7 x64 on the VMware Workstation 12:

Fig.2. Click Create a New Virtual Machine. A Welcome screen will appear. Select TYPICAL as type
of configuration then click NEXT…..

 ACTIVITIES

Activity 1. Hands-on Activity

Let us try this activity…

1. From your installed client, shutdown your client. Click start button and select
shutdown or press ALT+F4.
2. While the client is off, select Windows 7 (your client) press RMB and select REMOVED.
Then click REMOVE to execute….

3. Now, go to Virtual Machine default folder. Select Windows 7 (client) machine and
DELETE.

4. Open your VMware and try to repeat the process of installing and uninstalling
Windows 7 x64 -bit using VMware Workstation 12.
5. If you feel that you have mastered this process, try to answer the Self-Assessment
Guide in your worksheet provided for this activity just like before.
6. Again, rate yourself from 1 to 5 ( 1 as the lowest and five as the highest).

Installing Windows 7 on the VMWare Workstation is just like installing your

server as per discussion in our previous lesson. Mount your Windows 7 ISO image and
select Windows 7x64-bit Ultimate as guest operating system. Remember that selecting
Home Basic will not be work if you are on the process of remote desktop. Follow through
the process to finish the installation.
