operational procedures
Task Sharing:
• PF (Capt)
• Guard the Side-stick and Thrust levers throughout the APP,
LDG or GA
• Be ready to take immediate manual control if the A/P or A/T
performance is unsatisfactory
• From 500‟ progressively increase external scanning for
visual references APPROACH
• Continue to monitor the flight path using instruments, whilst
looking out for the approach & runway lightings.
• At DH, continue to monitor the flight path and flare by
visual references.
operational procedures
Task Sharing:
• PM (Co-Pilot)
• Monitor flight instruments throughout the approach and
landing until rollout to a safe taxi speed
• Callout any deviations, warnings or failures
• At 350`RA, check correct ILS course on heading scale
• Monitor the FMA and AUTOLAND status annunciations
• Make all required callouts APPROACH
• Be alert to pilot subtle incapacitation
• Below 1000ft, if no response is received from the PF,
initiate a GA.
• It is recommended to continue with the auto land if the
incapacitation occurs below DH.
operational procedures
Visual References
At least 3 consecutive lights of:
• Centerline of approach lights, or
• Touchdown zone lights, or
• Runway centerline lights, or
• Runway edge lights
AND
An Approach light cross bar, or the Runway threshold lights APPROACH
Note:
• If visual reference is lost after touchdown, a GA should not be
attempted. The rollout should be continued with the autopilot
in ROLLOUT mode down to taxi speed
operational procedures
Go Around
Below 1000ft you will go around for three reasons only:
Go Around
Initiate the GA below 1000ft if:
You cannot complete an AUTOLAND
• Activation of Master Caution light (“Ding”)
• Any equipment required for the CAT2 approach fails
(“Click, click, click”)
• Autopilot disconnects (“Cavalry charge”) APPROACH
• LAND is not displayed or RWY course is incorrect by
350‟ RA
• Activation of the AUTOLAND red warning light
• “NO FLARE” call from the CM 2
• Pilot Incapacitation (see abnormal operations)
operational procedures
Go Around
Initiate the GA below 1000ft if:
You are UNSTABLE
• ROD exceeds 1000ft/min
• Speed deviates from target by more than -5/+10kts
• LOC deviation greater than 1/4 dot
APPROACH
• GS deviation greater than 1 dot
operational procedures
Go Around
Initiate the GA below 1000ft if:
You cannot SEE the runway at minima
• Insufficient visual references at DH to continue a
safe landing
• Loss of visual references occurs after DH
APPROACH
operational procedures
Go Around
After the GA, if another approach is planned:
• Re-assess the status of the airplane (refer to the REQ EQUIP
LIST)
• Re-assess the weather and runway conditions
• Consider if another approach at a different category is
possible, APPROACH
• E.g. downgrading CAT 2 to CAT 1
operational procedures
After touchdown
• Even if visual references are lost, DO NOT go-around.
• Ensure that the aircraft speed is well under control prior to
vacating the runway.
• AP OFF! Before attempting to vacate the runway.
• Advise ATC when clear of the LSA.

• Auto land unsuccessful – open a
techlog entry with details.
• Circle FAILED and NOT AVAIL
• Maintenance to rectify or defer or
Captain to defer as per PTI.
abnormal operations
Above 1000’
Approach may be continued below 1000’ provided:
• All instrument switching complete
• All ECAM actions complete
• Wx permits and DH modified
The approach must be fully stabilised before 1000’
From 1000’ full attention must be given to the final approach,
auto flight performance and the decision at minima.
abnormal operations
Below 1000’
GA
1. MASTER CAUTION (“Ding”)
2. Downgrade below required
1000ft capability (“Click-click-click”)
3. AP OFF – cavalry charge
4. ENGINE FAILURE
