REFLECTION/ REFLECTIVE ESSAY

In the few months that I have been continuing my studies, there are many things that have made
me wonder if I have learned enough or have I learned anything now despite the changes in the education
system today. At this point, I would like to narrate my study through a reflective essay in which I will
share what I have learned and gathered new knowledge we have studied regarding our course subject.
First of all, I want to give my own understanding of what “Strategic Management” is. We know that
Strategic management is one of the mainly central skills in business organization. Of course in Strategic
Management, we can have a chance to learn on how we can manage and control businesses and projects
proactively. The strategic management is held to be a permanent method that facilitate in supervising,
analysis and assessment of all the necessary things for an organization in order to meet its goals and
objectives. The strategic management is a commitment to the strategic planning that represents that
organizational ability for determining the goals in producing the results from the decisions and actions.
Thru the course I have learned that Strategic Management builds on many developments and that various
companies and organizations with diverse backgrounds can teach us valuable lessons. To be on the
lookout for what can be considered a beneficial development in an organization or perhaps what can be a
bad plan plausibly implemented at the wrong time.

In chapter 1, I have learned some objectives that can helps me to understand what process that
strategic management can do? So, According to the lecture that we’d discussed, Strategic management
can be defined as the art and science of formulating, implementing, and evaluating cross-functional
decisions that enable an organization to achieve its objectives. As this definition implies, strategic
management focuses on integrating management, marketing, finance/accounting, production/operations,
research and development, and information systems to achieve organizational success. For me, this is
essential to place the objectives and work on attaining to me as a student. It also deals with the making of
choice about the opportunity of a business. It is useful in discovering the course of moving a team. The
strategic management is helpful in providing maintain to manage the business and industries and
facilitates in evaluating the competitor's goals and strategies for meeting all existing and potential
competitors. Moreover, it is also helpful to provide broader perspectives for the employees of an
organization that how they are being fitted on the jobs. It is the art of managing employees and achieving
abilities of business objectives. Strategic management is important for me as students as it provides new
traditional business topics. Secondly, it helps me in combining the favorite subjects that offer a practical,
real-world view of business management. This kind of study can supports in scheming the business
policies to integrate the learning a question in the modern business environment. Moreover, the strategic
management aims the development of awareness of the processes that an organization achieve by
interacting different departments. The study of strategic management is helpful in preparing the current
and future managers those meet the challenges of the competitive and changing environment of different
companies.
While in chapter 2 which about the mission and vision statement of the business. In this case, I
actually know that the mission and vision of a business is really important when it comes to business. So,
When I was studied this chapter, I had chance to know what exactly the purpose of having a business
mission and vision statement that’s why I want to share what I have learned. At this point, I will describe
what is mission and vision according to what we’ve discussed in our lecture. A vision statement should
answer the basic question, “What do we want to become?” An apparent vision gives the basis for
increasing an inclusive mission statement. Many businesses have both a vision and mission statement, but
the vision statement must be conventional. This is exactly right since for me if we have a statement about
vision of our business it should be provides the course in which the company wants to go. Together with
the mission statement, it helps to builds the managerial strategy for the business. When planning a
vision statement for the business, we should be answer the questions about what our hopes and dreams
are. What kind of future do we want to see, and how does the company play a part in making that
happen? However, the mission statement is a statement of an organization’s “reason for being.” It
answers the crucial question “What is our business?” A clear mission statement is essential for effectively
establishing objectives and formulating strategies. According to Peter Drucker the “the father of modern
management”, he says that asking the question “What is our business?” is synonymous with asking the
question “What is our mission?”. In addition, it is focuses more on where the business is at the present
time and the tactical steps it wants to reach its objectives. The mission statement of a company can be
used to shape the culture of the organization. A mission statement defines the business sector in which
a company functions. It summarizes what the business does and why. A mission statement helps
employees understand where their contribution fits into the company's objectives. The growth of vision
and mission statements is an essential part of the strategic management process. Having clearly defined
the vision and mission of the organization, managers then can set strategic objectives that are aligned
with the company's long-term goals.

SWOT and PESTEL are some of the tools that I have found which can help me to perform the
external analysis that will give me a strategy to know what factors can be determined through examine the
industry environment. In chapter 3, it gives me a chance to know the purpose of external audit so; the
purpose of an external audit is to extend a limited list of opportunities that could benefit a firm and threats
that should be avoided. As the term finite suggests, the external audit is not aimed at developing an
exhaustive list of every possible factor that could influence the business; rather, it is aimed at identifying
key variables that offer actionable responses. Firms should be able to respond either offensively or
defensively to the factors by formulating strategies that take advantage of external opportunities or that
minimize the impact of potential threats. The process of performing an external audit must involve as
many managers and employees as possible. As emphasized in earlier chapters, involvement in the
strategic-management process can lead to understanding and commitment from organizational members.
Individuals appreciate having the opportunity to contribute ideas and to gain a better understanding of
their firms’ industry, competitors, and markets. Furthermore, the importance of external assessment in the
organization is to categorizing and assessing external opportunities and threats enables organizations to
widen a clear mission, to plan strategies to attain long-term objectives, and to expand policies to get
annual objectives.

Thus, the study of strategic management is helpful in preparing the current and future managers
those meet the challenges of the competitive and changing environment of different companies. The
strategic management is essential to set the objectives. It also deals with the making of decisions about
the future of an organization. The strategic management is useful in providing support to control the
business and industries and helps in evaluating the competitor's goals and strategies for meeting all
existing and potential competitors. Plus, because of all these learning that I got, I will apply this to my
future job someday so that I can help myself and my future workplace. I will use some of learning that
can help me like being effectively develop to my future job and Perform daily tasks efficiently.
