Introduction
The client has asked me to add pieces of hardware to improve the system /quality of the
computer
Backing up system data in preparation for system restore
When I was doing the system data backup I used a external hard drive to move the data
from the HDD to the SSD I used a USB for the transfer and when I was doing this I made
sure to check that data was correct and secure on the USB but to make sure I used a
second USB to make sure that if any data was lost I still had it on a second USB so that all
data transferred was safe and would be on the new SSD.
Also when I was doing the data backup I made sure to go though every thing in files and
made sure it was on the USB’s
Fault-finding and repairing of at least two different internal hardware components
When fault finding in the computer I came across some un screwed in screws and I had to
take them out and made sure that nothing had been damaged from the screws rattling
around on the inside. I also had to check to make sure that every piece of hardware was
working correctly and was not faulty and I did this by check it visibly and thought the
computer by running hardware diagnostic checks
When checking the faulty DVD drive and the overheating problem I decide to give the
computer a good dust by using a brush to remove clogs of dust and then a hand heled
vacuum to collect all the dust and this seemed to fix the overheating problem.
The DVD drive fault

When doing the upgrade from HDD to SSD I had to make sure that I had done a data
backup and after that I was able to take out the HDD the replace it with a SSD, when the
SSD was in I made sure that it was working properly before put the backed up data back on
the new SSD and after it was done I made sure to keep the backup just in case the new
SSD didn’t work or if any data got left on it.
When I added a DVD drive I had to make sure that I had the right equipment for it and when
doing the installation of the DVD drive I had to make sure that the cable management inside

the computer didn’t get to chaotic so that it would make it wouldn’t cores problem in the
computer later on, after it had been installed I had to make sure it work I and did this be
seeing if a disc would work in it and I all so check it by going to device manager on the
computer to make sure it showed up and was shown to be a part of the Computer.
Installing and configuring at least one external hardware device as part of an
upgrade
When I installed the webcam I had to make sure that it was in a good place so that it would
get the person using it in frame and I also had to make sure it worked and I did this by
going on teams and making sure that when in a video call that the webcam would work and
it did so for final check I made sure it showed up in device manger.

Witness statement
The client was very impressed about how well the job was done and how good it was that I
was able to complete the task within the required time and within the budget, but they did
have some question about the overheating problem and how to stop that from happen, if
any training will need to be done on how to use the new webcam and if I was able to get all
the data backed up on to the new SSD
Technology system improvements to enhance system performance, user experience
and meet original requirements
The SSD added quicker loading time and overall faster and better quality to the computer,
this will help the client complete jobs quicker and will also open appellation quicker and is
faster.
The addition of the DVD burner will help with the CEO to burn DVD / watch / uses them and
will overall improve the CEOs computer.
With the addition of the webcam, you will be able to have access to better teams meeting
as it allows you to have a more face to face meeting what will over all improve meeting
alone and it is set up on teams to have advantage of the internet for communications.
When I came to the overheating in the computer all that was needed was a simple dusting
of the fan and a quick light vacuum of the insides.

Evaluation and justification
One thing I think that went will was installing the new SSD because it was easy and it made
such a big improvement to the computer speed and a big improvement to the system itself.
The reason why I think the SSD upgrade is good is because any update that need to be
done or download.
Some further improvement I would made would be to add more RAM to the computer to
help the new SSD / to keep all bases of the computer running at the same standard.
Another thing I think was a good add was the web cam because of the addition and better
team will be able to function with the integration of the webcam allowing to have better and
more interactive meetings.
I do thing that with the addition with the webcam I think that a head set with a microphone
or a microphone it self would be a further improvement and would make the webcam and a
microphone would make it 10 times better.
