PERIMETER AND AREA OF THE ACTUAL PERIMETER AND AREA OF THE REPLICA
BEDROOM FLOORPLAN OF MY BEDROOM FLOORPLAN
In getting the perimeter and the area of both actual and replica of my bedroom
floor plan, we use the formula of the rectangle which is 𝑃 = 2𝐿 + 2𝑊 and 𝐴 = 𝐿 ∗ 𝑊.
The measurement of the actual floor plan is in millimeters, so we convert it to inches
(refer to Figure 2). For the replica’s floor plan measurement we use the unit of inches
(Figure 3).The perimeter of the actual floor plan is 599.92 inches, with the length of
137.64 inches and a width of 162.32 𝑖𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑠 . Area of the actual floor plan is
22,341.72𝑖𝑛2 . The replica’s perimeter is 27.02𝑖𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑠, with the length of 7.31 inches
and a width of 6.2 inches. In determining the similarity ratio, in scale up we divide the
length of the actual to the replica which result to 22.2 inches and also for the width
which has the same result 22.2 inches. For the scale down, we divide the replica to the
actual which the length and the width that results to 0.045 inches. The similarity ratio
is the simplest form of the ratio and since it cannot be simplified, the final similarity
ratio is 7.31 inches: 6.2 inches.
