Subject: Everything About Mathematic Assignment
Dear students,
I am sharing to you an overview of your Mathematic assignment topic. The title of the
assignment is “Knowing the Anatomy of A Circle.” Read the brief explanation below to
understand the anatomy of a circle and how to construct your assignment.
“A circle is a round shape and we see this shape around us every day. There are plenty of
objects made out of this shape call circle. A circle shaped object has a center. The outside
edge of the object is made of a center dot. All the dots around the edge are the same distance
from the object’s center dot.” I have already defined circle, and you can use my definition as
your introduction in your assignment. Please remember to explain in detail by adding some
elaboration and examples of objects that are in circle shape. I am now going to state the
components that makes a circle and you need to explain in detail each of the component in
your assignment. Please create subtitles as you describe each one of it.
A circle shape object has a center point (dot), diameter, radius and circumference. These are
the components and as you explain please provide diagrams. Additionally, you must start
writing by defining each of these components as in clearly stating its meaning and functions.
Furthermore, in your assignment you also need to explain in depth the relationship between
a circle’s diameter and its radius. Moreover, you need to break the anatomy of a circle and
explain the tangent of a circle and chords of a circle. Remember, it is crucial (essential) to
include diagrams as you explain. Explain like a pro mathematic student to get great
scores. Simple sentences are allowed but point forms are not permitted.
I hope my sharing and guidelines will be useful. Good luck with your final year assignment
students. If you have any questions about the assignment, feel free to get in touch. Please
message your questions in the official classroom website and I will reply. Strictly no sms,
whatsapp messages and personal calls. It won’t be entertained!
Regards,
Darlina

A Night Before History Is Made

I am a crazy teacher as people say so …don’t I Shela? I am so obsessed with this teaching
method called PWIM. It allows me to teach using pictures and images hahaha…Rex you
know how much the quote ‘pictures mean 1000 words” means to me do you Rex?’ I spent
day and night reading about it and I want to do a complete thesis on it. Don’t you think it’s
fun Rex? Here come! Let me explain to you what is PWIM is all about. Mysterious! You
listen okay Rex my pet. Smart dog Rex let’s start.
Rex…this model uses pictures to elicit (obtain/ draw out) words from students. As in, the
pictures used represent objects or items that learners see in their daily life whereby the
pictures are labelled part by part for students to easily recognize and refer an object. It does
not only assist students in developing their vocabulary but also in learning science,
mathematics and language as it permits learners to create generalizations and analysis. Is it
too complicated Rex…. Anyhow I think if I use this method my students will love me and my
lessons. And I will crown the best teacher of the year! Isn’t it Rex?

Next day at school

Good morning, teacher seemed to be really happy. Yes Jonathan, I figured out a new teaching
approach and….shhh I think the whole class will love it. Didn’t teacher explode the lab last
week? Teacher? Shut up! Jonathan. Don’t spoil my mood. Okay teacher. I will remain silent.
Jonathan says something. Yes teacher, yes but deep in mind “I wonder what this crazy
teacher is up to”.
Students! Stand up! Welcome to today’s lesson. Sit down! and Smile! To begin with, today
we are going to do an activity. The name is PWIM. What are the name students? PWIM
teacher. Good! Before I start..smile..smile… PWIM is very useful. You know students how
much I love pictures so PWIM helps in developing and expanding students’ vocabulary
knowledge since pictures cater concrete images in terms of learning new words and picture
word charts can serve as an immediate references like picture dictionary whereby students
can easily add words to their own vocabulary bank.

10. During her talk with Rex, she was excited because
A she found something mysterious
B she found a new teaching pedagogy (teaching method)
C she found a new was to become famous
11. Why did Jonathan say “I wonder what this crazy teacher is up to”?
A his teacher does a lot of insane crazy stuffs
B his teacher does a lot of experiments
C his teacher does inventions

12. Why the teacher is so obsessed with PWIM?

A she likes quotes related with pictures
B she wants to do something fun
C she loves pictures and images

13 According to the teacher, how can PWIM be useful for students?

A enriches vocabulary
B helps develop words
C helps with drawing

14 What will probably happen next?

A teacher gets disappointed with PWIM failure
B teacher and students try out the PWIM method
C PWIM just remains as the teachers dream

Part 4
Read two reviews about a book.
Answer questions 15 and 16 based on Review 1.

Review 1
This enchanting Factfulness – Hans Rosling with Ola Rosling and Anna Rosling Rönnlund
book is an amazing book.
In Factfulness, Professor Hans Rosling, along with two collaborators, asks simple questions
about the world. Questions like “How many girls finish school?” and “What percentage of
the world’s population is poor?” It turns out the majority of us get the answers to these
questions completely wrong. Why does this happen? Factfulness sets out to explain why,
showing that there are several instincts humans have that distort(misleading) our perspective.
For example, most people divide the world into THEM. In addition, we often believe that
things are getting worse. And we are consuming large amounts of media that use a sales
model based on making us afraid.
But according to the authors, the world isn’t as bad as we think. Yes, there are real concerns.
But we should adopt a mindset of Factfulness – only carrying opinions that are supported
by strong facts. This book is not concerned with the underlying reasons for poverty or
progress, or what should be done about these issues. It focuses on our instinctive biases,
offering practical advice to help us see the good as well as the bad in the world.
(Adapted from https://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/skills/reading/advanced-c1/four-book-
summaries)

15 What do we learn about the reviewer’s impression of the book?

A He felt that the book addressed our internal perspectives and learn to distinguish between
good and bad through proven facts.
B He was amazed that the book addressed critical issues
C He appreciated that the book teaches the importance of facts over opinions.

16 How are the contents of this review organised?

A the gist of the story-reality check-book information-summary
B book information-the gist of the story-reality check-summary
C summary-reality check-book information-the gist of the story

Review 2
For fans of Freakonomics and Thinking, Fast and Slow, here is a book by Hans Rosling, the
scientist called “a true inspiration” by Bill Gates, that teaches us how to see the world as it
truly is.
Factfulness: The stress-reducing habit of carrying only opinions for which you have strong
supporting facts. When asked simple questions about global trends - what percentage of the
world’s population live in poverty; why the world’s population is increasing; how many girls
finish school – we systematically get the answers wrong. So wrong that a chimpanzee
choosing answers at random will consistently outguess teachers, journalists, Nobel laureates,
and investment bankers.
In Factfulness, professor of international health and global TED phenomenon Hans Rosling,
together with his two longtime collaborators, Anna and Ola, offers a radical new
explanation of why this happens. They reveal the ten instincts that distort our perspective -
from our tendency to divide the world into two camps (usually some version of us and them)
to the way we consume media (where fear rules) to how we perceive progress (believing that
most things are getting worse). Our problem is that we don’t know what we don’t know, and
even our guesses are informed by unconscious and predictable biases.
It turns out that the world, for all its imperfections, is in a much better state than we might
think. That doesn’t mean there aren’t real concerns. But when we worry about everything all
the time instead of embracing a worldview based on facts, we can lose our ability to focus on
the things that threaten us most. Inspiring and revelatory, filled with lively anecdotes and
moving stories, Factfulness is an urgent and essential book that will change the way you see
the world and empower you to respond to the crises and opportunities of the future.
Adapted from https://www.audible.com/pd/Factfulness-Audiobook/B07BFF5TQ6

17 Why does the writer include information about a radical new explanation?
A to prove that there is a change in people’s thinking
B to prove that there are drastic changes in how people explain things
C to prove that there are significant intuitions (instincts) that influences on how people think

18 What do we learn from the book?

A we need to start paying attention to “fact” then mere “thought”
B we need to distinguish between reality and myth
C we need to learn from our own mistakes

Answer questions 19 and 20 based on Review 1 and Review 2

19 Which of the following is true of both reviews?
A both reviews describe Factfulness main points in detail
B both reviews suggest that Factfulness is a better book than Thinking, Fast and Slow
C both reviews mention the importance of Factfulness success

20 The two reviews suggest that a successful book requires

A a strong cast
B a strong message (message: focus on the reality, opinions should be supported by strong
facts)
C a strong story
