Freedom of the Human Person

Freedom is a person's inherent and necessary property. This signifies

that the human being is a free entity by nature, and it is in his or her nature to
pursue freedom. The ability to make decisions and take acts is a fundamental
indicator of human freedom. Our freedom distinguishes us from other beings.
Unlike animals we have freedoms. We have freedom to perform certain
actions compared to animals, they have to be conditioned to perform the task.
We are free to do what we want in our own will. Animals is restrained and will
follow your commands easily. If we try saying “sit” to a person, well probably
they’ll just look at you and think your out of your mind. They won't obey
because they are not trained like animals to do the certain tasks. The point
here is: Animals do not have a freedom they just follow orders and humans
have a will and freedom which makes us aware of the actions we are going to
take. And this is what makes us different from animals.
Freedom also provides us the ability to be who we want to be and to
choose and create ourselves. I want to make things easier for my parents. I
don't want them to work or to be stressed out about money. I want everything
to go well for them. Therefore, I'll study very hard in order to complete all of my
dreams and fulfill my desire. It is up to us if we want to reach our goals
through good action and self-determination. We have complete control over
which route we take. It is my freedom to work hard and provide a good life for
my parents. This is what freedom means to me. Just like in the concept of
freedom of Jean Paul Sartre, we are the one responsible for building our own
destiny.
Aside from Jean Paul Sartre's definition of freedom, I also consider St.
Thomas Aquinas' concept of freedom. He thinks humans to be moral agents.
Every decision we make is aimed at achieving something good. As I previously
stated, I want to complete my studies in order to provide a better life for my
parents. This is for the benefit of both my parents and me. I'm aiming for good,
and I'd rather be stressed out at school than laze around at home doing
nothing for my family. Freedom is something we are doing good.
The act of selecting choices allows one to experience freedom. As a result,
whether making judgments or taking acts, we must exhibit caution and
prudence and consider all possible outcomes. We must exert control over our
behavior and accept appropriate boundaries to our freedom.
Intersubjectivity
Humans have a natural and universal tendency to relate to one another,
form attachments, and seek close relationships. Our human nature compels us
to reach out to others and engage in meaningful interactions with them.

It is easy to understand when you say “What is intersubjectivity? it is the

communication with others. It is how we socialize, treat and how we see each
individual, for me it is the definition of intersubjectivity. And a deeper level of
interaction is the awareness of ourselves being seen by others and how we
recognize the existence of others. I remember in the movie we watched "I am
Sam" there the interaction was shown how persons with disabilities was
treated unequally. He’s freedom to love her daughter was restrained and the
capacity to choose was taken away from him. Stereotyping was evident here
because they judge the person based on he’s appearance or condition. They
don’t recognize him as a father, just because he is like that. We must learn to
accept and understand each individual, whatever the person stands in life,
whoever the person is, we must show respect and gratitude to have a
meaningful and peaceful community. The lesson here I learned in the movie
was how accepting our differences and embracing diversity helps us to become
more understanding. And that is how we will start to develop empathy to
others. We begun to realize and further understand their feelings. We try to put
ourselves into shoes of others. We share emotion and feelings. And we must
remember that empathy was different from sympathy. Sympathy is feeling
while empathy is feeling in.

Reflecting on our encounters can help us understand what motivates us

to reach out to others. Knowing our ability for intersubjectivity and the chances
it gives for encouraging growth and well-being will help us make better choices
and decisions as we continue to interact with others and maintain positive
relationships in our life.

The Human Person in the Society

The human being exists to interact with others. The human is a social
being by nature because he or she goes out of oneself or herself to develop
friendships and interactions with others. Our independence allows us to
pursue numerous activities in order to fulfill our objectives and ambitions. As
we go through life and gain new experiences, we come across other people that
act similarly to ourselves.

As I continue to learn about Philosophy, I see that the lessons are

interconnected. Every lesson is interconnected, which made it easy for me to
grasp the subject. I remembered that a society is a group of organized people
that frequently interact with one another as well as with common territory and
culture. When individuals form together to pursue a common goal, they
establish a society. As our teacher mentioned, a group of students is a society.
We all have the same aim in mind: to learn and grow. We have frequent
encounters with one another, which is why we can call a classroom a society
because all of the elements necessary to make a society are there. To have a
better society just like in the social contract theory we must sacrifice an
amount of our rights for the common good. We elected a president, Ms. Erpelo,
for our classroom in order to have a leader who will guide us in keeping order
and peace among students. We have a symbiotic relationship. She will lead,
and we will follow her commands. We assigned her tasks, and she will assist
us. By cooperation and by sharing burden among individuals, inside the
classroom we will have a better society.

I also discovered that various societies existed previously. The evolution

of civilization throughout history demonstrates how far humanity has
progressed as a result of shifting environments and historical growth. I will not
go over all of the previous societies; instead, I will focus on the hunter-gatherer
technique. This is the simplest and most primitive type of society. They are
nomadic, moving from one location to another. They are reliant on the
resources in a certain area; if those supplies are depleted, they will simply
relocate to a new location. The society before, if you think about it, is really
difficult. Imagine you have to travel from one place to another, without a
permanent territory. What if the resources in that area run out, there is a big
tendency for some people in that society to die because even if we say that they
will find something new, they may still starve and people will die because of
hunger. It's a relief that I lived in a time when society is civilized and it's no
longer difficult to find food and resources. However, the contributions of prior
societies were still very useful because we had a transformation that created
our society int what it is today.

Society gives people with opportunity to grow and find happiness. Society
strives to generate well-adjusted and productive citizens who can make
substantial contributions to society through its many institutions. As a result,
individuals should maintain the common good and endeavor to effect beneficial
social change.
Human Persons as Oriented Towards Their Impending Death

Nothing lasts forever in this world, including relationships, food, fashion,

and even us. We are born, grow, age, and eventually die. This is our life's cycle.
We are only here for a short time, so we should live our lives to the best in
order to leave this world peacefully.
Death is an integral part of our life, you, your loved ones, family
members, or friends may perish. This is the occurrence that I do not want to
happen, yet I am powerless to prevent it because it is a fact of life. And
sometimes I've wondered what it's like to die. Does it hurt? I'm afraid of death
because probably I won't be able to see the world again, put in a sleep forever
and will never wake up. Imagine being buried 6 feet below the surface horrified
me. I don’t want to die as of now, I haven't achieved my dreams, and I'm too
young to die. I know it's inevitable; we don't know when or how we'll die, but
I'm not prepared; I have so many goals to complete. But this is the reality we
can’t escape, someday eventually death will come upon us. Death is a complete
mystery. Sometimes I want to believe that death is our final destination, there
we won’t feel pain and suffer. As Aristotle believe death will give us the true
perfection when we are in the realm of soul. He’s concept is we live here in this
world we feel pain, grief and anger it’s the “Actuality” and when we die and
reach the realm of soul it’s the “potentiality”. There is nothing I can do, death is
inevitable, I’ll just try to learn accepting death. I will enjoy my life and fulfill all
of my goals as long as I live in this world. I'll strive to live a meaningful life,
leave happy memories, and make the most of my life.

Death is the final destination of all of us. We will experience suffering

and grief but these pains and experience of life will give us development. This
will shape us into something we can’t predict. Life is a gift to all of us so we
shouldn’t waste it. Live a happy life and one day we all going to be ready to
accept our impending death.
