The line passes through (-1, -3/2) and the product hk = -5. Determine the
equation of the line.

b) (i) P(at12, 2at1) and Q(at22, 2at2) are points on the parabola y2 =
4ax. Derive the equation of the chord PQ in the form
2x-(t1+ t2)y + 2at1t2= 0. Hence or otherwise, find in terms of t, the
equation of the normal to the parabola at the point (at2, 2at).

(ii) The normal to the parabola y2 = 4ax at the point (at2, 2at) cuts
the x-axis at Q. R is the mid-point of PQ. As t varies, find the
Cartesian equation of the locus of R.
