Semi Detailed LP Solution

This lesson plan aims to teach students about solutions through hands-on activities and discussion. Students will prepare solutions by mixing powdered juice mixes with water, then taste and observe the solutions. The teacher will explain that a solution is a homogeneous mixture with a solute dissolved in a solvent, and discuss saturated, unsaturated, and supersaturated solutions. Students will identify the solute and solvent in various solutions, describe what happens when a solute is added to solutions at different saturation levels, and differentiate the saturation types using drawings for evaluation.

Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in Chemistry

April 10,2018

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of this lesson, the students should be able to:

a. prepare useful solution;

b. appreciate useful solution by tasting it;

c. define solution;

d. give examples of solution;

e. identify the solute and solvent of a given solution and;

f. differentiate saturated, unsaturated and supersaturated solution.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic: Solution

Sub-Topic: Types of Solution

B. Concepts

1. A solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances.

2. A solute is a part of solution that is being dissolved.

3. A solvent is a part of solution that dissolved the solute.

4. Solution can be categorized as saturated, unsaturated and supersaturated.

D. Materials

Three bottled water (1L each), three litro packs of powdered juice and power

point presentation.

III. TEACHING STRATEGY

A. Preparation

1. Performing routine activities

1.1 Greetings

1.2 Prayer

1.3 Checking of attendance

1.4 Classroom management

B. Review

1. What is mixture?

2. What are the two general categories of mixture?

3. Differentiate homogeneous from heterogeneous mixture. Give examples.

C. Motivation

a. Ask who among the class often drink juice. Ask their preference in preparing

this.

b. Show the materials needed for the activity (3 bottled water 1 L each)

labeled as A, B, and C and 4 litro packs of powdered juice).

c. Ask three volunteers to read the direction on the power point presentation and

perform the activity.

d. Ask the student to write their observation.

D. Lesson Proper

1. Discussion

a. Ask the students their ideas on solution.

b. Explain what solution is.

c. Give examples of solution (like the juice prepared in the activity).

d. Explain the components of a solution.

e. Let the students give example of solution and identify the solute and the

solvent.

f. Ask the student the three types of solution.

g. Differentiate the three types of solution.

h. Ask the students to identify what type of solution are the bottle A, bottle B

and bottle C.

E. Application

Direction: Answer the following in your notebook.

A given solution is clear and colorless. A single crystal of solute is added to

the solution. Describe what happens in each of the following situations.

a. The original solution was saturated.

b. The original solution was unsaturated.

c. The original solution was supersaturated.

F. Generalization

1. Ask the students to summarize the lesson.

a. Define solution and give example.

b. Differentiate saturated, unsaturated and supersaturated solution.

IV. EVALUATION

Direction: In a 1 whole sheet of paper answer the following:

A. Identify the solute and solvent of the given solutions.

Solutions Solute Solvent

Air

70% Isopropyl alcohol

40% Ethyl alcohol

Soda water

Vinegar

B. Differentiate saturated, unsaturated and supersaturated solution using a drawing.

V. ASSIGNMENT

In a 1 whole sheet of paper answer the following:

1. What is colloid? Give 5 examples.

2. What is suspension? Give 5 examples.
