Project Location: Angeles Luistro Integrated Senior High School

Project Time Frame: School Year 2022-2023

Project Beneficiaries: Grade 7 to Grade 10 Learners

I. Rationale

In line with the implementation of DM No. 173, s. 2019, or “HAMON: BAWAT

BATA BUMABASA (3Bs Initiative)”, It support the implementation of the K to 12
Basic Education Program where the Department of Education (DepEd) is
continuously fulfilling its mandate to produce productive and responsible citizens
equipped with essential competencies and skills for lifelong learning. To make every
learner a proficient reader, schools across the country are tasked to help learners
develop their reading skills. However, such initiatives are still not enough based on
the recent results of national assessments for student learning.
The result shows that there is a low achievement levels in English, Math, and
Science appear to be caused by gaps in learners’ reading comprehension. This
means that there are many low performing learners who could not comprehend (read
and understand) Math and Science word problems that are written in English. Hence,
they were unable to demonstrate their knowledge in these content areas.
As mathematics is the queen of all sciences. It is one of the most important
subjects to be taught in all ages. It can be added that its uses goes beyond the

classroom and school. It is in need that every student should be capable of

mastering it’s all aspects. But amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, learning mathematics
seems to be troublesome for the students due to the lack of direct interaction with
their teachers.

In line with this Memorandum Angeles Luistro Integrated Senior High School is
implementing Project Re-BEAM to lessen the losses and gaps in learner’s
understanding with regards to Mathematics.

II. Project Objectives

General Objectives:
This project aims to help the students fill up the decline of learner’s knowledge
in mathematics which was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. To improve the
abilities of a learner in constructing a strong foundation in all aspects especially in
mathematics. This aims that 100% of the students have progress after the
program.

Specific Objectives
1. Promote students from non-numerates to numerates.
2. Remediate/Decline the difficulties of the students in all aspect of Four
Fundamental Operations through intervention material.
3. Arise the interest and intrinsic motivation of the students in learning
Mathematics through intervention program.

III. Project Description

This project will be conducted by the Mathematics teachers among the 140
students from the Grade 7 – 10 students. The students will be assessed by the
teachers to identify which competencies that has been held back by the Covid-19
pandemic. The lessons and module will be hand made by the teachers in their
respective level handled, as the respective teachers will be the most
knowledgeable on the mishaps of the students.
The project will be conducted during the preferred schedule of the teachers
handling the project. The lessons will be focusing more on the competencies
where the students have been held back which the students must have for their

lessons in the regular classes.

The effectivity of the project will be reflected on the given pre-test and post-
test assessment used by the handing teacher.
Stakeholders will be frequently invited to teach the students in numerical
literacy which aims to strengthen the partnership of the school and community.
The stakeholder’s capability will be assessed and aided by the handling teacher
for the accurate learnings of the target learners. As much the stakeholders will be
given tutorial and workshops to develop their teaching and cognitive capabilities
for teaching the target students.

IV. Project Outcome

As mentioned in the project’s objectives the expected outcome of the project
was to lessen the non-numerate students and develop the knowledge of the
numerate ones. The project also aims to be reflected on the student’s grades in
Mathematics. It could be said that the owner of the project aims the higher
performance of the target students in school and real-life application of
Mathematics in the student’s community.

V. Methodology
A pre-assessment test will be administered to Grade 7 to Grade 10 students
to determine their mathematical ability and to determine the needed
competencies to be taught to them. They are going to be classified to struggling,
average and high average students.
The project handlers will create a proper lesson base on the assessment
result. Lesson will be done after class (3:00 PM - 4:00 PM) for grade 7 and grade
9 students and every Thursday (8:00 AM – 10:00 AM for grade 8, 10:30 AM to
12:30 PM for grade 10). Lessons will be done as a regular class as extension to
the prior everyday lessons.
