2. What metaphors were used by the author?
Dylan Thomas urged his father to fight and used the terms "good night" and "black" as metaphors for death. On the repeated line, "Rage, rage against the dying of the light," light was also used to symbolize life in general. Additionally, the metaphorical expression "sun in flight" conveys both the beauty of life and its fleetingness.
3. What poetic device occurs more in the poem?
The most frequent poetic device that can be found in the poem is alliteration. In the first line, "Do not go gentle into that good night," the sound of the initial letter “g” is repeated in the line which gives emphasis to these words and its thought. The 14th line, "Blind eyes could burn like meteors and be happy," likewise uses alliteration; most of the words in this line begin with the letter "b," making them sound similar.
4. Write a letter to Dylan Thomas, explaining your reaction to the view of death expressed in the poem
Dear Dylan Thomas,
I concur that death is like a wonderful night. Dying is inevitable, and if we can come to accept our own ends, then that's when we can say that this existence has been worthwhile. Your father had a tough day, and the evening is just getting started. As he is a wise man with a kind heart, do not mourn or be terrified; instead, cling to him more tightly so that he can pass peacefully. Take this gloomy route because it will eventually bring you both new brightness. Yours truly, Hannah

To my ever-loving son, I hereby totally accept this darkness, my son. It's a good night, and I'm positive you're aware of it. You love the light so much, and I pray that you continue to do so when the darkness embraces me back. Defend your light, set it on fire, and battle the night! I've accepted this fate for a while now, and I've already had dreams about it. Let go of me and take hold of yourself. You will follow your light to the utmost at its climax, but when the time comes, you should also embrace your darkness like I did with mine. With love, Father
