Format: DVD
Quantity: 1

Accessories: 1 Sentinel SuperPro key (USB

or parallel port)

Should any element be missing or erroneous, please contact our Customer Support Department.

2. PREREQUISITES
Prior to any installation, update or uninstallation operation, check the following points:

 The hardware and software configuration of your computer station is compliant with our
recommendations;
 You have administrator’s rights on this computer station;
 No anti-virus program is currently operating on this station;
 No anti-spyware program is currently operating on this station;
 No firewall is active on this station;
 No other application running with Oracle™ is currently installed on this station.

The “online” option of XPR-300 requires the “XCom Driver” component. The “XCom Driver” component
requires ”Internet Information Services (IIS)” – Refer to Chapter 8 - Installation of “Internet Information
Services” (IIS).
Publishing statistical reports in RTF requires Microsoft Word or at least the Microsoft viewer
downloadable from the Microsoft site.

2.1. Microsoft Loopback adapter installation

For a Desktop installation the PC must be connected to a network. If this is not possible you must install
the Microsoft Loopback adapter. For such operation please follow Microsoft instructions
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839013):

How to install the Microsoft Loopback adapter in Windows XP

SUMMARY
The Microsoft Loopback adapter is a testing tool for a virtual network environment where network access
is not available. Also, you must use the Loopback adapter if there are conflicts with a network adapter or
with a network adapter driver. You can bind network clients, protocols, and other network configuration
items to the Loopback adapter, and you can install the network adapter driver or network adapter later

0BIntroduction
page 4/65
Installation Guide - rev. B
while retaining the network configuration information. You can also install the Loopback adapter during
the unattended installation process.

Manual installation
To manually install the Microsoft Loopback adapter in Windows XP, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2. If you are in Classic view, click Switch to Category View under Control Panel in the left
pane.
3. Double-click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Next.
4. Under See Also in the left pane, click Add Hardware, and then click Next.
5. Click Yes, I have already connected the hardware, and then click Next.
6. At the bottom of the list, click Add a new hardware device, and then click Next.
7. Click Install the hardware that I manually select from a list, and then click Next.
8. Click Network adapters, and then click Next.
9. In the Manufacturer box, click Microsoft.
10. In the Network Adapter box, click Microsoft Loopback Adapter, and then click Next.
11. Click Finish.

After the adapter is installed successfully, you can manually configure its options, as with any other
adapter. If the TCP/IP properties are configured to use DHCP, the adapter will eventually use an autonet
address (169.254.x.x/16) because the adapter is not actually connected to any physical media.

Note By default, TCP/IP properties are configured to use DHCP.

Unattended installation
To install the Microsoft Loopback adapter, use the following sample Unattend.txt file as a model for your
Unattend.txt file:

5. REQUIRED CONFIGURATION FOR E-MAIL NOTIFICATIONS

5.1. General points

Several types of messaging services have been used by companies, none of which is clearly
preponderant on the market: Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes … not to mention Windows, Linux, etc.
mixed character. Therefore, configuration operations for e-mail notification will consist on a generic SMTP
(Simple Mail Transport Protocol) configuration that may be upgraded to one or the other situation.

As for XPR-300, the sending of notification e-mails is physically achieved by the database, i.e., by the
« OracleServiceEDIAG » service, executed on the database server (or the computer in case of a desktop
configuration).
5.2. Configuration of the SMTP server
There are two configurations:
 Use of the domain SMTP server,
 Use of one’s own SMTP server (case of a stand-alone configuration).

5.2.1. Case #1: Using the domain SMTP server

Notifications can be addressed to:
 Either domain users,
 Or off-domain users who work on the domain.

In order to be able to send e-mails out of the domain (relaying notion), the Oracle service
« OracleServiceEDIAG » must absolutely be associated with a user account having relaying rights on the
SMTP server.

Note: By default, we recommend to declare and use the ediag_admin user, initially declared in an “ediag”
security group. But, depending on the network configuration and on the customer’s policy of security,
these rights can be assigned to a different user.

Note: The SMTP configuration can only be achieved by the network administrator or the domain
administrator.

Reminder: Associating the ediag_admin user account with Oracle services is achieved using the
Windows services management panel:

After completion of this operation, the computer station should be preferably restarted for the new
configuration to be taken into account.

5.2.2. Case #2: Using alternate SMTP server

In this case, no SMTP server is available on the network. An alternate SMTP server must then be
installed.
There are two solutions:
 Installing and using « ArGoSoft Mail Server »,
 Using the SMTP Service available from Windows’ Internet Services.

ArGoSoft Mail Server installation program is available in « Cd4XprTools » in the XPR-300 DVD package.
This software is provided in its “freeware” version for testing. For permanent use, we recommend that a
commercial version be purchased.
5.2.2.1. Installing & configuring « ArGoSoft Mail Server »
ArGoSoft Mail Server allows sending out and relaying e-mails from the XPR-300 server station to any
addressee having a valid e-mail address. This solution is to be used only if no SMTP server is available in
your company.

ArGoSoft Mail Server must be installed from directory « Cd4XprTools\Tools\ArGoSoftMailServer »,

located in CD#4 of the XPR-300 package. Default installation can be performed; additional operations are
described below.

After installation, the server must be restarted from menu Start  Programs  … :

Once started, an « ArGoSoft Mail Server» icon is displayed in the list of background processes:

Right click on this icon to display the log screen for the server:

Right click again on the icon, then select « Options » to display server operating options:

Installation Guide - rev. B

Two options need to be customised:

 DNS Server: present the IP address of the Domain Name System (DNS) server of the Internet
Service Provider. This parameter is required to send messages outside the local network. The
simplest solution to find the IP address of the DNS server active for your Internet connection consists
in using command ipconfig /all.
 Allow Relay: This option must be checked to allow sending messages outside the local network.

Once all these options are properly configured, the SMTP is ready and can be started:

Operating test:

From a SQL*Plus session, execute function SendMail() according to the following operating mode:

Enter the following SQL command:

Connect ediag/ediag@ediag

select ediag.SendMail('localhost', 25, null, 'pascal.thissier@tele2.fr', 'test', 'super test')

from dual;

Once these options are properly configured, the SMTP server is ready and can be started:

From now on, the SMTP server can be used.

5.3. Declaring the SMTP server on the XPR-300 preferences

Once the SMTP has been properly configured, it must be declared in XPR-300 in order to be actually
used for notification operations.

The following variables must be customised according to your configuration:

 SMTP server: address = localhost by default – in case of an installation in a domain with an
SMTP server, this variable must contain the name of the SMTP server.
 SMTP server: port = 25 by default – change if required.

6. REQUIRED CONFIGURATION FOR SMS NOTIFICATIONS

6.1. Principle
SMS notification requires having a SMS service provider acting as the gateway between our application
and the mobile phone network. Once this gateway has been configured, XPR-300 will use all the SMS
available from the provider that will deliver the messages to their addressees.

XPR-300 use Global SMS Pro Web Service of StrikeIron for SMS notifications.

6.2. Managing the SMS account

6.2.1. How to credit the SMS account?

From the welcome page at http://www.strikeiron.com/ProductDetail.aspx?p=190, one can create a free
account or see price list.

Once the procedure is completed, you will receive the following information by e-mail:
 E-mail address,
 Password.

Your user account can be used to credit your SMS account using various methods of payment.

Each time an XPR-300 notification SMS is sent out, your account is charged with 1 SMS. When there is
no credit left on your account, no SMS notification can be issued.

Notes:
 Creating and crediting this account is at the operator’s expenses.
 The SMS account must always be credited.

6.2.2. How to declare the SMS account in XPR-300?

Once the SMS account has been created and credited, it must be declared in XPR-300. To do so, edit
the preferences and change the following variables in the “Application Server” section:
 SMS: account = e-mail address
 SMS: password = password

Validate and quit the Preferences window. XPR-300 can now issue SMS for its notifications.

7. REQUIRED CONFIGURATION FOR “OPC” FUNCTIONNALITIES

7.1. Access rights to servers’ DCOM components

In order to allow XPR-300 to connect to an OPC server hosted on a local network server, several
precautions need to be taken regarding server access security.

Also, OPC publishing of XPR-300 parameters requires some configurations relative to the security of the
server station hosting the OPC server, so that it can be used by anyone on the local network.

This paragraph deals with the description of all configuration operations required for these two operating
modes.

7.1.1. Prerequisites
 This procedure concerns XPR-300 installed in a Domain (not in a Workgroup).
 This procedure was written under Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server for a generic account
ediag_admin meeting the following requirements:
o ediag_admin must be « Full Administrator of the workstation ».
o ediag_admin is declared in the domain where XPR-300 is installed.
o ediag_admin must be part of the ORA_DBA group on all stations where the Oracle
database is installed, i.e. on each PC running XPR Desktop or on each PC running XPR
Web Server.
NB: Normally, the account of the administrator who carries out the installation of XPR-
300 is automatically added to the ORA_DBA group.

7.1.2. Firewall configuration

If there is a firewall on the server hosting the OPC server, then the following exceptions must be declared
in the firewall:
 TCP port 135 (reception port for RPC requests) must be open.
 Program “OPcEnum.exe” located in windows\system32 must be allowed to open ports
o Must absolutely be done on the server hosting “01dB.EDiagOPCServer DA Server” if this
server does not already host operating servers.
 Program “DanSrv.exe”, located in OneProd\XPR\opcsrv, must be allowed to open ports.

7.1.3. DCOM configuration

On the PC where the OPC server is installed, log on with an administrator account and make the
following actions:
